I read several one-star reviews from customers who described this bowl as flimsy and too thin, then presumably promptly returned it without giving it any kind of a chance. That in fact is why I'm writing this review, to set the record straight.
Trust German technology to come up with a bowl constructed of very thin but extremely high-quality plastic that holds its shape no matter what you do to it. I purchased mine in June 2016 and use it virtually daily as a facial cleansing and shaving bowl. It looks exactly the same as three years ago. It's fantastic. Yes, it's not "sturdy" if by sturdy you mean that it shouldn't flex at all, like a thick porcelain bowl. That's not what this is.
This is a thin, light, semi-flexible bowl that holds its shape extremely, extremely well. One Amazon customer tells how the bowl deformed because it had pressed up against something else while in the dishwasher, but after s/he took it out, it simply returned to its original shape. It's very high quality. It just bounces back no matter what you do to it.
The material is similar to that of a very high-quality plastic eyeglass frame that bends but doesn't break. Several years ago, when I was about 15, a German optician in Accra, Ghana grabbed a frame like that and literally bent it in two until the two halves were touching, then released it. It just bounced back into shape right before my unbelieving eyes. Trust me, not all plastic is the same. Don't judge a book by its cover.
The reason I am here reading reviews three years after buying mine is that I am so impressed with it that I intend to get another one. I am shocked to see one-star and two-star reviews. These people, I believe, simply judged it on first impressions, concluded that anything this thin and light must be flimsy, then packed it back up to return to Amazon. Take those reviews with a major pinch of salt. They are misleading. This is a terrific product.
And no, I'm not German or euro or anything like that. I'm African.

Arrived with a brown sticky substance inside one bowl which I could not wipe off or remove with dish soap, and a long dark hair stuck to the outside, ewww! I used Clorox Clean Up on it and it did finally wash off. As for the bowls: they’re very large, flexible and lightweight. They will serve their purpose. But seriously got grossed out by this delivery.
