I thought the hdmi output didn’t work at first but turns out it was my monitor. You can tell the ND filter has been used as it’s a little loose feeling, but it works so whatever
Now, specs are one thing, but how does the camera perform? I think if you look around the internet, you'll quickly find that the FS7 gives you absolutely fantastic results in many production settings, whether it be studio or out on the documentary field. It is currently the #1 rented camera in the world, surpassing the original Canon C300. Vice has moved the filming on the FS7 and A7s. This camera, at the moment and for the foreseeable future, is dominating the world of cinema.
There are two things I highly suggest you do:
First, go to Vimeo and watch Philip Bloom's 52 minute review of this camera. If nothing else sells you on this camera, that review will. Also, if you do plan on buying this camera, you need to rent Doug Jensen's FS7 Masterclass on Vimeo. It is filled with a wealth of information that has helped me learn my camera tremendously faster than had I only read the manual.
The only thing I have mixed emotions about on the camera is the lens mount. On the down side, Sony E-Mounts are just about the weakest and flimsiest mounts you can get. They will not hold very much weight and will absolutely bend over time if you do not take care of it with lens supports. However, having an E-Mount opens this camera up to many new possibilities, most notably through the Metabones adapters. Metabones makes adapters from Canon, Nikon, and many other mounts to E-Mount, making your lens selection massive. They've also developed a Speedbooster Adapter, and thanks to this your image will go from standard S35 frame to Full Frame equivalent, and also let in one more stop of light. This is a major benefit and opens up loads of new opportunities.
Between the stunning 4k 10bit image, beautiful 1080p super-slow motion, 24bit uncompressed 48khz audio through the XLRs, and so many other features, I cannot recommend this camera enough. You will absolutely not regret this purchase.
