A Great Way to Enjoy Popcorn
The Micro-Pop microwave popcorn popper puts you back in control by offering a healthy way to make popcorn. Bagged popcorn is filled with harmful chemicals that can negatively affect you and your family. The Micro-Pop features a temperature safe borosilicate glass bowl that is safe to use. Just place your kernels in the bowl and microwave for a couple minutes for fresh, delicious popcorn.
Save Time, Money and the Landfill
Gone are the days of buying bagged popcorn with artificial flavors and colors. Save time by making less trips to the grocery store and save money by buying popcorn kernels in the jar vs. the pre-packaged popcorn. Using the Micro-Pop also helps our landfills by eliminating the wax-coated disposable bags from pre-bagged popcorn that can take a long time to decompose.
Easy to Clean
The Micro-Pop popcorn maker, lid and borosilicate glass bowl are dishwasher safe for fast and easy clean-up.
How to Make a Delicious Bowl of Popcorn Using the Micro-Pop Popcorn Popper
|

|
|
---|---|---|---|
The lid serves as a convenient measuring tool for your kernels. For the 1.5 quart Micro-Pop, use one lid full of kernels for a bowl of popcorn. For the 3 quart Micro-Pops, use 2 lids full of kernels. You can also add less kernels to the bowl if you wish to enjoy a smaller amount of popcorn. |
Drop the measured kernels into the bottom of the popper and place the lid on top to go in the microwave. |
This step is entirely optional, but the perforated lid can be used to melt butter or margarine over your popcorn while it pops. The lid allows to butter to melt through the holes and distribute evenly over the kernels. |
Please note that microwaves vary greatly. Make sure you are listening to the pops while your microwave is making the popcorn and stop the microwave once the pops get to be 2 seconds apart. Some microwaves may require more time, while others require less time. |
A fast and easy way to make microwave popcorn.
Tips to getting your popcorn just right:
- Not all microwaves work exactly the same, so play with the timing until you get it just right. Experiment a little- your microwave may cook the popcorn faster or slower than the 2:30-3:00 average! If your precious popcorn is getting burnt when adding butter prior to popping, try adding the butter after all those kernels have transformed into beautiful puffed popcorn.
- Always use fresh popcorn kernels. Store your popcorn in an airtight container. Refrigeration is not recommended.
- Stopping and starting your microwave during the cooking cycle is not recommended. Once you stop the microwave, the steam buildup in the center of the kernel, which causes the popcorn to pop, will cool off and never reach the desired temperature to re-pop. If you restart the microwave you also risk burning the already popped popcorn. Using the sound test is the best way to determine if your popcorn is done. If there are more than two full seconds between pops, it’s time to stop.

Hot butter leaking out of a plastic sieve seems like a good way to take a healthy snack and add some unhealthy plastic forever chemical. If, you don't use it to melt butter, than it should be safe.
What I love is the glass container that is perfect for making popcorn without the chemicals that come in popcorn bags or plastic poppers. The plastic handle is completely cool to the touch and the side has plastic around to prevent accidental contact with the hot glass. It also comes with several recipes including one that's like a cinnamon toast, but for popcorn.
Got this today and already made 2 batches to snack on.
I recommend getting a popcorn salt. It's extra fine so you don't use as much.
1. Do not add butter to the top of the cover as it will end up burning anyway before all the kernels are finished popping and taste bad. Add it after.
2. Add fewer kernels than you think maybe half the top measure otherwise you will get burnt kernels before the last ones are popped. If you need more just do two sessions.
3. Use the high power on the microwave for 3 minutes. Place the popper in the dead center of the microwave tray, not rotating around the edge. That's very important. You will then get the kernels popping the fastest and get a good batch. As soon as you hear the first 3 second lag of popping hit the stop button if there's too much time left. Be prepared to expect that some kernels may not be popped. Discard them as they are not reusable but hopefully you get better at guaging the pop level. Popping too long will result in yucky burned popcorn making good popcorn smell and taste bad so better to sacrifice some unpopped kernels for better popcorn.
4. Although I've given you advice it may take a few sessions to get good at it so don't give up. I like the fact that the popcorn is being popped in a glass popper, not fried in a pot, not popped in a bag with who knows what chemicals are in it.
5. Enjoy.
However, I am having a hard time figuring out the right microwaving times. The sheet it came with offers very vague info saying that all microwaves are different. The first time, I just put in plain popcorn using the convenient measuring cap that sits on top. When I buy pre-made microwave popcorn, the time for double the amount of popcorn is 2:15 minutes for perfectly popped bag. I set the timer for 3:30 minutes, thinking I'd probably only need about 2-2:15 minutes max since the amount was smaller. When it reached 3:30 minutes, there was still a lot of unpopped corn. The corn I used was brand new and completely fresh.
The second time, I put about a teaspoon of cold butter on the little top, where it has holes that let the butter melt onto the popcorn as it's being popped, and used the measuring top first to put in the exact same amount of popcorn as I used the first time. After less than 2 minutes of popping, the microwave just stopped in mid-cycle with half or more of the kernels unpopped. I started up the microwave again, but it just stopped again. I figured the remaining unpopped kernels were now coated with butter, so it wouldn't go for some reason (nothing wrong with the microwave). Maybe the glass container got too hot so it wouldn't continue?
Anyway, it's really frustrating not being able to figure out or have any guidance from the manufacturer on what should be a fairly simple process. Advice, anyone?

I’ve done the stovetop method (excellent, but laborious), the bagged ones (not particularly healthy and environmentally questionable), and the air popper (healthy but meh).
This will not pop all your kernels. It will, however, give you an easy, tasty bowl of popcorn. Was hesitant to use the butter reservoir, but was life-changing (Ok, not life-changing, but you get the idea). Flavour was great, no greasy hands, and surprisingly easy clean up.
Get the large one.
