I've owned 3 of these little plastic machines over the years -- just purchased my 4th -- and although they DO eventually break (like anything made of plastic that endures heavy use), the price is so low that it's completely worth it. I use this product literally 10 to 20 times a day, every single day, and get at least a year's worth of use before it breaks-- that's over 16,000 cigarettes per 7$ machine! The item is extremely light and portable, which means I can take it with me everywhere without worrying about rolling a bunch of cigarettes beforehand, and it comes with spare parts for the interchangeable nozzle tips.
Now, learning how to use the machine correctly, so that it produces a perfect cigarette every time, requires a balance between amount of tobacco packed into the hopper and amount of force applied to the compression lid during injecting. This means that if you over-fill the hopper (pack too much tobacco in), the machine will not be able to push that giant mash of tobacco into the little paper tube. If you like your cigarettes really heavily packed, you have two options: 1) figure out how to put enough downward pressure on the lid so that it pinches the tip of the cigarette tube really hard, or 2) fill a tube once, pack it down, and then add a bit more tobacco into the bottom end of the hopper and delicately fill the top of the tube again. Method 1 often results in torn tubes, but method 2 can be easily done with this machine-- another thing I love about it.
It just takes practice to figure out how much tobacco you should use, and you may screw up a few tubes before you find a good balance-- don't give up! (Protip: it makes a big difference how fresh the tobacco is-- dry and 'crunchy' tobacco does not inject or pack as well, but it burns better, so try a combination) It's also important to be sure you have pressed the lid down all the way, so that it locks into place before injecting.
Here are the downsides: 1) the little black rubber tips on the swinging lid that pinch the tube on the nozzle are flexible, and they wiggle. A lot. The more you use the machine, the looser they will become-- this is why putting enough downward pressure on the lid is important, otherwise the tube will slide off. 2) the metal rails at the bottom of each hopper that push the tobacco into the tube can bend, and if you pack too much tobacco down on top of them, they may flatten and jam up against the edge, preventing the machine from sliding. If everything looks fine but the machine will not slide, DON'T force it-- you will crack the plastic. Just remove the tobacco with a flat-head screwdriver and check to see if the tip of the metal rail is stuck. To fix this problem, slide the machine forward a little, and pry the rail up delicately with the screwdriver.
I just spoke to Amazon and they are making this right for me, but do NOT order from WINDA as they are crooks!
UPDATE!! Don't listen to the negative comments! Once you learn how to use these, they are great! Been using these for years. They are cheap, so plan on replacing around once a year but again, they are inexpensive and do the job!
This is my 2nd one. They last around a year at the rate I use and I roll probably around 25 a day.
If you have the right moisture content on your tobacco, it is perfect. Much better than the 2 roller that others sell and is pretty much identical except you roll 3 at a time.
Price is good, service is good.
If you have never used a roller before, it takes a few weeks to learn how to use it, but once you get the hang of how to do it, it's quick and a breeze. I can roll a pack in around 5 minutes.
I've been using this type for 6 years and love the 3 roller that is sold here.
Update: I just purchased the 3rd one. It lasts for around 6 months before the rubber tray on the bottom starts wearing, but still the BEST one on the market. If you have any questions, please ask! Funny, I now have an orange, black, and red one!
