So firstly, the purpose of purple shampoo is to tone out yellow in very light highlights or bleached hair. This is not going to work if your hair is not extremely light, and it probably won't work on natural hair either. I like to put it on my head generously, and rub it into the hair without making it sudsy, then leave it on for the entirety of my shower. At the end, I rub it around and treat it like a normal shampoo, then rinse it out.
How often you need to do this depends on what you want from your hair and what the issue is. For example, I leave mine on long and use it every single shampoo, because I have my hair dyed silver, and I want it to stay a very gray/silver color. If your hair is very light, and you go past the white stage, it's going to turn purplish gray or gray. Don't freak out. Just lay off the purple shampoo for a while and use normal shampoo instead, then if you notice some yellow starting to creep back into your hair, start using some purple shampoo until it tones itself out.
Lastly, this shampoo smells better than any shampoo I've ever used in my life. And I'm in no way exaggerating. I wish I could capture this scent and spray it all over my whole body.
