==================
I bought this clipper based on the reviews. I can't imagine anyone that has given this more than 2 stars has actually used this thing. Aside from the fancy case and body, this thing is garbage. Save yourself some money and just buy one of the $10 clippers for humans. It's the same motor with the same speed.
My experience...
I have an old Airedale that can no longer go to the groomer. It is too hard on him. So, we thought we would try to trim him ourselves.
Putting the longest attachment on (#9) and slowly trying to run the clipper over the dog, almost no hairs were actually trimmed. To get this PoS to work you need to grab clumps of his fur and sssssssllllllllooooooowwwwwwllllllllllyyyyyy work your way through it. We eventually set the clippers to the side and decided to use scissors.
Would I buy again? NO
Would I recommend it? NO

======================
My original review was pretty scathing and it was an accurate experience, however, my expectations of the product were unrealistic. I recently just used the same trimmer on my old dog again with the understanding that it will be a slow process and with that in mind, it worked really well. I would still like a stronger motor but overall, for the price, it's a pretty good unit.
The big question, would I recommend it? Yes, with caveats.
Would I buy it again? Probably unless I could find a stronger one within the same price range.
It's a good basic trimmer and it you understand what it is intended for and don't expect it easily power through heavily matted hair. It will cut though even the thickest hair but it will be slow going.
