The year is 2005… For millennia, the heroic Autobots, led by Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), have been at war with the evil Megatron (Frank Welker) and his Decepticons over control of their home planet of Cybertron. However, an even greater threat—Unicron (Orson Welles, Citizen Kane), a colossal converting planet that devours everything in its path—is heading right for Cybertron. The only hope is the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. Will the Autobots be able to save themselves and their home world in time? Gorgeous version of ONLY Transformers movie

Gorgeous version of ONLY Transformers movie
Transformers: The Movie 1986 is the darker continuation of the battle between the autobots and decepticons. Initially a commercial failure at theaters, the film deepened the Transformers saga, introduced important characters, and went on to become a cult classic. No need to rehash the plot as most everyone who is reading has seen the film and if you havent't well you should buy immediately. As for the film itself it has been remastered and looked awesome. There are two discs offered here- the film in widescreen and full screen. Transformers The Movie was actually animated in full screen and played theatrically with a fake cropped top and bottom to create a widescreen effect. There is not much image loss on the widescreen version but it is noticeable in some scenes. The second disc here offers the full screen for those that prefer that version. The film has also been restored to its orginal script, with Spike uttering his famous expletive as Unicron tears up a Cybertronian moon. The bonus features are pretty decent. There are original trailers, a short on the restoration process, and nice documentary called 'till all are one which brings back voice actors and creators to discuss the film. The digital copy offered here is a bit of a mixed bag. You are required to visit a website using the included purchase to get a redemption code which takes you to a very confusing website where the film will actually start playing. Above the screen afterbclik ing arounc you will find 4 download options such as 1080p, 720, etc. You must select your choice and a hard copy will download to your computer. You would the have to import this copy to your itunes, uktraviolet, or vudu for it to work. It's not very user friendly. If you are looking at getting this just for the digital copy you may be better off buying directly from a service offered here on amazon or itunes depending on your format of choice. The physical copy is really great to have in my collection, replacing my very old 2000 dvd copy. This new version comes in a glossy slipcase and features reversable cover art. You can choose between the image of Optimus Prime and Hot Rod holding the matrix or flip it to art similar to that of Australia's Madman bluray release showing Hot Rod, Arcee, Kup, Springer, And Ultra Magnus standing in front of Unicron as he devours a planet.Overall I am very happy to have the restored and great looking version of this film in my collection. An easy recommendation and worth uograding your old dvd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Llena de nostalgia!
Reviewed in Mexico on December 11, 2020
