I hate to do it but I’m now following the instructions that came with the grass. He is confined to his playpen until I see him start to “go”, then I grab him & put him on the grass. When he’s done, I put him back in his playpen (some people use a dog crate). Continue doing this for a few days until he gets the message.
It sounds cruel and I have avoided it for several weeks. I just can’t take it anymore. I used a black light flashlight (also available on Amazon) to look for urine stains and was appalled. I finally ordered a stream cleaner, which is advertised as better than a carpet scrubber. It will do a multitude of other tasks so I believe it is a good investment.
There’s nothing worse than having friends come to visit and having the house smell of urine. I had that experience with a friend years ago and had to leave the house it was so bad. She couldn’t smell it at all. Beware that you may become nose blind and get that dog potty trained!
I am unable to use a dog door, which I used with my last dog. It is far superior than any other product. It certainly isn’t possible if you live in a high-rise. The grass is a great success for some. It seems the more I spray the “Go Here” the more he avoids it.
Edit: She no longer uses the pad but also doesn't have accidents...So I'm not sure if she's just finicky or what. Will try spraying on rocks and inside like others have mentioned
