Be prepared to wait.
My initial system update took 2 hours. Then I threw in my game and after 3 hours, it was at 80% so I went to bed. 6 1/2 hours later, it's at 91% so I went to work and it finished by the time I got home.
Really... this was ridiculous.
However, now that it's installed, I'm having a blast. Functionality is great; features are fun, and snappy.
I like the idea of "instant on," which makes your console stay on in some way, so it downloads your updates while you're not using it and start up is very fast, like a few seconds fast. Also, if you pause your game and turn it off, when you power back up, you can just resume your game; very nice!
Graphics are amazing at 1080p, I'm looking forward to getting a 4k tv, I know that'll be great.

My only beef is the initial update time and game installation times... ugh... it's horrible... microwave generation is to blame I suppose.

The price was terrific and has worked great over the past 3 months! The only thing, it did NOT come with GOW. I had to call Amazon because that was part of the reason I bought this, though I don’t have intentions to heavily play this game, it would’ve been nice to have the option when it was advertised as being included.

However, I love Amazon for this. Though the rep was hesitant at first, after about 10 - 15 minutes, he sent me a free $25 Amazon gift card to buy the game. Because I wouldn’t really play the game much, I was tempted to spend it on other Amazon products that I was going to purchase. But because they we’re great and honest with me, I felt it only best to do the same. Granted it is a really fun game so I was pretty happy in the end.

Great "base" system for the price....

Purchased this for our teen for Christmas. He's happy with it. Would definitely recommend purchasing the 1TB system as the games can fill up the hard drive quite quickly.

Pros:
Easy to set up
Excellent graphics
Easy to use interface

Cons:
Doesn't come with rechargeable batteries or a charging cable (Need to purchase those separately)
Gears of War 4 doesn't come on a disc - it is a HUGE download, so for those with slow internet speeds, it can take a very long time to even be able to play the game.
Did not come with codes for the other Gears of War games (I'm assuming we'll be provided with the codes later as some have stated) Which is a pain if you think about it. People like to play the series (or at least we do) and would've preferred to start from the beginning rather than play this one first then go back to the others.

While it's not a huge issue - this system only comes with ONE controller and no charging cable (as mentioned above). Make sure you either purchase a charging station (preferably one that will charge multiple controllers) or the charge and play kit to go along with it or you're going to need to stock up on quite a few batteries.

I would also highly recommend purchasing an additional controller - trust me on this, you will want an extra controller around for those days when friends are over or to have on hand when the other controller needs charging (if you're using a charging station).

Price wise, this is great for the base system, but the need to purchase extras to go with it, drives the price upwards of $100+

This system came with a 14 day trial of Xbox Live Gold - it took a few tries this morning (Christmas morning) to get the code to go through. For those wanting to play multi player games online you NEED to have Xbox Live Gold in order to play online - we purchased a 12 month card online this morning because we completely forgot one was pretty much needed.

This new version Xbox One S 1TB Console White looks impressive with that clean finish surrounding this beauty of a beast thtat sits well in any setup. This console is a huge upgrade from previous Xbox One console build. The console is way less bulky with a much smaller syatem and don't forget this version doesn't need the gigantic power brick which for me is a game changer. Speaking of games this console had many games from a few of the more underrated exclusives to the many still awesome Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible games. The console not only makes games look better, but they play better and the system is surprisingly quiet even in even the most intense gaming moments. Shipping for me was super quick and the packaging couldn't have been better which is very important when purchasing an item such as this one. Purchased this as a gift but I've used the Xbox S many times to review. The gift Xbox wasn't damaged in box as I've seen from other sellers. The console is in full working condition and my friend was ecstatic to have the ability to play Minecraft Xbox One Edition with friends not to mention the Gears4 campaign (9.5/10 campaign 👍). The Xbox One S is so much quieter than the original Xbox One, it's quicker, smoother, sexier.. Yes a console can be sexy. Personally not as pretty as the 360 Slim but easily one of the nicest looking consoles. The original Xbox One isn't very travel friendly, it's bulky, I've had issues with it freezing up or the disc tray clunking. This one is way more durable. The matte surface doesn't show every single scratch and device is just solid. The console runs smoother, doesn't freeze nearly as often, and the picture quality is stellar. For the same price you can get a pretty solid PC from Amazon Refurbished Center, but if you are into competitive online gaming the Xbox One S is the best option. As far as colour options, my personal favourite is the Storm Grey though the actual console colour is lighter than what the box shows. An overwhelming amount of my friends love the more expensive Gears of War 4 Crimson Red console. But if you just want to save money and still get a great console, the solid white is a solid choice.

Great console. I have a major issue with the 4k picture that the Xbox One S is known for. So I purchased the Xbox One S for the 4k Bluray and 4k display for upcoming games. Now the issue I have which is not the fault of the Xbox is that my 4k UHD t.v. does not have HDMI 2.0 ports/slot. The reason this is obviously a problem is - is that the Xbox One S will NOT display 4k Bluray nor upscale games if you do not have this port. I gave it a 5 star rating because I came to terms that this was in no way the fault of the Xbox.

Few facts and tips that people should know before purchasing Xbox One S
If you wish to purchase this for the 4k, make sure your t.v. has HDMI 2.0 slots. Even if you have multiple HDMI ports not ALL of them will be HDMI 2.0
Xbox One S displays 4k picture/bluray as well as games. Where as the PS4 ONLY once again ONLY displays 4k games
Xbox One does not have many 4 player couch co-op games aside from the typical sports and shooters.
Possibly the most useful tip, if you don't have a 4k t.v. with HDMI 2.0 ports just get an Xbox One over the Xbox One S

This bundle at the base value (Gears of War 4 + 1TB Xbox One S) is a decent deal but often it can be found with extra bonus games or a $50 voucher for the Microsoft store. When I purchased this I was able to bundle it will Call of Duty Infinite war for $379 (Black Friday - 2016) if you can find a similar deal I'd recommend it as this is, in my opinion, the best console experience having earned a PS4 and disliking it.

A common theme with this review is that I will compare it to the PS4 experience as it's what I had for several months before donating it to a family member.

The Xbox One S is a great console for several reasons, the back catalog of games you can play is nearing the thousands and with Games With Gold (Xbox Live Gold Subscription $60) and EA Access ($5/month), you can have dozens of games (some new) every month with cheap subscriptions. In the last year, there have been dozens of good games for free on GWG which also happens on PS4 with Sonys program so this is an equal benefit for each owner. The big difference comes with EA Access which Sony said didn't offer a good value for a gamer, you pay $5 you get access to dozens of EA Games for the duration of the subscription and can cancel at any time, I cannot see how that isn't a good value for gamers everywhere which makes me personally believe Microsoft is more focused on their gamers than Sony.

Another added benefit of the Xbox One S over the PS4 is Microsofts ability to give you cross-platform access to games, when you purchase a game for Xbox One or Windows 10 you have the ability to play it on both platforms regardless of the version you purchased if the developer supports it. To be honest at first this isn't as great of a deal as people realize as you're given the Windows Store variant which for some games is split off from the main PC community (Steam) for both servers and ecosystem but it is a start and Microsoft can push Valve due to it's ties with Gabe Newell in order to get better integration for gamers and allow Steam / Windows Store cross-platform play.

The Xbox One S also features a true 4K capable blu-ray player, This is something that the PS4 in any iteration lacks, it's also the cheapest way to get a 4K Player which given how much of a push TV companies like Samsung, LG and Sony are pushing 4K and OLED and the added benefits of HDR this will likely be a requirement unless the industry moves to 8K quickly which is where the real benefit is for home theatre users. The only issue with this player is that content for it is rather hard to find, there are only a handful of movies with more hopefully coming in the future as it's underutilized, I would much rather buy a blu-ray for $25 then go to the theater.

I also prefer the design of the Xbox One S, I prefer the look of this console over the Playstation 4, Playstation 4 Slim and PS4 Pro, they look out of place on my entertainment stand while the Xbox fits right in due to its design being similar to a DVD Player which may be a downside for some people but speaking from personal experience it looks at home next to anything.

In conclusion Microsoft is a gamer focused company, their console sales are lower because people bought into the hype of the 'power' of the PS4 being significantly higher, this hasn't effected anything and given its inferior ecosystem and Sony pushing focuses which are more focused on their bottom line rather than their community and the gamers that make up said community is why the Xbox One S wins out for me.

- Master Chief Collection
- Halo 5
- EA Access
- Gears of War (You have the fourth with this Bundle!)
- Titanfall 2
- Forza Horizon 3
