5.0 out of 5 starsMy Aussie actually lets me use this on her
Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2019
These clippers are superb value. My aussie began getting deep matts close to the skin and brushing it out completely just wasn't going to happen. She is skittish of motorized noises but she tolerates this. It also has a #7 guard which means we can "shave" her without her looking shaved, so her coat and skin are still protected by 1"-1.5" of coat length. Aussies are not supposed to be shaved short so this guard length was the reason we bought this clipper set. That said, the clipper guards are a bit flimsy and they do snag her coat even after brushing. But it is not severe and does not really diminish effectiveness. It takes around 45 minutes for me to shave her back and sides on a #7, her legs on a #3 or #4, and her chest on a #6. The clippers do get hot around the time we finish up. This has saved us so much money and hassle. Our aussie handles it really well now (we use it monthly, so around 8x so far). But my husband actually started using these clippers when his beard trimmer bit the dust and he prefers these to his regular trimmer now! This set comes with decent shears (not good for overall coat but does help with paw fur and leg-torso creases), 7 guards, 3 clipper head settings, clipper oil and cleaning brush, and a carry case. The noise is not quiet but not horrendous either. The only noise that actually is bothersome is the distinct popping sound of the power lever when you turn the clippers on and off.

==================
I bought this clipper based on the reviews. I can't imagine anyone that has given this more than 2 stars has actually used this thing. Aside from the fancy case and body, this thing is garbage. Save yourself some money and just buy one of the $10 clippers for humans. It's the same motor with the same speed.

My experience...

I have an old Airedale that can no longer go to the groomer. It is too hard on him. So, we thought we would try to trim him ourselves.
Putting the longest attachment on (#9) and slowly trying to run the clipper over the dog, almost no hairs were actually trimmed. To get this PoS to work you need to grab clumps of his fur and sssssssllllllllooooooowwwwwwllllllllllyyyyyy work your way through it. We eventually set the clippers to the side and decided to use scissors.

Would I buy again? NO
Would I recommend it? NO

Updated Review: 5 Sept 2016
======================

My original review was pretty scathing and it was an accurate experience, however, my expectations of the product were unrealistic. I recently just used the same trimmer on my old dog again with the understanding that it will be a slow process and with that in mind, it worked really well. I would still like a stronger motor but overall, for the price, it's a pretty good unit.

The big question, would I recommend it? Yes, with caveats.
Would I buy it again? Probably unless I could find a stronger one within the same price range.

It's a good basic trimmer and it you understand what it is intended for and don't expect it easily power through heavily matted hair. It will cut though even the thickest hair but it will be slow going.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet, Smooth Cut, Reasonably Priced, No More Paying Groomers!

I bought this set a couple of weeks but was afraid to try cutting my Yorkie pups. Today after watching a video I found on utube, I bit the bullet and pulled it out. The pups went to a groomer a few weeks ago but their hair grew fast. One has long hair and one has short. I started with my short haired first and thank goodness she sat well for my first time. I think the big part of it was the trimmer is not very loud at all. I went through 4 attachments to experiment with until I found the one I wanted for her. I was so impressed how easy it cut and how fast it went! By the time I was done with her, I decided to try my long haired. I was so pleased how easy it went through his long thick waving hair. I had heard you have to watch the trimmer so it does not get hot & burn the dogs. I worked quick because the pups attention span at this time is very short but I kept checking. It stayed very cool. It comes with a tiny bit of oil to help keep the trimmers in good shape and cooled during your use. It is not much so buy extra. The cord is extra long so it will reach far if you have a big dog. The only thing I was disappointed with this set was it did not come with a 1 inch attachment for longer hair dogs. Knowing that ahead of time, I bought an extra set that did include it. I am very please at how much money I am going to save by doing the job myself instead of at the groomers. I would highly recommend this set!

4.0 out of 5 stars New at clipping and I am Highly Satisfied!
Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2014

2015 Update...I have had these clippers for almost a year...I would still recommend these clippers with some things to consider. We have used these clippers many times on our dog in the year that we have owned the clipper. It still works with ease with or without the attachments on our dog's coat, and it does a good job. However, It has however gotten much louder throughout the year...which I don't love. So I make sure to give many treats to our dog to help ease the experience. The blade also has gotten loose so be sure to tighten it up. Also make sure to oil it as well. Overall, I still recommend, but keep in mind it can get louder as time goes on.

Powerful, Durable, Reasonably priced...so far very satisfied! I would say that I am very hands on with my dogs...bathing, clipping fur, nails, etc., however I am not a professional nor have I EVER groomed any of my dogs with a clipper. This was my first time buying and using a clipper and I am very impressed! The biggest concern I had in ordering this clipper was the sound...so as not to scare my dog....I read the reviews and people stated it was quiet but I just couldn't imagine what the sound would be like. The comfort of my dog is top priority. Most dog's I know, including mine, don't love being groomed and they don't love loud scary noises. So I must say I am pleasantly surprised at the low hum on this clipper. Quite honestly the loudest noise was turning the unit on, for some reason it is a very loud click, which my dog did take notice to. Not sure if that noise will subside with using the unit...maybe it is just super tight from the factory...If they could fix/change that in any way though, that would be great. That being said, I also garnered the assistance of my husband as well for this first endeavor clipping for extra hands on for movement by my dog for safety, but I am sure I can do it by myself down the road. I also did watch the video first for help/instruction...decent video...slightly dated, however. I should also mention when it arrived I was concerned as I opened the box the cover said for fine/thin/medium hair only and since I didn't see that, or I missed that, on the Amazon website...I thought perhaps I ordered the wrong type clipper for our dog's coat...He is a mixed breed and his coat varies...some thin, some medium and also some coarse fur. But this clipper with the various attachments worked like a charm. We showed him the clipper first...let him smell it, we rubbed it against his body while it was off a few times, praised him, gave him a treat, and then we went to work with it on. Yes we also employed food/treats as our dog is food motivated, so with the help of some steak (yep we pulled out the ultimate tastiest treat) we were able to groom him with relative ease. Again, our goal is/was to keep our dog as comfortable as possible also while getting him used to this so we will be able to eventually do it without food/etc. because our dog will hopefully be fully accepting of it. It did get slightly warm/hot while grooming after 15 minutes or so, so just be aware of that. I ordered an extra bottle of oil to go with this from WAHL as well to keep this clipper in good condition as the oil you get with the kit is very small. I love the various attachments included and I did use them all. They are very easy to attach. The box to keep them in is ok...better than no box but would be better if it had compartments. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase mostly because my dog's comfort was top priority and I was able to get that with this clipper. Lastly it will save me money in the long run as generally, in our area, it costs $65 or more for the dog to get clipped so I am very pleased that this is a good option for us. I have to say that I would highly recommend this clipper! Great purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Timeless Staple
Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2015

Update November 23, 2019:
After 4 excellent years I decided to see if technology and competition had made these clippers obsolete. My blades finally wore out, I purchased a cheap off brand replacement and it didn't go well. So I bought two other brands one less expensive and one more. Both were huge disappointments. So in spite of some varying reviews I purchased these clippers again.

These clippers still go through my lhasa's fur like butter. They are quieter than my last set. With care they can cut out the occasional tangle or little mat. While he is not very cooperative, I still feel like I achieve an acceptable cut.

I appreciate that these clippers can still handle lion level manes. I'll be sure to update if needed. After years of use I am happy to recommend these without reservation.

August 2015: This product has revolutionized the way that I groom my dog. I should preface this by saying that my dog HATES having his hair cut, and groomers have always over stressed him. He is a Lhasa Apso. Here is my breakdown for the product:

It comes in a nice case. The apron is cheap material but effective. It has a variety of sizes as well as an oil and brush to clean your new clippers. The comb is basic and works on my dog's coat very nicely. I also liked the scissors with the rounded tip to protect my dog in case he has a quick/startled movement.

The video is honestly a great bonus. It went over cleaning, lubricating, prepping your dog, and grooming styles. The video is short and to the point. I found the tips to be very helpful throughout the process of grooming my dog.

The clippers themselves are amazing! The tool has just enough weight to feel sure in your hand. The noise and vibration level is very manageable. The noise level didn't scare my dog, and the vibration didn't bother my hand. The vibration of the clipper actually tickled my dog at times, and he is normally very nervous about clippers.

This set shaved the time it takes to groom my dog in half. It reduced the stress levels for me and my dog. He looks absolutely adorable! This tool is budget and pet friendly. If you have a dog that is stressed easily or does not do well with grooming this is the tool for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good electric clipper for cats
Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2015

First of all, I'm not a professional barber by any means. I just needed a practical tool that could save me money. This is a very good electric hair clipper. It costs more than regular clipper, but I always believe: you get what you pay for.

I have 2 very matted cats. Around my area it costs $50 to shave a cat, and there is only one person does it. I bought a $20 electric shaver made for pets, it was not working as I had expected. It took me 2 days to shave half of cat hair because of its slowness. It also heats up very clearly which makes the cat uncomfortable. This model (U Clip Deluxe Pro) takes about 30 minutes or more to get hot.

Then I stumbled upon this WAHL Deluxe Pro.
- Good RPM to ensure cut through the mats.
- Long cable to ensure continuous shave as opposed to wireless that needs to be recharged and does not last long.
- Includes all the guards with different colors.
- Includes a plastic apron to cover your chest.
- Includes small hair brush to clean the guards and blades.
- Includes a black plastic comb.
- Includes oil lubricant for the blades.
- Includes a red plastic box to keep everything inside, neat and tidy.

I'm sure you can also use this to cut dogs hair but I have not tried it. Bottom line is a good buy. It saves me a lot of money and time. I don't recommend to cut humans hair though.

These clippers are AMAZING!!! I had no problem cutting my shih tzu puppy's hair. His hair was about 4 inches; long when I finally decided to cut it, and the clippers worked well. They did not get caught anywhere. My husband, who has been cutting his own hair for years, used them to cut his hair and couldn't believe how well they worked. Yes, this is me telling on my husband :-). He paid much more money for his hair clippers than I paid for these, and these work better than his expensive clippers. My only suggestion to first-time do-it-yourselfers is to be gentle with the clippers when the attachments are on. They are very hard and without knowing it, it is easy to be rough and not realize you're being too rough. I've never cut a dog's hair before, and I was about halfway finished with his back and one side when I accidentally touched my arm with the clipper attachment and realized just how rough they could be. I wasn't hurting him while I was cutting his hair at first, but I'm sure the first couple of swipes with the clippers were not a comfortable experience for him.

The DVD was a great help, although they could have been more specific with each breed. They explained everything on the first dog they cut, but then only did really quick (2-3 minute videos) of each of the other breeds. However, for my shih tzu, the body was shaved, while the face, legs, and paws were where the most technical detail was needed. The DVD did cover the face--but for more detailed instructions on the paws, you need to watch some of the other cuts on some of the other breeds.

Finally, I would make sure to use the apron they send. I did not--the only experience I had with clippers prior to cutting my puppy was shaving my brother's head (no attachments, on the shortest setting with only about 1/4 inch; of hair to cut, ha ha)--and I was covered in hair!

**Update: I used the apron that came with the set, and it did help keep hair away -- for the most part. However, the clasp at the top does not hold the strap that goes around the neck well, and the strap often comes loose. To prevent this from happening, I just tied the end of the strap around the part of the strap that is above the clasp. This keeps the strap from slipping through the clasp.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trusted Wahl name and trimmers save you grooming $$
Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2015

In 2 uses of this, I paid for the darn thing and saved myself future expense at the groomer.
I ordered this because I was TIRED of giving my $$ to a mobile groomer. I have 5 dogs, 2 of which are Yorkies that require regular grooming.
At $40+ per dog for a groom and every 3-4 months they need groomed, I was spending close to $500 a yr for grooming 2 dogs.
Either you drag 2 dogs to a groomer where they are washed and sit in a kennel for hours to dry until they are finally clipped on or you pay a travel fee and higher prices for a mobile groomer to come to your house. I opted for the latter and after 2 yrs, I was done.
When 2 grooms and 2 nail trims for my other two dogs made me write a check out for over $100 (and tips included in that), I started checking into dog trimmers.
The Wahl name is a trusted name so after looking at the pricier ones, I settled on this one. I saw it on Ebay and I have Amazon Prime so I could get it faster on Amazon than waiting for Ebay shipping. It's simple to use once you read the booklet and do a practice trim on your dog. I happened to have a friend who used to trim her own dog and she showed me how to do it and now I have no fear on using this on fuzzy dogs.
You have to start with a clean dog. Dirty dogs will dull the blades faster.
Always start neck down and work towards the tail.
NEVER start with a bare bladed trimmer. They heat up fast (you need to touch them frequently and if they're hot to you, they'll burn your pet). Do the bulk of heavy trimming with a #1 or #2 blade tip and practice. HAND TRIM with scissors the face and feet.
Easy to hold, comfortable, this trimmer gives a precise trim.
The kit comes with a nice storage flip tab lid, scissors, the trimmer, trimmer blade covers for less bare trimming, instructions

The only negatives are:
it's got a louder buzz
the bare blade heats up fast and if you aren't conscientious you risk burning your pet

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Pet Clipper

I purchased this clipper to groom my Havanese who has very silky, hair which is on the thick side. The blades are nice and sharp, and it does do a decent job of cutting her hair. There is no pulling or tangling as long as she's brushed out well before. The only thing that could use improvement in my opinion are the guards. They are plastic and not quite fine enough to lift up all the hair. I do have to go over it a few times and sometimes lift the hair with my hands since her hair is so silky and smooth. Overall, it is the best clipper I have had so far for the price. The cord is pretty long, and she is not afraid of the noise from the clipper. It is a medium loudness I would say. I feel it's a good clipper if you are just starting out home-grooming your dog.

These shears are great for saving money and making your dog there talk of the neighborhood. They work great for my little poodle she may look like a 13 year old girl that decided to give herself bangs but hey, we’ve all been there. These are easy to use and easy to change the guards. My only somewhat, is it even worth mentioning complain is that it they get a little warm after you’ve had them on for over 45 min because your dog has trust issues and now won’t even go outside during daylight because she’s too embarrassed of her looks.
