Product Description

Amazon.com

The Hitachi Dry-Cut Masonry Circular Saw features a powerful 11.6 Amp motor with a maximum 2,090 watt output to produce a no-load speed of 11,500 RPM for greater cutting efficiency. This saw is ideal for cutting through the toughest materials such as tile, marble, granite, concrete, and brick. The saw's design is specifically suited for dry cutting applications and also helps minimize the tool's vibrations and noise. The specially sealed armature coil is protected from dust and debris. The metal-seated ball bearing design increases durability by warding off potential motor damage caused by high temperatures and vibration. The 1-touch lever quickly adjusts the saw's cutting depth up to 1-3/8 inches, the short, 1-7/64-inch base-edge-to-blade distance allows for easier cutting in tight spaces.

This saw is built with a dust-sealed switch and has a D-shape handle with patented elastomer soft grip to absorb vibration, reduce slippage, and provide greater comfort. This compact, lightweight saw measures 8-1/8 inches in length and weighs only 6-1/5 pounds for easy maneuverability and less user fatigue. The saw accepts wheels with 7/8-inch arbors and maximum diameters of 4-3/8 inches. The saw comes with a premium 4-inch continuous-rim diamond blade designed for high-performance dry cutting, plus a wrench, a 10-millimeter box wrench, a 20-millimeter flange, and a 7/8-inch flange. This Hitachi saw is backed by a 5-year limited warranty extended to the original purchaser.

I needed a masonry saw to finish a project. Owning several Hitachi power tools already the choice for me was simple. The price is excellent here (best on the Web when I made the purchase) and delivery was quick. The saw lived up to my expectations. VERY solid and lots of power. The saw cut through the masonry like a hot knife through butter. The only negative comment I have is that the diamond blade went flat after approximately 3 linear feet of cutting but I did not expect much from a prepackaged blade. the job is done and I'm going out to purchase a quality diamond blade for my next project

I bought this specifically to build a concrete paver patio that had a completely curved perimeter. Didn't want to rent a wet-saw since I didn't know how long it would take and didn't want to buy one because I lack storage space. The paver blocks were 2 3/8" thick and the saw cut depth is only about 25mm (about 0.9 inches). I found the cleanest thing for me was to cut one side, flip the paver, cut the other and use a thin chisel to make the split. I developed a system and it took some time to get good at it. Lots of dust, I highly recommend a respirator and good safety glasses as chips do fly around. I bought a second blade but never needed it. For my homeowner project it sufficed and was a good value. It's a comfortable size and weight and good quality - I already have multiple other small projects lined up for it.

Just received this saw today. Used it to cut out some 1/4 inch grout lines. Cut with ease. This little saw is heavy and well made. It is easy to use and powerful. I give it 4 stars because there is no case. Otherwise it would be five. stars.

Update 2-9-2010: Change from 4 stars to 2 stars.

1. No case
2. 7/8 arbor. All of my existing blades are 5/8" arbor.
3. No tilt adjustments.
4. Ryobi makes a better one for a much lower price.

Probably not the best saw for the price. However, this is still a well made saw and very powerful. Hitachi makes excellent tools overall and I will continue to buy Hitachi.

This is a terrible saw. I bought on 8-8-2017, I used it one time on 9-22-2017 And the trigger doesn't work. It starts running upon plugging it in without pressing the trigger. And now Amazon will not take it back.

Very well made and versatile product. I have used to cut brick, wood, and tile. I highly recommend this product. Well made and durable.

This product is good, good for small materials. Like for regular patio bricks this product only cuts half way into the middle and you would have to hammer it with a plastic hammer. Also becareful cutting a little bend will damage the blade.

This saw has great power and it has proved invaluable in my current landscaping project. 11.6 Amps makes a difference. It cuts through pavers like butter with no need for water - just be sure to wear safety gogles that seal around your eyes, because lots of dust created. I have also used it on large masonry retaining wall blocks (6 X 8 X 10 inches). I score it all around the block, and then hit it with a chisel and it breaks right along the line (usually!). It doesn't have a laser, but it is small enough to see your line well. I purchased this for what the rental store wanted for a weekend rental for a nice wet saw. Now, this is different from one of those, but it still gets the job done on my schedule.

2.0 out of 5 stars Arbour on tool is bent.
Reviewed in Canada on April 27, 2019
This tool arrived new in the box, I plugged it in and turned it on only to find that the blade was wobbling slightly. after removing the blade and investigating I determined that the blade was not defective, the arbour spindle was bent, causing the blade to wobble. This tool might be okay if it was not damaged, its a little bit lighter than the DeWalt version, I purchased this because reviews on the dewalt saw were negative, especially regarding the water valve and components. However I purchased that saw instead and it works fine, I can always replace the water valve if I need to, the DeWalt saw feels better in my hands and the on/off switch is more robust and more dust proof than the Hitachi, it also has a lock-on function which is a life saver! The HItachi is slightly lighter in weight and the motor is quieter than the DeWalt, but since I am not cutting tile in a library.. the volume of the motor is not a huge concern. Two stars for the Hitachi because the decision to keep this tool over the DeWalt tool would have been much harder if the Hitachi arrived in working condition.

4.0 out of 5 stars powerfull good build quality
Reviewed in Canada on March 7, 2017
performs well, is of good construction quality, though expensive for what it can deliver. Doesnt really offer that much advantage over a regular grinder except for some specific applications, and even than I dont find it can really provide that much precision. There is no dust extraction neither is it rated to be used with water as there is no safety ground fault breaker mechanism on the cord. That means you will either need a helper to vacuum the dust during cutting or prepare for a serious amount of dust. I did dampen the material a bit to reduce the dust though. Some things you mite consider this for is cutting thin concrete, cement-board,backer-board, stone or ceramic. Though there is more practical and precise ways to cut those materials.

One thing about this thing though is it has a lot of power under the hood and that is always a sure thing.
