I've had this book for about six weeks now, and I've made four of the recipes: ratatouille, curried lentil soup, vegetarian chili, and curried butternut squash and apple soup. All of them have been delicious, and were easy to make. I especially recommend the curried lentil soup. These healthy recipes have tons of flavor, and use interesting spices and combinations of ingredients. Everything I've made so far has been easy to prepare, smelled delicious in my slow-cooker, and most importantly tasted great. When I tell family and friends what I've made, they're really impressed! The dishes are a lot simpler to make than they sound (or taste!). And, for the price you can't go wrong. I have the print edition of the book rather than the Kindle, and I'm glad I do. The pictures are colorful and really pop, and I also enjoy being able to flip to the index and reference section at the back of the book. Highly recommended, and enjoy!

Receipes are good

I am a subscriber of Cooking Light and purchased this book to help me feed healthy foods to my family (that didn't require much effort). These recipes are very much CL-like recipes. They tend to have lots of spices/ingredients and taste delicious. I waited to write this review until I could sample a few of the recipes, and I can now resoundingly say that these are fantastic.
I made the following recipes with very few changes:
Curried Pork over Basmati Rice
Company Pot Roast
Provencale Chicken Supper
Sausage Jambalaya
Sweet and Sour Chicken
Chicken Korma
Caribbean-Style Pork
Beef Burgandy (not a fan)
There are some recipes that require you to pre-cook the meat and/or additional ingredients, but there are also recipes where you can just throw everything into your slow cooker without any skillets used. Most of the cookbook has useful recipes like those listed above, and although the book does have a few drinks/desserts, it is not wasteful in those categories.
I hope you give this book a good trial because if you like Cooking Light, you'll love this book. Happy cooking!

The recipes I've tried have been excellent. Easy to follow, easy to obtain ingredients, and excellent results. However, it is very time consuming to access the recipes. The contents page isn't "clickable". So after looking at the contents, you have to guess how far into the book the recipe you want would be. And then go page by page until you find it. I downloaded it on my ipad, since it couldn't be downloaded on my kindle. If you have the Kindle Fire you might have a different experience. And if that is the case, 5 stars would be the appropriate rating. Good luck!

I have been using Cooking Light books for a long time. I hate cooking and I hate dealing with “eating right”. I tried using many recipes from Oxygen and Clean Eating magazines and found a lot of those recipes required health food store searches and lots of money spent for an ingredient that you’ll only use once or twice. I love that cooking light incorporates easy to find ingredients that you’ll use over and over again. I used this book for my family when I was training after work for half marathons. It was nice to have great home cooked, healthy meals already prepared for my family when I got home. Fast forward years later, I then purchased this book for my brother who had a heart attack and his wife then left him 2 weeks later. Yes that really happened. He actually hasn’t used it yet but this will always be one of my go-to recipe books.

I bought this cookbook years ago. The book was used so much it fell apart and kept in a plastic bag. I am delighted to find a new copy. The recipes are delicious.

I was totally against getting a slow cooker. For some reason I had a real bias against all things crockpot. But then we got one anyway and ordered this book and I was totally surprised by how tasty some of the recipes turned out. Not what I remember from when I was a kid. The Smoked Sausage Cassoulet and Chicken Korma are two favorites, but I would recommend kicking up the volume on the spices by half and adding a little extra salt (which is true of all of the several Cooking Light cookbooks I have).

Easy easy recipes to follow. Very healthy n very very tasty. Use this thing all the time n try somen new in it like atleast every month. Highly recommend for a man who wants to cook n it he easy it is hard to ruin or burn something wen ure. Slow cooking.

This is a great cookbook that uses fresh and healthy ingredients. I needed a cookbook to go along with the Crock Pot interconnecting system (I reviewed this system). At Christmas I set up three Crock Pots (connected together) and used three side dishes from the Cooking Light Slow Cooker Tonight book. These were: Lemon-Rosemary Beets; Honey-Orange Carrots; and Sweet Potato Gratin. All the recipes were awesome.
Since then I have tried many other recipes in the book with success. The Veal Paprikash was an immediate hit but I used spiralized zucchini instead of noodles. Some of our other favourites are: Moroccan Meatballs in Spicy Tomato Sauce; Beef Stroganoff; Chicken Cacciatore; and Rosemary Chicken Soup.
The book has glossy pages with a beautiful photo for each dish. The photos give you an idea of what the final recipes look like as well as presentation ideas.

These recipes highlight flavour!

I like the recipes in this book because they contain "real food" and spices. They are not just a meat and a combination of soup cans. As a result the dishes have a distinct flavour depending on the combination of ingredients. There is also a bit more preparation required than opening a couple of cans. The extra time is well worth it from a nutritional and flavour aspect.

Excellent, healthy slow cooker recipes. These are not your quick dump recipes so most take more prep time chopping fresh ingredients. Lots of flavour variations.
The recipes are light due to reduced fat, lots of veggies and smaller portions.
