Luke gets a life surprise when goes into a burning house and saves a lady and her young daughter. The lady having been his college girlfriend who he p!annex to marry. Only they didn't marry and hadn't seen each other for years. This is a great second chance story! A good easy read for a lazy afternoon.

This is a short, fast read of hot fireman Luke and his college ex Josie. He saves Josie and her child from a burning house and there are still sparks flying. The one thing missing from their relationship is trust and unanswered questions from their past. Luke needs to know that his suspicions were wrong in the past in order to move on. I wished the story was longer, but if you want a steamy romp then I highly recommend this book. On to book 2.

Luke had broken up with Josie years earlier because he thought she had feelings for his brother. When he races into a burning building to rescue a woman and her young child, he doesn't expect the woman to be Josie, yet he realizes that he still has feelings for her. For her part, Josie had never stopped loving Luke, and couldn't understand why he had broken up with her all those years ago.

This story fell a bit flat for me, and the main reason was that I didn't understand Luke's motivations all those years ago. He loved Josie, but he clearly didn't trust her if he thought she was interested in his brother. There was no reason given as to why he wouldn't have trusted her. He never gave her a chance to explain, although his brother, who at this point is deceased, had once told him nothing went on between them. Even all these years later, he's still convinced she wanted Ryan and I just didn't understand what made him believe that.

What didn't fall flat was the sexual chemistry between Luke and Josie. Things quickly heated up between the pair, and they had plenty of hot scenes together.

This is a quick read. I think if it had been flushed out a little more to make readers understand why Luke had felt the way he did, I would have enjoyed it more.

Woo-hoo! I really loved this novella! This novella is the first in the Firehouse 5 series and what an excellent start. Luke, Lucifer to his firehouse buddies, relies on his gut to get him in and out of fires safely. He's the one they send in to rescue victims because he's so good at rescuing and making it out alive. When he's called to a house fire, he goes in thinking it's a routine search and rescue, only to realize he's just rescued his ex girlfriend and her daughter.

Josie never knew why Luke suddenly left her all those years ago, but quickly realizes she's in trouble. Josie still has feelings for Luke. Luke believed Josie had feelings for his deceased firefighter brother, Ryan. Ryan always denied the claims and even went on to marry another woman. Ryan later died in a fire, leaving his wife and four kids. Luke decides he can never have a family because he doesn't want to see them suffer as his brother's family has.

When Luke's life is in jeopardy, will Josie be able to forgive Luke for walking out on her all those years ago? Will Luke finally decide a life with Josie and her daughter is a chance he's willing to take? I read a gifted copy of this novella and all opinions stated are my own.

Lost loves reunited but will they be able to keep the flames alive!

A sizzling short read with emotions and complete characters. Luke and Josie can't control their desires for each other, but Luke can't let go of his fears. I really enjoyed the read, but just couldn't seem to forgive Luke as easily as she does.

This was a hot little story. Luke and Josie finding each other again after so many years was sweet, but the chemistry between them is hotter than the fire he pulled her and Maggie from. Even through all the years, they've never forgotten each other and yearned for their lost love.
