Is homeschooling

Do you feel like you're
working overtime in your homeschool ... but getting little results?

Or are you
thinking about homeschooling in the future, but it seems too difficult and time-consuming?

No matter what your homeschool style, how long you've been teaching, or how old your students are, you can make homeschooling EASY!

You need this book if you are...

    • a seasoned homeschooling parent looking for fresh ideas,

    • unsure how to homeschool older children,

    • wondering if you are "doing enough" with your homeschool students,

    • frustrated with the busy-work and ready to simplify learning,

    • afraid your homeschool student isn't adequately prepared for college,

    • a parent just thinking about homeschooling.

Author and long-time homeschool columnist Lea Ann Garfias is a homeschool graduate and has homeschooled her four children for the last fourteen years. She is currently homeschooling one elementary student, one middle school student, one freshman in high school, and one choosing from his scholarship options for college. It’s an exciting time.

Lea Ann has been a working homeschool mom nearly the entire time — working full and part time, from home and out of the home. She knows how hectic it is with homeschooling, work, church, and community. Keeping things simple is the only way to go. In this easy-to-follow book, Lea Ann shares what she has learned from two decades of homeschooling — as a student and as a mom. She also gives you real-life tips for keeping learning as easy and enjoyable as possible.

You can do it! Let’s take it easy.

If you're looking for an overview of teaching styles, stages of learning, and learning styles that's simple and not-overwhelming, you will thoroughly enjoy this. I personally appreciated the overview of the terms that have emerged in homeschool circles over the last couple of decades (such as Classical, Charlotte Mason, learning styles, etc.). I had never seen a book that presents them in such a clear, well-organized way where parents could get an overview and be encouraged to find what works for them. And I loved the simple and and clean layout, as well as the engaging, conversational (and even humorous at times) style. While I'm not homeschooling, as a homeschool graduate who has been active in ministering to homeschoolers, I can see this book as being a blessing to many. Disclaimer: I was given a copy to review, but the opinions expressed are my own.

I bought this book to use to encourage my work with my daughter. We started Freshman year this year and I needed encouraging words to pump me up. I started reading and found it was very elementary and only a very small portion applied to the high school years. I was very disappointed that the early years took up so much of the book and high school was just a leftover thought. I guess I expected more meatier information and a longer tribute to the last four years.

Lea Ann Garfias is one of those rare birds: a homeschool graduate and the mother of a homeschool graduate. She's still homeschool her younger three children at home. I agreed completely with Homeschool Made Easy. We all have a tendency to make homeschooling much harder than it has to be.

Over the course of the book, Lea Ann Garfias walks new homeschoolers through the homeschooling years. What, how, and why we should be teaching is explained. She discusses how homeschooling looks in different homeschooling methods and learning styles at various ages.

Homeschool Made Easy is an excellent book for beginning homeschoolers to read.

When I think about the cost of something and if I wish to purchase, I often compare it to other things I need. In this case, how much would it cost me to attend a homeschool workshop or convention compared to the $4.49 of this book. The book wins! Not only on price, but on value. In Homeschool Made Easy, Lea Ann takes away the guilt and pressure most homeschool moms face. She replaces those with checklists and confidence. Readers will come away knowing they can indeed homeschool their way.

I received a free copy for review. All opinions are my own. It's truly that good. :)

I wish this book was available when I first started homeschooling. The book contains many nuggets of wisdom that I ended up learning the hard way. The author gives a nice overview of the various homeschooling styles without trying to push the reader toward one philosophy over another. She also encourages you to really savor your child's learning stage and not push them into the next stage before they are ready. Just enjoy your children! I enjoyed reading this book and encourage anyone considering homeschooling to read this book...and read it first!
