ProtectsLincoln shoe polish goes beyond its remarkable shine and color-matching capabilities; it also offers superior protection for your footwear. Its premium blend of waxes and oils creates a protective barrier on the surface of the leather, guarding against moisture, dirt, and other environmental elements. This protective layer not only helps prevent water damage and stains but also shields the leather from drying out and cracking over time. By using Lincoln shoe polish regularly, you ensure that your shoes remain in top-notch condition, maintaining their luster and durability for the long haul. Trust in Lincoln to not only enhance the appearance of your shoes but also to safeguard them, making it an essential part of any shoe care routine. |

ApplyTake a small amount of shoe polish on the soft cloth and rub it onto the shoes using circular motions. Work the polish into the leather, covering the entire surface evenly. Be sure to pay extra attention to scuffed or discolored areas. Allow the polish to dry for a few minutes to let it set. |
BrushAfter the polish has dried, use a clean cloth to buff the shoes vigorously. The buffing process will create a shiny and polished finish, bringing out the natural luster of the leather. Continue buffing until you achieve the desired shine. For added protection, you can apply a waterproofing spray designed for leather shoes. |
ShineWith these simple steps, your shoes should be shining like new and ready to complement any outfit. Regularly shining your shoes will not only enhance their appearance but also help to maintain their quality and extend their life. |
About Lincoln Brand
Proudly Made in America Since 1925
- Since 1925, shoe care professionals the world over have trusted Lincoln Shoe Polish. We made our name with our classic Marine Cordovan polish, trusted by generations of US Marines to deliver the classic military “spit shine.” Our polishes are standard-issue at police academies and military boot camps nationwide. Many of our customers tell us they will use nothing else.
- John Lincoln first developed his innovative shoe polish in his San Francisco kitchen during the 1920s. Today, we are proud to build on that heritage. Our products have always been made right here in California, meeting the state's strict standards for environmental safety and our own strict standards for quality and consistency. We produce everything in small batches, using formulas and ingredients our founder, John Lincoln, would easily recognize. In fact, we still use one of his dye machines to blend certain colors.
- We’ve lasted this long because our shine lasts longer. We don’t use cheap solvents, aerosols, silicon chemistry, or plastic sponges. We use genuine carnauba wax and beeswax in our polishes, and 100% pure neatsfoot oil in our leather conditioner. The results speak for themselves: a high-gloss shine that goes on evenly, fills in scuffs and scratches, and protects against moisture and wear.

When I first buy a pair of boots I wear them around the house to test them a bit, then add Obenauf's LP or Huberd's shoe grease with my fingers which adds a little hydration and resins for protection. The boots will absorb tons of the stuff. This helps relax the leather, especially around the toebox, and helps with break in. After a week or two, I'll add a bit of lincoln for protection, usually after the boots get a scuff or two.
I've just learned the hard way that, if you have to use hard toes, what would normally be a light scuff or glancing blow, even a slice, will cut the leather deeply because the hardened toe doesn't allow the leather to have any give when it is impacted. Next time I will add lincoln right after buying to give a little more protection.
Over the years I switched to cremes rather than polishes, so my tin of Bostonian carnauba polish (apparently not made anymore) lasted an extremely long time. Then for various reasons I learned how to give my best shoes that mirror-like reflective shine. When the Bostonian tin started running out, I tried Angelus (very good but not as good as I expected), and also Saphir Amiral (excellent but pricey). Then one day I noticed when browsing Amazon's offerings of shoe waxes: hey, it's Lincoln polish! And for less money than the "premium" waxes. After reading about its history with the UMC, I figured I'd give it a try.
It's funny how you remember distinctive smells after so long. My best shoes, and even PU leather boots, are looking better than when I used Saphir Amiral. This stuff is also cost-effective. It has so much carnauba that it's hard to apply, which is a good thing, and for that reason you'll get more from a tin of Lincoln that's bigger and costs less than Amiral. I don't know how this compares to Saphir Mirror, which I'll probably never try because it's so pricey.
Even if you don't need to spit shine your boots or other footwear this is an amazing product. Just apply with your polish dobber and brush with your horsehair brush for a decent shine.
I'd recommend this product to anyone that needs, or wants, to keep their black shoes looking good all the time. It's reasonably priced for the quality of product and like all other Lincoln products it's held up to their high standards.
Lincoln is my go to polish for boots and dress shoes. If you're looking for something that get that military "spit" shine almost as good as kangaroo polish then this stuff is what you're looking for.
The boot I'm wearing in the photo is a daily wear with 2 coats of polish after being stripped down and re-dyed.
You can get your boots to look like glass if you want to put the time and effort in.
