The wrong bait for the type or types of ants you have will not work and prompt you to believe that the product doesn't work as described.I bought the Hot Shot baits and then the Combat baits and neither of them attracted a single ant. Hundreds of ants walked over and around them without entering.I went online to get a positive identification of the ants I had. I found that I had two different types of ants and neither type is attracted to the chemical in the Hot Shot and Combat baits. I went on to find that the ants I have which were Ghost Ants and Crazy Ants would be attracted to a Borax based poison. So, I figured I would give these Borax based Terro baits a try. I put a blob of the gel on 6 of the cardboard cards included, and waited without feeling very confident. After about 5 minutes I noticed there was already more interest in these baits. After about a half dozen ants came to the bait they sounded the dinner bell. Within a few minutes there were many dozens of ants waiting their turn to get to the bait. They traveled back and forth feverishly for several hours and by the next morning there were no more ants. I thought that this couldn't be true or maybe just temporary. It wasn't. There is not a single ant remaining. In summary, I honestly believe that identification of the ant type is critical, as is determining which of the two basic classes of bait they want. Once you know what they are and then look up what they eat, you will know if you should get the Combat or Hot Shot baits (attracted to fat and grease) or these Terro Borax based baits for ants attracted to sweet stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked perfectly
Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2021
We always have some seasonal issues with ants--they become active in spring when the ground is still semi-frozen and saturated. They come in the house and then when it warms up and the ground dries out they go away. This year was different--we had a serious infestation in the kitchen--on the counters and all over--which we had never had before. We tried the plastic bait traps, but they were useless--you could literally hear the ants laughing as they walked past the traps. I tried other things for a couple of weeks, but it just got worse. I read an article that said the liquid poison was the way to go, so I ordered some. Above is the picture 30 min or so after I first put it out. Yum, yum, yum--all you can eat ant buffet. I put out another and in an hour it was full as well. It was actually kind of disgusting seeing them all clustered together like that. Anyhow, next day, 99% were gone. One straggler wandering around like the guy in The Quiet Earth. Ready to put out some more if I see any return, but super happy right now. If you get ants, don't waste time with the stupid traps and no need for nasty pesticides.
