Filthy English (British Bad Boys Book 2) Kindle Edition
A smokin' hot British player...
A jilted girl...
One night of mistaken identity...
Two weeks before her wedding, Remi Montague's fiancé drops her faster than a drunken sorority girl in stilettos. Armed with her best friend and a bottle of tequila, she hops a plane to London to drown her sorrows before fall semester begins at Whitman University.
She didn't plan on attending a masquerade party. She sure didn't plan on waking up next to the British bad boy who broke her heart three years ago--the devastatingly handsome and naked Dax Blay. Furthermore, she has no clue how they acquired matching tattoos.
Once back at Whitman together, they endeavor to pretend they never had their night of unbridled passion in London.
But that's damn hard to do when you live in the same house...
One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.
*A modern love story inspired by Romeo and Juliet*

This was a very good story. I liked both Remi and Dax and enjoyed seeing them get together. Fair warning, this is kind of a love-triangle story because there is an attempted reunion between Remi and her ex (no sex though) while her and Dax are still unsure where things stand between them.
Remi is a college student that loves birds and is studying ornithology. Remi lost her father when she was a teen and misses him badly. She has a mother and autistic brother that she loves, even if she doesn't always get along the best with her mother. Remi was engaged to a guy named Hartford but he broke up with her because he needed a "break" so Remi and her BFF decided to use the nonrefundable honeymoon as a vacation.
Dax is a college student that has no idea what he plans to do with his life when he gets out of college. Dax and his twin (Declan from book #1) were born to an English mother and an American father that got divorced soon after they were born and they grew up in England with their mother until she died of cancer. They then went to live with their father but Dax has always had a bit of a contentious relationship with him.
So, Remi and Dax had a brief fling during Remi's freshmen year. They met and liked each other so much they spent a long weekend shut away together in his room. Unfortunately, a skank that Dax slept with in the past decided to cause some issues that chased Remi away and Dax was so convinced he wouldn't be a good person to be involved with anyone, he just let her go. Remi was crushed by what happened but she did recover and started going our with Hartford a while later. Hartford seemed like a good, reliable guy which was just what Remi felt she needed at that point. They dated a couple years before they got engaged but Hartford had second thoughts 2 weeks before the wedding. While in England on what was supposed to be her honeymoon, Remi decides to party it up. When she and her BFF end up at a bar where everyone wears masks to hide their identity, Remi decides to pick up a one-night-stand as a way of getting past what Hartford did to her.
Remi and Dax somehow meet in the bar, masks on and everything. Things begin rough because of their past but when Dax ends up being the hero that saves Remi from a bad situation, things between them smooth out a bit. Remi and Dax become friends and seem to even be progressing further during her trip to England and I liked where things were going. Unfortunately, Hartford decides to show up to beg Remi to take him back and Remi is confused enough about everything to consider it. Everyone ends up back in America as classes start and Remi desperately needs a place to stay so she starts renting a room from Dax. This spikes up the tension between Remi and Dax and it takes some time but they do finally work through their issues...and Remi works through her confusion about Hartford vs. Dax. In the end, Dax and Remi are doing well and heading towards a HEA together.
This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Remi pretty well as a heroine. I sort of wished she'd have kicked Hartford to the curb immediately when he came back but considering everything, I can kind of see why she was willing to talk to him. I liked Dax very much except for his insistence about him not being worthy of a good woman/relationship. Outside of his fear of commitment, I thought Dax was a really good guy. I'm not much on love-triangles but I still liked the characters and thought the story was very good so I'd recommend it. :)
* note - I listened to the audio version of this story. There was a female narrator for the parts from Remi's PoV and a male for the parts from Dax's PoV. Both did good jobs.
'He was a drug; his body the antidote to all the sadness I'd suffered.'
This book, this story line, Dax, Remi, Ilsa's author mastermind of brilliant proportions--EVERYTHING about this book is just simply amazing! I was left completely floored and in awe at the sheer brilliance of it all. A top read of 2016, hands down!
'Fate. She's a tricky bitch and the mere change in a footstep, the choice to take a different path, creates a synchronism of moments that alight and fall gently into place, like a butterfly that unerringly finds its way home no matter the distance. Fate had found me and kicked me in the stomach--hell, she'd just tossed me to the wolves.'
I've read every book that Ilsa Madden-Mills has published to date and in my book nerd opinion, Filthy English takes the cake! Her best work to date, a book that I can't stop gushing about to everyone. YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK!!!!!! Books are my drug of choice and I am a big time pusher, no shame here. So, what are you waiting for? READ THIS BOOK!
'Life has just bitch-slapped me right across the face with the coincidence of a lifetime.'
A second chance romance based on Romeo & Juilet. Filthy English is the epitome--the full meal deal of the literary roller-coaster ride we all crave. All the feeeeeeeels!!! GAH! I adore this book! There's such a delicious slow burn to this story line, it's tantalizingly angsty, dripping with lust, sexual tension, heartbreak, and maybe a side dish of love *wink* Thankfully Ilsa doesn't pull a Shakespeare and kill them off. BUT she just about drove me off the deep end at times. The push and pull between Dax and Remi was enough to rattle anyone's nerves. Hilarious banter at just the right moments helped balance the story and pacing. This is a book you can't help but devour in one sitting. It's utterly enthralling and addictive.
'The thing is, Dax is a temporary guy and I'm a forever girl, and the two didn't go together. Ever.'
What briefly started 3 years ago, could be the love of a lifetime if they just give in and let it happen. A love for the ages. Two lost souls, tattered with baggage--starring each other in the eyes.
'This was fate, weaving her tapestry, making us part of her intricate plan.'
I just can't even. *insert book hangover here*

I loved Dirty English & I still do but Filthy Engilish has taken top stop for me.
What's a girl to do when her fiance jilts her before the wedding? Grab her closest BFF and head out on her honeymoon without a groom.
Remi will never forget the weekend she spent with the hot & sexy Brit, Dax Blay. Unfortunately Dax jumped from woman to woman like a mexican jumping bean & Remi was no exception. Now Dax has shown up of all places where Remi never expected to see him. On her Honeymoon that's not a honeymoon. One thing leads to another, that leads to another, that leads to matching tattoos with each others names and a fake wedding!?
What happens when they land back in the USA and end up sharing a home together. Surely they can forget their past together & just live happily together as roommates? Or maybe lines get blurred & crossed & there may be no going back.
Oh & the twist in this. And you're like "What", 'OMG", "Wowzers"!! Yeah you'll experience all that.
Really hoping we get Spiders story. I need me some more Hot & Sexy Brits ;)
It was supposed to be her honeymoon but instead Remi is in London with her best friend. Her fiancé broke their engagement two weeks before the wedding. While drowning her sorrows in tequila at a masquerade party in London she falls it the lap of Dax. A sexy mysterious tattooed man with an accent who wouldn’t give in to this temptation. They hid it off until Remi discovers who she’s kissing. That’s when their bickering starts, but when he comes to her rescue her heart begins to beat for him again. Things are going really great until her ex shows up…
Back in the States and Collage Remi needs a place to live. As fate decides she ends up living with Dax. Dax and Remi are both clearly attracted to each other but they have quite a history and carry a ton of baggage which they need to overcome first to finally have their HEA.
This book made it to my list of top reads in 2016. I highly recommend it.
So….. As soon as Remi Montague arrived at the Tau frat party three years ago, Dax Blay could not take his eyes off her! What was it about this girl that got to him, she wasn’t even his usual blonde, big boobed, bimbo type! Remi was miss prim and proper, with brains to go with it. Dax tries to steer clear, but eventually as the night draws on, they end up chatting and drinking together.
A game of seven minutes in heaven leads to seventy two hours of insanely hot sex, all over the frat house for them, until one of Dax’s random hook ups arrives. Catching them together, she explodes, claiming that Dax is her boyfriend. Remi doesn’t hang around for Dax to explain anything. She runs!
Three years later, after avoiding each other around campus, and after Remi keeping a huge secret to herself, they end up in the same nightclub, in the same country, London. What are the chances?
Dax has spent the summer in London babysitting his cousin, Spider, after his release from rehab. Remi is in London with her best friend Lulu, on what was supposed to be her honeymoon, after being dumped two weeks previous.
Under the anonymity of masks, the two are drawn to each other and upon each discovering who the other is that they have just kissed, both Dax and Remi are left confused, scared, conflicted but also extremely attracted. That chemistry from three years ago, that they both thought they had gotten over, well, nope not so much. It is well and truly still simmering. The question, what do they do about it? With fears of entering a relationship due to possibly losing someone else from their life, being in opposing frats and a (ex) fiance hanging around, is there just too much against them?
Written from the male and female perspective, Ilsa and her super creative and descriptive writing has bought us a book that teases and tempts us the whole way through. I could easily picture the characters and the story playing in my head. It has you completely captivated. I was held hostage in the world of Dax and Remi right until I finished the book. (Which obviously, you know, I don’t mind, because Dax is hot right! He’s British, built and tattoed! Enough said!)
Like I wrote above, Dax is British and sexy. He is also scared of being left by someone he loves again. He can have the pick of any girl, except the one he is really drawn to. He’s a protector of those he loves and even becomes hero at some point during the story. Remi is a planner. She likes order. She likes lists. She likes……birds. (This will make sense when you read the book) She has her life mapped out. Until Dax, he just throws all her future plans out of the window. She thought she was happy, about to be married to someone with great future prospects, but was she really just settling for someone she thought she should be with. Both characters show development throughout the story. Realising you can’t live life scared of being happy and just going with the flow. You have to put yourself out there to reap the rewards.
From the beginning I rooted for Dax and Remi to get together, I think my heart was in my throat all the way through to be honest. Even though he didn’t really do that much wrong, I instantly disliked Hartford, Remi’s (ex) fiance, as he was one of many things keeping them apart.
The storyline to Filthy English was entertaining, I loved the secondary characters, Spider and Lulu (I’m hoping they get a book) and the pace and length of the book was perfect. It wasn’t rushed and the book has plenty going on, which is why you just cant put it down, you just need to see what is going to happen next. I felt I was given enough of Dax and Remi to keep me satisfied, I didn’t feel short changed with their story. It felt complete when I came to the end. This doesn’t mean I wasn’t left with a Dax and Remi shaped hole, reluctant to start my next read and move on from them though!
As quoted by Ilsa Madden – Mills herself, a modern twist on Romeo and Juliet’s story. It’s a second chance romance. It’s sweet but also sexy. It’s forbidden yet it’s what we crave. It’s nail biting worthy but also enchanting. I loved it. Possibly more than Dirty English which I didn’t think was possible.
