I'd only add to the many other fine reviews that the scope is fine. The optics are not Nikon but they aren't pellet rifle quality either. Out to 40 yards they are fine. Also they are lighted...and the much hawked finer scopes, many of them, can't boast that. I had intended to step up but the one I was circling decided to go up $60 from one week to the next so now I'm fine with the one that came with the bow.
When you're sighting in just beware that the paperwork cautions that if the arrows aren't moving on the target to run the screw way out and then bring it back in. As my arrow wasn't moving I ran it out 160 clicks and then brought it back. Also the maker warns that it can bind so you might need to "bump" the scope. Well well. Ha. Just don't let that put you off if it happens. The thing may bind a little on setup...or not...but once it's set it's set and mine whaps that old center dot at 30 yards every time now.
I started at 15 yards. I could have done 10 or 20 just as easily, they say. When I had that shot in I moved up to 30 and adjusted until I was hitting centers every time.
First ring 0-20 yards
Second 30 yards
Third 35 yards
Fourth 40 yards, give or take.
Funny thing...If you do what I did and sometimes hold on the wrong ring the bow shoots so fast that it is pretty forgiving. If you hold on the first when you should be on the second you'll still hit in the vitals.
Now...A caution.... You'll use your three arrows that come with the set to zero the scope but then you should switch to your hunting arrows, less razor blades. I chose the Muzzy 225 Bowhunting 100 Grain, 3 Blade Broadhead, 1-3/16" Cutting Diameter, 6 Pack and the Carbon Express Piledriver Crossbolt 20in. Moon 6pk 52140...
The combo I went with, broadhead less blades, shoots a tad lower than the arrows that come with the 370. So, for final sighting you should use one of your actual hunting arrows with broadhead. Or, if you're going to use the package arrows at least affix a broadhead to see what happens.
What I just said is old news to many but maybe new news to some.
Last news bit. If you're coming from the compound community like me...beware...and I mean beware... Your old range may not be adequate for your new crossbow. Tired after much shootings, I had an overshoot and had to cross my fence to retrieve it from the neighbor's yard about 75 yards away. It went through my tomatoes (pling pling ding) and my weedy fence at that. I moved my target for a safer trajectory! The last thing I need is to have to go retrieve my arrow from my neighbor. Ouch! These things are POWERFUL! Think rifle and you'll be a safe target plinker for sure!
You'll do no finer than the Sniper 370 even if you're willing and able to spend more.
I haven't tested it with a chronometer but this bow is very significantly faster than another bow I have measured and know to be around 290 fps. I would estimate that this bow is no less than 350 fps, and I was using arrows with approximately 450 gn total weight, which is more than the stock arrows. With the lighter, shorter stock arrows, it probably is right around the 370 fps claimed.
Overall, the crossbow isn't particularly large but the cam system is well designed and that's where it gains enough mechanical advantage to reach the higher speed and draw weight over other bows in this price range. This also makes it relatively easy to draw and I would say it's not more difficult in comparison to other bows I've used with lower draw weights.
I didn't use the included scope or arrows but, with my own scope and some decent quality carbon arrows, I dialed this in to a 2 inch grouping at 30 yards without an issue. Most of that variance I attribute to my own unsteadiness and slight variations in arrow weight. The bow itself releases very smooth and consistently. The included scope looks very decent and I would have used it had I not already had a better one lying around unused.
The silencers work very well to absorb the aftershock but this bow is still fairly loud on the initial hit when firing due to the high power. There's not much more to be done to make a significant difference in noise reduction.
The only complaint I have is that one of the set screws for the stirrup didn't go down far enough to solidly lock it in place. It does hold the stirrup enough to prevent it from sliding back out so I think the groove on the stirrup was ground down too far and the screw couldn't go down far enough. Other than that, everything went together very easily and the provided instructions were pretty clear and had detailed diagrams. I'm not sure if they updated them since other reviewers purchased this, but I didn't find the assembly instructions lacking at all.
One tip I want to add for assembly: use superglue. This is a high powered weapon with lots of potential for things to work loose due to the repeated impacts and vibrations when firing. The damage from a resulting failure while firing could cause serious harm and an extra $5 for a bottle of glue is worth not losing an eye. You want to buy a gel superglue (so that it doesn't run onto other parts) that specifically says on the package that it's impact resistant. Loctite and Gorilla are both great brands but really anything should work - just make sure you read the package to ensure it's gel based and impact resistant. This isn't a pass to never inspect your bow afterwards either. Always check the tension on the major screws every season. Superglue isn't a guaranteed hold but it's 100 times better than nothing.
