I have read a couple of this author's erotica/romances and they are pretty well written and very steamy. She calls this one "not as dark" as some might expect it to be and this version has an HEA ending (unlike many other kidnap/sold books I have read) although Ruby, the young woman taken and sold to the highest bidder, goes through many changes before she gets to find her happiness.
Gavin, the wealthy sadist who buys her, of course falls in love with her and after a few intense encounters, things take a turn from dark to melodramatic and almost sweet.
I didn't "love" this one or find anything particularly unique about it, but no doubt this author knows how to write some steamy erotica and it was really intense. I found myself sweating and feeling all sorts of tingles while reading some parts...and at least this novella had plenty of lightness and some emotional moments to counteract the harsh cruelty that was found in others. A good one if you want a short read with a mix of light and dark.

This type of dark erotica is very popular these dayswith the emergence of kidnap,noncon,capture erotic romance,ie The Dark Duet,Tess of Tears,Beneath the Burn.These amazing authors really set the bar with their amazing talent and writing skill.I have not read J.Snow before but decided to check it out since I gravitate to this genre.Despite it's brevity and corresponding "priceiness";I found it to be well written,enjoyable attempt,though a bit rushed at the conclusion.As for those low rating reviewers who try to claim foul,the synopsis clearly explains what the story entails and unless (as far as erotic romance readership) you have been living under a rock,awareness of the favorability of these storylines is blatantly evident! So to claim innocence and then drag down an author's ratings seems to me negligent,unfair and quite frankly makes one angry!!It's fantasy people,erotic ( fiction)....which is why we enjoy stirring our emotions and desires by reading it....we don't want to see it on the evening news as fact!!

I had never read anything by this author but happened on this book because it was recommended to me based on other books I've read and I really loved this book. I just love dark reads and this one rates up at the top with some of my favorites now. This book may offend some with the plot but it was very well written.

Ruby finally decides to leave her horrible life at home only to be kidnapped and sold at a slave auction. Gavin isn't your normal buyer though and she couldn't have asked for anyone better to have bought her if you ask me. You want to hate Gavin and look at him as a monster but it's hard to keep that view with how he actually treats Ruby. He's by no means your normal "nice" guy but he just fits the story so well and fits her. They both just have dark sides to them, it's just that Ruby is just coming into her own and new to it all so she's in denial of course. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better book! Look forward to more from this author.

I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of emotional feelings between the two characters. Don't get me wrong... I realllly like this book, but most of it was about sex, nothing personal between the two of them. I would have liked to see the development of the relationship further into their future. That is the ONLY reason I am giving this book 4 stars. I read one of the 1 star reviews and the person was bashing the book bc the H purchased the h as a slave, all tho he never raped her and offered her a chance to return home. I mean really... did you go into this book thinking it was going to be all hearts and flowers????? Now.....

I LOVE a good dark erotic romance novel, but you people that have been giving these AMAZING books bad reviews just because they are dark are really P¡AS!ng me off!!!! You know it's going to be dark going into the book!!!! I always read the 1 & 2 star reviews before I start a book just so I know what I'm getting into, and almost all of the books that are somewhat dark ppl are leaving crappy reviews! I completely understand everyone has a right to their own opinion, but I hate to see some d@mn good books getting such bad reviews because you didn't read the narrative and get an idea of what you are buying. I am sorry if my ranting offended some of you, but just like you, I have a right to my own opinion. Thank you!

This type of genre seems to be getting more and more popular I for one love this type of book. This story is about Ruby and Gavin. Ruby hates her life and runs away only to be kidnapped and sold, her owner Gavin wants to own her body and soul, the story is about Ruby's journey as well as Gavin's, it is emotional, dark, and very harsh, there is light at the end of the tunnel which I won't spoil for you. If you like this type of book you will enjoy it. Can I just say after having read some of the reviews and quite frankly don't understand why some readers are shocked at the content as all you have to do is read the narrative it's so easy to do. Do not blame the author.

Bought by gorgeous, dark-minded millionaire/billionaire/trillionaire who falls in love despite his manta "I will not fall in love." It's pretty typical and forgettable. So much so I got to chapter 9 before I realized I had already read it.
