From her early days as a young girl, mysteries have held a special place in Constance's heart, a fondness inherited from her doting grandmother. She reveled in the thrill of deciphering the masked identities of the culprits in these enigmatic tales. Sometimes, her predictions would hit the mark; at other times, she was left delightfully surprised by the unexpected choices of the author.

Today, Constance channels that passion for mysteries into crafting riveting stories of her own. It is within this realm of the written word that she thrives, spinning tales that captivate and intrigue her readers.

When not immersed in the enigmatic world of her creations, Constance can be found indulging in her favorite getaway: the shimmering, lively city of Las Vegas, a perfect contrast to her quiet Midwestern home. Alternatively, she might be engaged in her beloved pastime of hunting for deals, basking in the thrill of unearthing hidden bargains.

As a member of the ARC I am giving an honest review, it was a great book, at first it was slow, for me, but then it picked up, I am going to venture out and say that the violence that was written in the book was really hardly any violence at all, yes a murder was committed, but that happens in any mystery book, but it wasn't a gruesome one, and glass was broken and some words were written on them but that was it. And as it was my understanding this is the first book of this series so it is a good one, and it is funny it had my laughing until I cried. I personally don't really like telling what it is about because it ruins the books for some people, others already give the storyline, what I like to do is give the feel of the book, so here goes, the characters are done well, the plot is slow, but it does pick up and move quickly afterwards, I have read other books from this author and they are wonderful books and I do hope she comes out with a second book for this series, and I think she does....so if you follow this author I would recommend you get this book it is worth the read....

If you're looking for a book about a small southern town and it's quirky inhabitants, this book is for you. When murder shocks their town, Savannah, owner of the local beauty salon, with the help of her employees and the townspeople who gather at her place of business to share "news", decides to investigate. This story brings to light the age old question of "Do we really, truly know a person?" A very interesting read by Constance Barker.

* I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

The story moved quickly, the ending kinda abrupt and predictable. The characters were colorful the auxiliary characters were a bit too plentiful and hard to keep track of.

Savannah and her staff, at the Teasen and Pleasen Hair Salon, are the gossip center of the small town.

Everyone knows everyone else and everyone else's business. There could be no secrets.
But, there are secrets; many, many secrets.

When Savannah finds the body of someone who was always described as “sweet”, it makes no sense. Who would want to shoot Annie? Well, it turns out many people in town had reasons to want her dead. She was a cruel and hateful woman.

This small town in Louisiana, is populated by wonderful people. Every character is introduced in such a way that the reader wants to know more about them.

As the story unfolds, it is pretty easy to figure out the murderer. And the journey to the solution is a wonderful one.

This is the first book I have read by Ms Barker. I am so grateful that I found her. She creates wonderfully well rounded characters. Her humor adds a great deal to the action. And her descriptions are so precise, at times I could smell that certain moldy smell of a swamp.

I would recommend this cozy mystery to anyone who likes to laugh at the same time they are finding a villain.

Ms Barker, I look forward to reading another fun story by you.

A Hair Raising Blowout (The Teasen & Pleasen...This story is about Savannah and her co-workers/friends at the Teasen & Pleasen Hair Salon. Savannah is the owner of the salon, who finds herself wondering, what happened to the quiet, nothing to worry about happening, town she lived in when the woman who worked at the doctor's office was killed. Annie who worked at the doctor's office seemed to be a completely different person or at least her behavior was, from what Savannah thought. The salon was a good place to hear the latest news and goings on in the town, along with rumors that sometimes proved to be true. As the investigation gets underway, Savannah finds out that Annie had a lot of people who didn't like Annie because of the things she said or did to them. Some of them were life threatening to the patients of the doctor. Savannah finds out that a lot of the people she knew had "secrets" of their own, that Savannah didn't know about, but would give them a motive to kill Annie. Detective Woodley, is the one, Savannah should be talking to about things she is finding out on her own. But first, she does her own investigating, trying to figure out who would kill Annie. The story will have you trying to figure out with Savannah who killed Annie. It has characters you can identify with or maybe know someone like them in real life. The author doesn't disappoint with this who dun it cozy mystery. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I have read other books by this author, who has become a favorite of mine. Her writing is consistent, no matter what series you read from her, and is always a great read for a cozy mystery reader.

I seldom write book reviews since I am not a good literature critic and don't know a lot about good literature. I only know if I like or dislike a book and why. And this is one book I like.
The storyline with the secrets the inhabitants of the small town are hiding was very interesting and at times really funny. Which secret will Savannah uncover next while investigating the murder of one of the town's inhabitants and the disappearance of another?
Savannah is a very likable person to whom I can relate and that's another point why I enjoyed reading this book.

Judging from the title, I thought this would be an action-packed read. But as the pace crawled along page after page, I finally gave up and quit reading at 15% of the way into the book.
