$20 for a cable, what? You have to purchase a $20 cable on top of this $70 power brick, makes no sense!

Did some research into third-party compatible USB-C charging cable: for 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros, they need cables support 5A (not 3A) Power Delivery. All 5A cables are built with E-Marker power management IC for maximum charging performance and safety; the ones without this chip could potentially damage the laptop.Found two 5A USB-C cables: one from uniAccessories, 6.6ft/2m and one from CableCreation, 6ft/1.8m. Both cables have E-Marker chips and I bought one from uni. It works great so far.USB-C to USB-C Cable (6.6ft/2m) for MacBook Pro 15/13, MacBook 12 - uni USB-C Charge Cable Type-C to Type-C Fast Charging Cable [100W/5A] - for Mac, Google Pixel, Nexus 5X/6P, and More - WhiteI also purchased a USB-C to DP cable from Plugable for my 2K Dell monitor that requires DisplayPort to get full resolution.

It's apple, it's OEM. It works - don't even waste your time trying to save a buck on a knockoff. Why risk burning down your house, starting a fire while traveling or, frying your $2k laptop...

Bought this additional Apple power adaptor for my office. It works perfectly well. I had bad experience with a power adaptor made by Amavasion which I returned. My advice is to always use Apple accessories for Apple devices even if they cost more.

My first adapter that came with my MacBook Pro up and died for some mysterious reason, thus my laptop wouldn't charge anymore. I talked with Apple and bought a replacement adapter. Now my laptop charges at it's usual speed. Love the adapter, just wish it wasn't so darn expensive to replace!

I know Apple is expensive, I know they are a premium buy. The thing is, I don't want to take the risk of purchasing another product and have it explode or damage my systems. This is the price you pay when using an Apple product and this isn't an area you should try to save your money. Buy this adapter and save yourself worry, heartache and possible loss of equipment or health from a cheap Chinese knockoff.

It works, but it doesn't come with the USB-C cable to actually hook it up to your MacBook. Luckily, it is the same price as the previous (mag safe) version....

To be clear, I am not an Apple hater. Love Apple products and will continue to use them, but this one is horrible. I really, really wish I had simply returned this item. Once the sizzle started, the charger would only work randomly. Reposition it, ensure it’s tight in the outlet, etc. It technically still charges, but only for 10 seconds at a time. If I want to jiggle the adaptor every 10 seconds I suppose it would be fine. Swapped cords, tried it in many, many outlets; same results. It’s going to be a rather expensive paperweight now.

A home-run with this version of the power brick. Making the cable detachable at the brick end is a HUGE win. I had several cables on MagSafe bricks get damaged, requiring replacement of the whole brick, or servicing to get the cable replaced. With USB-C, that's no longer a factor. You get to choose the cable you need and both ends are USB-C. Apple is clear about the brick and cable being separate items. Some of us, at least, did know that, and do prefer it this way.
