Contains Alkaline Salts
I posted a picture in the customer photos section above.. I coated a paper towel with No-Burn and after 2 minutes in the raging fireplace laying on top of hot embers, the paper towel was still mostly intact. It took about 10 minutes for the paper towel to slowly turn black, but it never developed flames, it just slowly charred. The back of the label says that this contains "Alkaline Salts." You may know about spreading baking soda on a small kitchen fire. Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate, one type of alkali salt. Another alkali salt is potassium bicarbonate which is even more effective at putting out fires, and is used in some dry chemical fire extinguishers.Although I don't know exactly what specific alkali salt this is made of, I think of this as a spray that dries into a layer of a baking soda-like compound on the surface of the material.
