Great Romantic Suspense

Behind Closed Doors is a romance, thriller, mystery, and suspense all rolled into one! This book has something for everyone; you will NOT want to miss this one. I especially recommend this book and series to anyone who enjoys a good romantic suspense!

The characters were complex and mostly likable, although I found myself constantly suspicious of the secondary characters. Jason "Red Bull" Wise is a famous professional millionaire poker player with a silver tongue. Skye is a waitress working two jobs in hopes of being able to save enough for law school some day, and I related to her instantly. They meet by chance after Skye wins a storage auction and they become entangled in a blackmail scheme together. Can two strangers trust each other and work together to end the blackmail?

The plot was steady, with a lot of action and suspense; it held my attention from the start. I liked the way the story built up and didn't feel rushed or completely predictable. The intimate scenes were steamy but also heart melting.

This my first book by Lisa Renee Jones, and I was impressed. I read the book as a standalone and found it easy to follow and very enjoyable. The inside of the book does mention that this book has ties to the Careless Whispers series and the Inside Out series, so I will definitely be looking those up ASAP!

This was just a damn good book! Like all of Lisa Renee Jones' stories, this one was full of intrigue, romance, suspense, love, but this one was a bit on the vanilla side for Lisa Renee Jones and guess what? I loved it!! This is the first book of Lisa's I've read that did not have erotica or BDSM, etc., although, it did have plenty of lust and love. A sweeter romance than her typical read but full of Lisa's meticulous writing and "hurry and turn the next page" feeling. I couldn't get through it fast enough.

One of the things I absolutely loved about this story is the way the author tied Behind Closed Doors, an Inside Out Series novel, into her spin-off Careless Whispers series. Wow! Ella? What in the heck is going on? Now, I'm more full of questions than ever about Ella, who makes her disappearance in the Inside Out series by Lisa Renee Jones and returns with her own series, The Careless Whispers, which is fabulous, so make sure you read it.

Ella makes a new friend, Skye, and talks her into going to a Storage Wars auction and Skye actually wins the bid. What she finds inside will lead Skye on a journey of suspicion, intrigue and runs her directly into Jason, aka, Red Bull, Wise who has a way of forcing himself into Skye's life on a weekend whim to travel to Las Vegas for a poker tournament. Oh, but the weekend turns into so much more.

Oh, but I cannot wait to find out just exactly what Ella is doing. Who is Ella? Really? I'm so fascinated. Behind Closed Doors is a full-length novel with everything you've come to expect from a Lisa Renee Jones book.

If you are an Inside Out Fan and/or a Careless Whispers Fan this book is a must read to gain more insight about Ella. Ella and Skye are friends. Skye is trying to save money up for law school. Ella, as some know from Inside Out series, loves Storage Unit Auctions. Ella is very intrigued about taking a chance on a storage unit to see what treasure one might find. She convinces Skye to buy a unit at Auction and take a chance. After purchasing one, Skye looks through everything and feels like she just lost her hard earned money with nothing to show for it except for a bus station locker key. Jason is a World Champion Poker Player. He has been raised into an unbelievable gentleman by two loving parents and is not only easy on the eyes but overall a good man. Someone is trying to disrupt Jason's world by giving the perception that he is not as up and up as he claims to be. Read this novel to see how a poker chip and a bus station locker key bring Jason and Skye together. Does Skye find the family life she has never had? Good things happen to Good People!!! I want to read this one again!

This books was fun and exciting from begining to end - something I have come to expect from Lisa Renee Jones. I am so glad I was not disappointed.

Skye has a plan - working 2 jobs to save money to go to law school. When her friend Ella (yes Ella from the Careless Whisper series, so good!) talks her into going to a storage room auction she stumbles on something that is definitely not part of her plan - namely poker player Jason "Red Bull" Wise and from their the adventure starts.

Jason is trying to get his life back - someone is blackmailing him and he needs whats in the storage unit that Skye just purchased. Mistakenly thinking Skye may know what the people behind the blackmail plot he tracks her down. Once he figures out that she is not involved Jason and Skye start to work together to figure out what is going on. From San Franscisco to Las Vegas can Jason and Skye learn to trust each other to find out whats going on?

I really enjoyed this story - especially the first 3/4 of the story. The build up between the two characters was fantastic and I loved them together. The introduction of Ella - someone I have grown to love from the Careless Whisper series was fantastic! Since this is prelude to that series we finally get to see what a bad ass she really is. That being said this is definitely Skye and Jason's story. Loved the dialog throughout the book, the scenes in Las Vegas were also fantastic. I felt like I was there. If I had one issue - the ending seemed to wrapup a little to quickly for me.

All in all another great story from this fantastic author!

This is a story about a rich and famous poker player Jason “Red Bull” Wise and Skye Montgomery. Skye is pressured to buy a storage unit that she can't afford while out with Ella. The unit belonged to a woman that had been blackmailing Jason. And Jason and his manager Daniel thinks she is involved.

Jason tracks Skye down at her apartment and talks her into going to Vegas with him for a poker tournament. Unfortunately, this brings Skye to the attention of the blackmailers and is now being threatened as well as Jason and his Dad.

Enter Ella who has always appeared to have a back story we were never privy to….well we get a bunch of answers to the mysterious Ella. She is just not a school teacher or a storage unit buyer.

Skye meets a lot of the folks Jason plays poker with, their family and friends but are they? Is there more to them than you see at face value. Is one of them involved in the blackmail scheme? Who can Jason and Skye trust? Where is Stephanie Smith? What does Stephanie have on Jason and who is she working with?

This is a MUST READ if you love the Careless Whispers and the Inside Out series! I can't wait for Surrender to release in January, 2017.
