"A lovely and moving book. The Forgotten Girl is a splendid example of finding beauty amongst the ashes. Stefania, broken yet brave, reminds us of the strength and fortitude of those upon whose backs our country was built. Readers will be pulled in right to the heart of her story. " -Julie Daines, award-winning author of Historical Fiction."Rich with emotion, The Forgotten Girl is a beautiful story of a resilient and unforgettable girl. Through her difficult and at times heartbreaking journey, we are reminded of the power of words, the strength of friendship, and the importance of hope." -Ashtyn Newbold, author of Lies and Letters and Mischief and Manors."Heather Chapman weaves a fascinating story of a young woman's journey from the harsh life of an orphan in Poland to the tenuous life of an immigrant in Baltimore. The Forgotten Girl is a map in perseverance and courage. A stunning tale of multiple cultures struggling to make sense of what freedom means, wrapped in the determination to find purpose in their dreams."
- Carolyn Steele, author of Soda Springs
"Stella leaves Poland, searching for belonging, and on the way, discovers heartache, betrayal, friendship and most of all her own strength. A beautifully told story of a young girl's journey to America, rich with history and engaging characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it."
-Jennifer Moore, author of Miss Whitaker Opens her Heart

About the author

Being the youngest of four sisters (and one very tolerant older brother), Heather grew up on a steady diet of chocolate, Jane Austen, Anne of Green Gables, Audrey Hepburn, and the other staples of female moviedom and literature. These stories, along with good teachers, encouraged Heather throughout high school and college to read many of the classics in literature, and later, to begin writing her own stories of romance and adventure. In her spare time, Heather enjoys time spent with family, volleyball, piano, the outdoors, and almost anything creative.
