The
galloip

The GALLOP! Scanimation lamp was shipped promptly, in perfect condition. I tried it out and it works beautifully. I'm sure it will entertain my granddaughter, as well as adults. My daughter is going to order one for a baby shower gift. It should be the hit of the party.

Really cute, but the motor dies very quickly (we've had 2 and neither one lasted 6 months).

When I saw this item I thought it was the best lamp for kids ever.
When it arrived my kid *loved* it. He loves watching it, he loves putting the different animals in, he loves the colors.
It worked maybe three nights.
Then the motor died.
Now I'm going to have a heartbroken child when he realizes that the lamp no longer works.

I am so disappointed that this great idea is so shoddy. I am so disappointed that my child will be sad because of it.

Don't get lured in by what a great idea this lamp is, because the idea is where the greatness stops.

Adding a note to this: it's a bad O ring.
I liked the idea so much I was going to Frankenstein a fix. We took it apart and found that there's a little rubber O ring that goes from the motor to the spindle that spins the animals around. Ours was broken, likely it's breaking in other lamps too.
We found a 'replacement' at a train hobby shop. Popped it in, put it back together and the lamp works again. A train tire with the number of DE-000029. It was an .80 cent item at our local train hobby shop, now that we know the size it'll be easier to replace if it brakes. The fix has been since mid-March 2014 running all night and it's still going strong.
