I'm almost finished with this study and cannot recommend it highly enough. I've been teaching the Bible in church for 20 years. Philippians is one of my favorite books to study and to teach ... so, honestly, I wondered if Denise would be able to bring anything fresh to a study of a book I've memorized.Word Writers does not disappoint! The gentle devotions Denise shares are insightful and encouraging. The study questions are challenging and thought-provoking. Her prayers at the end of each day's reading are both beautiful and meditative.But by far there are two aspects of this study which firmly set it apart from almost every other Bible study available —1. Denise did not include the biblical text in the book. I LOVE THIS!! I love the encouragement and necessity of looking up the Scripture for myself. Whether in my physical Bible or on my phone, it is a good exercise for all of us to remember the Bible is the primary text for believers.2. Writing the Scriptures out by hand every day. While I've always written out verses in my journals as I studied sections of Scripture, I've never written out a whole book of the Bible in this way before. It's such a powerful way to continue to meditate on the Scriptures and to soak in the truth they contain. I know I'll be adding this practice into any study I do from now on.I can't wait to start the next Word Writers study (and the next one after that!). If you are looking for a way to dig deep into the Word and you want a wise and thoughtful guide, these studies are just what you need!!

Word Writers does not disappoint! The gentle devotions Denise shares are insightful and encouraging. The study questions are challenging and thought-provoking. Her prayers at the end of each day's reading are both beautiful and meditative.
But by far there are two aspects of this study which firmly set it apart from almost every other Bible study available —
1. Denise did not include the biblical text in the book. I LOVE THIS!! I love the encouragement and necessity of looking up the Scripture for myself. Whether in my physical Bible or on my phone, it is a good exercise for all of us to remember the Bible is the primary text for believers.
2. Writing the Scriptures out by hand every day. While I've always written out verses in my journals as I studied sections of Scripture, I've never written out a whole book of the Bible in this way before. It's such a powerful way to continue to meditate on the Scriptures and to soak in the truth they contain. I know I'll be adding this practice into any study I do from now on.
