This Thing is the Worst with a Capital W
This thing is horrible. Just horrible. I have the 120V Super Pump by Airhead and it is great. But running on 120 and pushing over 900W, it should be. But with no 120 on my boat, I've been on the hunt for a equally fast 12V pump. This is supposed to be the big dog of the 12Vs by airhead. Well it stinks. I'm talking "giant dino dung in Jurassic Park" stinks. I haven't been this disappointed in a product in a very long time. I had it out today blowing up an island inflatable and it took forever. A few times I swore I didn't have the hose on correctly or something. After 30 minutes, I ended up grabbing my old O'Brien pump I got from my local boat dealer. ( http://www.amazon.com/OBrien-12V-Inflator-Deflator-Pump/dp/B00JA4W1WM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1463021253&sr=8-2&keywords=obrien+air+pump ). It was super sonic compared to this guy. I just don't get it. This connects directly to the battery. It should blow the O'Brien or cig lighter connected pump out of the freaking water. DO NOT BUY THIS. This is also listed as a high pressure pump. Well you can forget that too. After using the O'Brien to get the island mostly inflated, I switched back to the Airhead thinking I could get a little more firmness. Nope. I think it was actually losing pressure. Honestly I really attribute this to the tiny holes on each end of the hose. I'm assuming these are meant to keep the unit from overheating. But they really are letting a lot of air out. The Super Pump version has them too. But with its massive power, I guess it just overwhelms them. No other pumps I've ever experienced have these. Just get rid of them! This will be returned tomorrow. This now has me questioning the Super Pump. The Super Pump is great, but using 120 there might be better pumps out there. I'm still on the quest for the best 12V air pump. At this point, I'm considering adding an inverter so I can run the Super Pump or another 120 on the boat. But until then, the search continues. Also, I am baffled by all the 5 star reviews this pump has. There are only two explanations I can offer. One, the design of the pump may have changed. If this is the case, sounds like they need to go back to the old design. Two, everyone that thinks this pump is great has never used anything else.UPDATE 5/17/16 : I just couldn't shake how crappy this pump was. Maybe its because I have the 120V Super Pump and it kicks but. I just couldn't wrap my head around the same company making such two equal awesome and equally crappy products. So, thinking I may have had a defective unit, I went to my local Bass Pro Shop and purchased this pump again. Well, my suspicions were confirmed. This pump is legit. I've been using a very large inflatable island to test all of the different pumps I've been going through. The Bravo High Pressure 12 pumped the main chamber to a stiff capacity in about 20-21 minutes. The Airhead Super Pump 120V did it in about 4-5 minutes. This little guy did it in about 8. Remind you, these times are to a firm full. This pump had the island 95% full in about 6 minutes. Only a few minutes short of the Super Pump. Considering this pump runs on 12V and not 120, that is pretty darn good. Its also well worth the few minutes to not have to find/add 120 to the boat. All and all this is an amazing pump. Well worth the money. We will see how long it lasts. But for now its a 5 star item.

The pump was bought as a gift and only just opened and there was a split in the hose after trying to straighten it out. Just wish that i had checked it when the item was received as I'm not sure how to get in contact with the seller to try and organize a new hose. Other than that pump seems really strong and i believe that had the hose not been split this would have been a 5*.
