I love these headphones. So much so, that I recommend them to anyone looking for headphones. These are not the highest quality headphones, but the price you pay for them and what you get might be the highest value for headphones anywhere.
It doesn't block a lot of sound, but that is perfect for me because I start to slur my words when I don't get the feedback from my own voice for whatever reason. If you are listening to something wearing these, it is very likely that people will have a hard time getting your attention, but it doesn't make you deaf to the world around you either. I have used these for video games where sound direction is a huge advantage, and these headphones literally improved my ability to play such games, I felt like I was cheating by using them.
The microphone is high enough quality to accurately depict your voice to others, the static length mic boom is great too, as i hate the flexible mics that seem to always get in the way, or is visible in your periphery.
The headset is comfortable to wear, and I can wear it all day without noticing it too much. I do sometimes notice the weight of them on my head, they might be a wee bit heavier than most other headsets. The cover that protects your ear from the plastic is very comfortable, they are easy to remove to clean them when it's needed, and even replaceable if need be. It's been about 2 years and i am still using the same set of covers. They have an outer layer of plastic that gets wore down and starts to peel after a year and a half of CONSTANT use. I never understood why it's there, to be honest. The material underneath is softer and feels better even. After it starts to peel, it is rather easy to take that complete later off. My friend, that bought this headset based on my recommendation, says it is a tad bit cumbersome for him, that the headset is a bit too big to be perfectly comfortable on him. Although, my friend has said his head is a bit smaller than the average head, which might effect this point.
The cord is one of my favorite features about this headset. It is not a classic plastic cord, it is a woven cotton (I think it's cotton) cord. It is super durable, it would take actual effort to destroy this cord. The length of the cord is insane, my computer is in the corner of my room and i can freely walk around most of my room while wearing it. I haven't measured it officially, but it is around 9 to 10 feet long. I could see this being an issue for people with their tower on the floor, but it works perfect with my set up. The cord is harder to clean than a basic plastic cord because it's made of a woven material, and i think it might get dirtier too, if that's a big concern of yours.
There is a little control device about 2'7" away from the point it enters into the actual device (the headset). I do not know how they did this, but this is THE PERFECT length to grab it comfortably by reaching for it with your hand. It's so easy that i started using the mic mute button on it instead of muting my mic in different ways. It also has sound mute, and a volume up or down which controls the master volume on your computer, it is not an amp or anything. There is an LED attached to the control device that indicates your mic is muted when on.
There are red LEDs that turn on when in use. If you use it in a dark room, or sleep in the same room with your computer and dont turn your computer off during the night, the LEDs can be seen. This doesn't bug me, but my friend, mentioned that the headset LEDs can be a bit annoying. I honestly don't even know why the headset has lights, it doesn't increase the experience at all... It might make the headset easier to notice, for people when they are talking to you, or maybe when you are trying to find it? But i am not sure, I am stumped.
The sound quality is just fine! Not 100+dollars amazing, but extremely far from cheap 5$ fisher price quality
The microphone sounds clear and concise. Again, not professional stuff, but they aren't passed off to be like that. Your voice will sound great!
The headband isn't noticeably irritating, and the protective ear cushion is, well, it's cheap. It'll break down and flake apart over a few years, but those are optional, having used these as long as I have. You won't notice a slight amount of stress to the head and ears until you take them off if you've had them on for extended periods of time.
And again, I can't understate this enough; they lasted me six years before the sound started to cut out. HECC, if that isn't a deal, I don't know what is!
TL;DR: Quality's pretty damn good; don't expect professional. They're -solid- and they excel at it
Stress to the head/ears from extended wear is light to unnoticeable in double-digit hour use. Hell yea
Life expectancy with minimal care was 6 and a half years. Holy guacamole
All this for 26.99 USD before shipping. A literal steal in my books
Cannot recommend these SADES enough, honestly!!
Pros:
-Cheap. A headset of this quality from a name-brand company Logitech would run you 70 bucks. This is the main plus of this headset, in my opinion.
-It's pretty sturdy. Everything is a hard plastic, including the mic handle, so there shouldn't be much worry about damage unless you are trying to break it. It's not too heavy though, and doesn't put any strain on the top of your head, just kind of sits nicely around your ears. The padding around the headset and earphones are also pretty nice, they are heavy enough so that it isn't sliding down, and light enough so your ears aren't burning after sitting under the covers for 15 minutes.
-Sound quality on both the speakers and the microphone are good. This is probably what most people care about the most, so I should just reiterate this right now. The speakers sound good. The mic sounds good. No problems whatsoever. The sound is nice and clear, with no cracking or weird leveling going on. In terms of cheapo headsets, this is probably actually the best sounding one I've had. In fact, I've owned $60 headsets which sound far worse than this ever does. The microphone tends to pick up a lot of sound if you turn the levels up, which might be bad if there's a lot of activity in the house, but there's no muting going on whatsoever so whoever you're talking to should be able to hear your beautiful voice clearly no matter what.
-Cancels enough noise so that you are not louder than whoever you are speaking to and outside noise isn't distracting, but lets enough in that you aren't completely tuned out of your surroundings. It's a good balance - I've never liked noise-cancelling headphones since 1. You can't tell what is going on around you, and 2. If you breathe or sniffle or do something that isn't directly vocalizing out of your mouth, I find you can hear it disgustingly well under your headphones. These headsets do the noise cancelling right.
Cons:
-An excerpt from the product listing - "The microphone is flexible for exact positioning." This is a complete lie. The mic handle can be moved up and down but the mic itself is locked in position. The mic itself has zero flexibility whatsoever, and was kind of a disappointment when I first got this headset. I guess it doesn't matter, because the mic has two levels; "No sound", or "Picks up any noise in a room" and it isn't directional, so the "flexibility" wouldn't play a huge role.
-Hilariously bad driver installation and support. A disk is included with drivers on it, but this is near useless since these are a generic headset, meaning that Windows just recognizes them as a "USB Audio Device" and thus will just override your driver installation, meaning the only point of the disk is to install the configuration tool. If you are on Windows 10, you also get an unhelpful "Your system is not supported" when you autorun the disk - you have to look at the disk contents, where you see a Windows 10 folder, with "ENTER HERE TO SETUP", where there is a separate setup. That is ridiculous, if you weren't tech-savvy at all you probably would have just given up with trying to use the disk at all. Also, the configuration tool is bare-bones at best, with a lot of useless features and some hilariously bad translations to English as well.
-These are NOT COMFORTABLE WITH GLASSES ON. I noticed some people have put the opposite in their reviews which I find hard to believe, but only 30 minutes into wearing them I noticed some digging into my ear. I have two pairs of glasses, one with a heavier frame and thicker rims, and a cheapo Costco pair with plastic parts. After an hour wearing these with both pairs, it gets very uncomfortable and the headset tends to dig the glasses into your ear if you move your head. This is a pretty common complaint though, I have yet to find a discount gaming headset that is truly comfortable with glasses.
-The cord is not that light, which puts a lot of strain on the plastic USB cover if the cord hangs down on your computer (like on my tower). A couple of USB headsets I've owned have died due to the pressure finally breaking the cover and then the cord getting frayed over time, and that will probably be the end of this one too.
I should also note that this headset produces a TON of bass, which I like but I could see that being a turn off for some people.
All in all, it's a decent headset. If I could do 3.5 stars I would, there are definitely some glaring issues with it that will drag it down. I'll round up to 4 stars since the most important thing about a headset (good sound) is there. If you are on a budget like me these are a good pickup. If you are just trying to keep your monthly expenditures down, these are good for a backup headset. If you aren't on a budget, don't bother and just go for a real gaming headset (which are $200+).
Top reviews from other countries
