Great tool, very powerful and well designed.I worked as a plumber in 2007 and at that.point, these were almost toys and not very durable. Design has really improved since!!!At first I thought it wasn't up to the job I had in mind, but, I just didn't know how to use it. The cutter tongue has to stay flat against the object while you cut.I used it to cut down some very pesky bushes. Also used it on rebar yesterday with no problem. However, be aware, this tool is a BEAR on the little 18v batteries. I mean, it takes a lot of energy to run that blade through wood/metal. In retrospect, I would have been better with a corded sawzall. For reference, to cut down the bush in the picture probably take 3-4 battery charges of the standard battery. Tool runs about 5-8 minutes off one charge. If you have a quick cutting job it's invaluable... If you have a big job you'll be waiting while the batteries charge....I don't subtract any stars for this because, it's just how it works.... Requires a lot of energy to do what it does.... Therefore the batteries drain fast..... If you need to cut something quick it's great!!!!

I needed a cutter for tree branches and possibly some metal parts. I have corded sawzall, which works well, but rather dangerous on ladder and limited by need to use ac cord. To cut high branches and trees away from ac source, I got this cordless saw.
From beginning, it worked well. Prune tree branches on ladder in seconds, ones that would have taken minutes with hand saw or pole saw, and the branches cut cleanly, which is better for tree. I have used it several more times, on different trees, since then, all with success and ease. And, the battery with with my One+ charger, so charging was easy, snapping on charger and taking it out several hours later.
I considered getting angle grinder, but I see I made the right choice in getting this cordless reciprocating saw. By changing the blade, I can cut metal rods as well. I can use the blades from my corded reciprocating saw on this one, so I have plenty of blades. The saw is also relatively compact, so it can hang from garage wall.
This is a great pruner and cutter.

I already had the batteries, so this was worth the price paid. The blades that come with it are short (And kind of cheap) but there are replacement blades that will fill any purpose I can come up with. Lasts a long time and does a lot of work on a single charge. Definitely a Home repair unit, NOT an industrial one.

I really like the Ryobi 1+ system...tools are so much cheaperwithout the batteries. I have two Ryobi batteries and switch between them so I always have battery power. I liked this tool with two exceptions. First, the trigger was hard to hold for an extended time...I haven’t seen any other complaints about this so maybeits just me, but I got a blister at the web of my thumb and finger from holding the trigger. Second, i find the safety switch to be in an awkward place—it’s hard ro reach with the hand that is on the trigger. In my opinion, putting it on the part gripped with your other hand would be easier to reach and would insure that the user had the correct grip on the tool (this is not a one-handed tool). Overall, a very good tool and worth the money.

I have a Ryobi system with a couple batteries already and my last SawZaw lasted pretty long until the blade lock stuck so much that i couldn't change blades any longer. So i bought this one to replace it. My older saw was the cheaper blue series. This one has a similar blade changing leaver but is a bit beefier. I've sawed up furniture cabinetry, nails, walls... nearly everything that isn't rock and, as inexpensive as Ryobi SawZaws are, they work well for a long time compared to spending double or triple on a Milwaukee

Great product, great deal! I received the saw promptly in a Ryobi factory box. It arrives with instructions and no batteries as advertised. Not a problem for me because I already own other Ryobi tools and have extra LiOn battery packs (the added cost of LiOn batteries vs NiCad is well worth it).

Being reconditioned I was expecting a scratch or minor imperfection. I found none. This saw looked brand new in all ways. I bought it from Amazon because I knew if there was a problem I could easily return it.

This thing is plenty powerful for heavy home use. Don't know how it would hold up to heavy duty daily construction demolition duty but I think it would hold it's own. I have found nothing this saw has not been able to handle. I purchased 9 inch and 12 inch pruning blades separately from Amazon
Bosch RP125 12-Inch 5 TPI Wood Cutting reciprocating Saw Blades - 5 Pack as I have many trees on my property and this makes short work of pruning limbs that are too large for large pruners and too small to bother with a chain saw (1-4 inches).

I can't think of anything this saw couldn't handle with the right blades for the job. I am very pleased with this purchase.
