Product Description
In Celestia, a revamped version of Cloud 9, you board an aircraft with a team of adventurers to perform many trips through the cities of Celestia and recover their wonderful treasures. Your journey will not be safe, but you will attempt to be the richest adventurer by collecting the most precious treasures! At the beginning of a journey, all players place their pawns within the aircraft; the players start the game with six cards in hand (or eight depending on the number of players). At the beginning of each round, one player is chosen to be the captain of the trip and he rolls 2-4 dice to discover the challenges that they will face: fog, lightning bolts, killer birds, or pirates. He must then play the appropriate cards €” a compass, a lightning arrester, a foghorn, or even cannons €” to continue on the journey and reach the next city. But before the captain plays the appropriate cards, each player must decide whether to stay within the aircraft: If you exit, you're guaranteed the victory points that come from exploring the current city.If you stay on board, you hope to make it to the next city in order to catch more precious treasures. If the captain can't overcome the challenge, though, everyone comes crashing down empty-handed and you'll need to begin a new trip with all passengers on board. During the journey, each adventurer can try to pull out of the game with fabulous objects (a jetpack, astronomy glasses, etc.) or by changing the trip (modifying the travel or abandoning an explorer in the city). As soon as a player earns treasure worth at least fifty points, the game ends and this player wins.

The only thing is that we got the French version. Thankfully my wife knows a little French, we have Google translate, and the game has no words (except the instructions), but we would have preferred the English version of it. Amazon / the seller didn't make it clear that we were buying the French version instead of the English version. It seems like others received the English version, so I'm not sure what determines what version you get.

Over the weekend we've played ~5-6 times already and the kids have been engaged throughout. The other benefit is that each game only takes ~10-15 minutes to complete once you get the hang of it. So far we've removed all the "special" cards (kept the wild/turbo and compass cards though) and that made it both easier to understand and less cutthroat.
Lastly, this game plays better with more people and honestly only takes 5 minutes for new people to pick up on it. And because each game goes quick, new people don't have to sit through a 30-45 minute game knowing they won't win the first time through....they can play a quick 10-15 minute round and then start fresh and up to speed with everyone else the 2nd time.
The only complaints (minor) are that I can see the cards getting marked over time (we'll need to find some mini-card sleeves for sure) and that it doesn't really scale down to a 2-player game well. Seems to be a better game with 4-6 compared to 2-3 players.
The game is awesome, if u played cloud 9 then you would like this version as well. It's a very fun risk it game great on lol, really easy to teach and great for all ages kids to adults.
The game concept is simple. The players take turns as either passengers or the captain of an airship travelling from cloud city to cloud city. Along the way the captain was guide the ship through various dangers and encounters (represented by dice) by playing cards from his/her hand that allow the airship to continue along the path to the next city. Usually, only the captain can play cards to move the ship (but see below*). Each cloud city along the way you make it too is worth an ever increasing number of victory points. If the ship crashes before reaching the next city...you get NOTHING.
BUT...the key to the game is that the players must decide to stay/jump the airship BEFORE the captain commits his cards to continue the voyage. If you jump ship you score the victory for the city where you start the turn. But, you can stay and hope the current captain has the cards to move to the next city and score more victory points. Therefore, every turn is guessing game where the players look at the hazards the captain has to guide the ship through and decide whether or not to risk scoring more victory points by staying of the ship, or play it safe and take fewer points and depart the voyage.
*There are special cards (called "power cards") that the players can use to help/hinder the captain or even eject other players off the ship.
It's a great light family game that can be enjoyed by kids of all ages. However, there is ALOT of luck that can turn some people off, and there is bluffing, deception that some "take that" elements that some players may not like.
