The taste is extremely tart or equivalent to eating dried grounded, lime peels. You can mix it with almost any beverage, but I train fasted so I just guzzle it straight. It may tie up your stomach rarely, but I found an additional glass of water will help move things along. Its also a great vasodilator --- if your interested that side-effect -- which is part of how it works. How much it shows depends on your leanness, but mostly your genetics.
As for pumps, I don't notice it that much, but the effect differ greatly from person to person. Again, its a genetics thing since some people claim enhanced pumps from creatine, which I don't get. I've experiment with ratios (L-citrulline, 1:1) and 2:1 works best. You actually need the combo malate (malic acid) for it to work.
The recommended dose is 6-8 gms, but I've had no issues using up to 16gms -- which is the point of diminishing return for me. That is, it doesn't work any better after that.

Today I got it in the mail. Put a scoop in my water bottle and it was sour. No real additives. I consider that a bonus. I don't want a bunch of s*** in it. So props to Primaforce for that. It's not a bad taste, just not a great one either. Unlike my caffeine based products this took about 10 minute to hit me. It was soft, yet oddly serene in comparison. I had lots of energy. I even danced between sets. No heavy heartbeat, no light headedness, just a clean soft amp you could hardly tell was there. I don't know how to describe it. It's more of a mental amp than a body amp. I could sit through a lecture with this stuff.
However, I did crash a bit after I took a break at the start of hour 3. Then in about an hour of relaxing I felt pretty good again. Didn't feel awful during the crash, just tired. I attribute that not to the citrulline malate, but to the fact I am use to heavy caffeine products that are seriously way unhealthy.
Do some research and ask your doctor. They'll give you a lecture and a half about how bad most of caffeine based pre-workouts are for you. And I quote my doctor "at your age, your heart is like an old horse, you can beat it and whip it to make it run faster but eventually something is going to give and the horse is going to drop dead". He and another doctor nearby went on to read the ingredients on both caffeine products I used prior to Citrulline Malate. They shook their heads and pointed out like 10 ingredients that were just horrible for your body. My doctor was a body builder for most of his life so he knows his s***.
So far I heartily recommend this but will update if I have any issues.
