Emphatic (Soul Serenade Book 1) Kindle Edition
I wasted my college years on a guy who played with my head, played with my heart. I was blinded by the fairytale, the one that didn’t exist.
The day I gave up on the idea of happily ever after, my focus became me. Moving forward and establishing my career.
Until one day…
I didn’t expect him. My new boss, a six foot two, inked rock god. I believed I was working for the record label, I was wrong.
It’s impossible for me to keep my distance, believe me I’ve tried. He’s not who I expected him to be. He’s so much more he’s…Emphatic

This book was predictable, even seemed forced. Logan gets a new job and what do you know she instantly is BFF's with everyone, there is no tension, no drama its all just a bit wishy washy. There is however lots of repeat conversations, one chapter you hear her thoughts and the next she is talking it out with her best friend.
It does read well but it lacks a lot. It didnt tug at my emotions, i was pretty neutral when it came to whether or not i cared about the characters. I finished it and stayed with them to the end but i seriously did not really enjoy it that much.
Its a quick read, very predictable, not emotional and will pass the time, sadly i do not think it is her greatest work. If there are more in this series i doubt i will bother with them if this one is anything to go by.
However as the story progressed, Logan started to annoy me with her uncertainty and i felt a disconnect from her character which made the story start to drag.
I am also finding that I like more spice and sexual chemistry in my romance books and those scenes were few and far between and felt like they were over before they even started. This purely my personnel opinion, but for me it made me start to feel like I just wanted the story to finish.
So for me it is a 3.5 star review. I enjoyed the first half and found the second half meh.

The hero, Kacen is hot but he doesn't have the usual personalities that heroes in romance fiction tend to be. He isn't domineering, he isn't cold, he isn't distant, he isn't intimidating, he isn't a flirt. He isn't too romantic with cheesy lines falling off his mouth either. He is sweet and understanding.
The heroine, Logan just broke up with her boyfriend. She wasn't really in "love" with. Good thing she left that lousy cheater. Logan's overall personality, I felt didn't stand out as much as Kacen's. She is a girl who knows what she wants, hangs out with her friend and is a bit hesitant but other than that her personality doesn't shine as much as Kacen's.
The narration had a good flow. The language is simple but is really good to read. The dialogues aren't cheesy, they consist of friendly banter, teasing and sexy moments.

La protagoniste était censé devenir un personnage féminin fort après sa rupture mais elle est restée faible et ses répliques paraissaient parfois stupides.
There were too many repetitions and soon, the story became boring. The female character remained a weak one, and her lines sometimes sounded
dumb. Too bad! The plot seemed appealing.
