The Summer Games: Settling the Score Kindle Edition
• The athletes are all sex-crazed maniacs...
• The committee passes out condoms like candy...
• The games continue long after the medals have been handed out...
As Andie walks the line between rumor and reality, she's forced into the path of Frederick Archibald, a decorated Olympic swimmer and owner of a sexy British accent—too bad he's unavailable in a way that "it's complicated" doesn't even begin to explain.
In other words: off limits.
It doesn't matter that he has abs that could bring peace to the Middle East and a smile that makes even the Queen blush; Andie fully intends on keeping her focus on the soccer field. But the Village is small. Suffocating. Everywhere Andie goes, Freddie happens to be there—shirtless, wet from the pool, and determined to show her a whole new meaning of the phrase "international affairs".

The Summer Games: Settling the Score incorporated so much of the actual Olympics and what it's life for the athletes on and off the TV screen that it made my little athletic, Olympic loving heart so happy. The book followers not one athlete competing in the Olympics, but two. While Freddie this Olympics will be Freddie's third, Andie is an Olympic virgin. She's worked her whole life to get to this point in her life that she's ready to win the gold and start living her life.
Sure, the Olympics is why they are there, but at the Olympic Village is where action really happens. Her first night in Rio Andie goes to a party. At the party she meets Freddie. The talk of the Olympics and the star of fantasies. Oh Freddie. Right away he's intrigued by the girl in front of him. The thing she says and the things she does has hooked Freddie. Freddie who has somewhat lost his sense of fun. After tragedy struck his family, Freddie has had to accept more responsibilities than he ever wanted.
But with Andie, Freddie feels free of all that. As attracted as they are to each other, something that ties back to Freddie's responsibilities keeps them apart. So the pair form a friendship that always threatens to cross over into something more.
Andie. I want to be her best friend. She's funny, full of adventure, and strong-willed. She's a badass soccer goalie that will do anything to win the gold. She didn't expect to find anything more than fun at the Olympics, but when something happens to threaten that dream she stops at nothing to change that.
And then there is Freddie. OH, sweet, sexy, british Freddie. Freddie's a swimmer...have I mentioned that? Because you know, swimmer's body...just saying. He likes his privacy and wants to just swim, win the gold, and not talk about his private life, but reporters aren't just interested in what goes on in the pool with him. Freddie stole my heart almost right away. He's so sweet and adorable when it came to getting Andie's attention and getting her to hang out with him, but when they were together? OH BOY WAS HE A SEXY MAN! I also love how supportive he was of Andie's soccer career. That's what she's always needed. Someone in her life that just gets what her sport means to her. He was also so protective over her, wanting to make sure nothing from his life outside of the Olympics touched her.
I also have to mention the characters from Scoring Wilder and their appearances in this book. Becca and Kinsley were in this book a lot since they took Andie under their wings and there was also Liam, swoony as ever. Becca and Kinsley are still friendship goals, Kinsley is still hilarious. But it was also really cool to see them when they were older and how their lives had developed since the end of Scoring Wilder. Also, Freddie's sister, Georgie, is hands down one of my favorite characters ever. I LOVE HER!
I was hooked from page one in this book. I never wanted to put it down and I never wanted it to end. It had R.S. Grey's signature of funny. I honestly was 2% in and was already laughing so hard. She had so many quotable lines that had me highlighting it all on my kindle. But this book was also steamier. Sexier. Which I totally approve of. Put two athletes together and you get fire. But this book also had so many touching, feel inducing moments that made me experience so many different emotions. Every time one of the characters had highs or lows, I was riding it out with them. Needless to say this book is one of my favorite books of the year and is R.S. Grey's best work to date.
Now besides the selfishness of Freddie, I actually liked him quite a bit. He had some very unusual burdens to bear, and while I wanted him to grow a backbone earlier with his family, I understood why before he met Andie he had just shrugged it off as something to deal with later. I just wanted him to do the right thing earlier than he did. But he was charismatic, adorable, hard working, and you could feel how much he genuinely felt for Andie and how he cared for her. I kind of enjoyed that she knocked some of his confidence out of him, I loved seeing him struggle with insecurity and desperation. While the situation was quite a bit of his own doing, it didn’t mean I didn’t feel for him when things started spiraling out of control.
Andie was her own mix of adorableness and occasionally frustration for me. I had just previously read Scoring Wilder, and so I couldn’t help but compare Andie to Kinsley sometimes (especially as Kinsley and Becca were a prominent fixture in this book as well), and so I liked her, just not as much you know? It took me some time to really figure out who she was… I loved her dedication to the sport, even if I was a bit skeptical with how that all played out (and kind of disagreed with her decisions — even if that’s what elite athletes would have done). But I loved her confidence, her willingness to explore, and she was so genuine too. I felt for her and the obstacles that were thrust in her way, both just from being in the Olympic limelight, but also from her relationship with Freddie.
And the two of them together were adorable and frustrating as well! Frustrating because of the nature of their relationship and the controversy surrounding it — it made me uncomfortable. I always find it hard to fully invest in a couple when there’s other people involved, even if it’s “not what everyone thinks.” But despite that, they were super cute together, and I enjoyed watching them flirt and fumble their way together.
Being an Olympic junkie, I loved that aspect to the story — I thought Ms. Grey did a great job showing the craziness that is such a huge international event, and the dedication it takes to be an elite athlete at that level.
I also appreciated seeing Kinsley, Becca and Liam again. Not just to get an update on them, but also as they tried to support Andie. Kinsley and Becca were just as hilarious as always, but I loved that you could really feel how much they cared for Andie. I also ADORED Freddie’s sister Georgie! That girl was HILARIOUS. She helped us see a different side of Freddie, and I appreciated how she tried to help him with his clusterbeep of a love life.
So yeah. Still thoroughly enjoying this author, it was just the circumstances surrounding this story that made it harder for me to fully invest. I’m curious to see what the next Summer Games book will bring!

The epilogue was awesome.
Freddie and Andie were nice, but Caroline seemed really over the top.
Having inbibed "Scoring Wilder" yesterday, I loved living in Liam and Kinsley's world for another book. So great. And then I read the epilogues to discover there's a book about Freddie's sister, Georgie??? SO EXCITED!! HA HA HA!
Anyways, the book was really fun and just like "Scoring Wilder" the was no troubled past or angsty situations. There were still problems the two characters needed to face, but they had to do with different people. I really liked Andie and Freddie together, I also thought Georgie was a fun character. The only two people I didn’t really like were Kinsley and Becca. I loved them in "Scoring Wilder". Their friendship was without question great in both books BUT for most of the book Becca and Kinsley really pissed me off. They were so annoying and I couldn’t handle them. They were super super goofy and behaved like they were 12. I know, I am their age and I don’t always act age-appropriate either, but these two had something really annoying going on
If you really want a cheesy and fun new adult novel, then this book is for you. Plus point: the book is set during the Olympic Games in Rio. Wohoo!!
Bref ce livre mérite une belle médaille d'or !
Il primo Agosto ci riserva una sorpresa niente male davvero, un nuovo spinoff The Summer Games, Out of Bounds.
