great unit for price point
It's hard to find a higher quality grinder at this price point that has all metal components. I like that the unit also has a "half" power switch that allows me to slow it down when making sausage and stuffing the more delicate casings. Like most grinders this one is noisy, but since this a commercial grade unit there is some sacrifice there that should be expected. This unit is strong though I mostly use it on cubed meat to make sausage, but I don't think this would have any problem handling fish, poultry or other small game bones for those that make their own pet food.Pros:-heavy duty-3 different cutting accessories-all metal componentsCons:-no stuffing tubes-noise levelThe larger stuffing tube in this set will fit this unit:Avan-Pacific Meat Grinder Univeral Sausage Stuffing Tube / Sausage Maker

Great value for the price! Just got it yesterday and ground up a NY Strip steak today, and it was fantastic! Overall, itwas easy to clean accept for the grinding plate with the little holes. I chose the fine grind. I used a plastic tooth pick, under warm water, to clean the holes. Just a little time consuming.

I would suggest cleaning all the parts right after you use it so that nothing dries up and it comes off easily. I put my burger straight in the fridge, then cleaned the unit.

It did have some black stuff, that came off on my hands, when I pulled it apart to clean (before use). I don't want to assume what that is, considering where it came from, but just scrub it down, before using. I let the first part of the grind go, and used the rest.

The Bad news: Product has many negative issues. No logo can be found anywhere on product. Booklet does not have any warnings or cautions for using the product. Booklet does not have any logo on it. Product is not stamped or labeled showing that it has been UL tested. Product is not stamped or labeled with country of origin. Booklet included with product is not very clear and concise. Illustrations are second rate and thrown together. A word of CAUTION: You will have to clean all the parts that come in contact with meat (they are greasy with oil - probably from the machining process). Make sure you clean the 3 blades before using. Product does not have tight seams, so likely it was created with low tolerances. (Blade and cord compartments aren't tight when closed.) Overall finish: acceptable. This is not an unit that many will display in their kitchens for guests to see. It will likely be used in a kitchen or garage to grind venison, chicken, pork or beef then put away after it is cleaned.

The Good news: Product works well. Grinds meat very quickly. Unit has some noise, so make sure everyone is awake before using. (Sounds similar to a hand drill. Noise level could be an issue for some users, but the unit went through 2 lbs of meat in about 35 seconds, so the noise does not last long.)

Unit will be returned. Even though the price was not excessive, I cannot overlook many of its flaws. This unit is NOT recommended by Scott Ayler. Spend more and get a name brand.

Works good, I can't say its the best thing ever but for the price definitely a good buy. Will bog down slightly if you put too much in it but I used it to grind about 10 lbs of deer meat and then later made some turkey salad. It did not grind the celery well. I should have cut it into smaller pieces first to keep from getting long strands of fibers caught up in the feed.

Where do I begin? This grinder is sturdy, durable, easy to use and clean, and a great price! My husband is a hunter, and I grind a couple of hundred pounds of venison each year. Two years ago, we bought this grinder, not expecting it to be so efficient given the cost. We were pleasantly surprised. I often have to grind twice: with a larger bopening, and then with a smaller one. I was able to use the smaller one from the start, which saved me hours! Also, we partially freeze the meat so it will slice more easily. This grinder handled the frozen meat without hesitation. I will say we had to replace it this year, but we did so happily - I ground over 500 lbs with the first one in the two years I had it.

Really liked this machine but something came loose on the inside and heard the clanking then metal came out. It is kind of loud and probably just lemon. Before this happened I loved this thing lasted about 3 months and processed about 5lbs every 1-2 weeks.

Very powerful, but I am using it for raw cat food, and even though it has no problem grabbing the thigh bones, it gets a big "wad" or bones and skin caught in the end of the auger right behind the cutter that blocks anything from coming out. When grinding just skinless and boneless chicken thighs it does a wonderful job. Maybe I have adjusted things wrong, I would love anyone else's guidance if they had the same issue and fixed it. Loud, I suggest wearing earplugs because the sound is rather high pitched.

I DON'T USUALLY WRITE REVIEWS... but I am making an exception regarding this purchase. Bought this to process elk. Worked beautifully without a hitch. We processed about 50 pounds of venison using the medium grind plate at a rate of about 2-3 pounds per minute. It remained cool while running continuously for about 25 minutes. The grinding components are aluminium-steel. Included is one cutting blade and three grind-plates: fine, medium, and course. The unit was very simple to set up and easy to disassemble for cleaning. The medium grind produced a burger slightly coarser (larger) than that which you find in commercially-processed beef burger. This meat grinder exceeded our expectations: we got 2.6 HP performance for the price of a <1 HP, non-commercial unit. The unit is as easy to store as any other kitchen appliance used on your counter-top. Great purchase.
