Starfinder Adventure Path: Incident at Absalom Station (Dead Suns 1 of 6) Paperback – September 5, 2017

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 150 ratings

A Ship Without a Crew
When a brutal gang war breaks out on a docking bay in Absalom Station, the player characters are recruited by the Starfinder Society to investigate the unexpected bloodshed. Delving into the station's seedy Spike neighborhoods, the heroes confront the gangs and discover that both were paid to start the riot and that the true conflict is between two rival mining companies battling over a new arrival in orbit around the station: a mysteriously deserted ship and the strange asteroid it recovered from the Drift. To head off further violence, the heroes are asked to investigate the ship and discover what happened to its crew, as well as the nature of the asteroid it tows. But what the players find there will set in motion events that could threaten the entirety of the Pact Worlds and change the face of the galaxy forever...
This volume of Starfinder Adventure Path launches the Dead Suns Adventure Path and includes:
• "Incident at Absalom Station," a Starfinder adventure for 1st-level characters, by Robert G. McCreary.
• A gazetteer of Absalom Station, by James L. Sutter.
• Magical relics inspired by the lost planet Golarion, by Owen K.C. Stephens.
• An archive of new alien creatures, by Jason Keeley and Robert G. McCreary.

I highly recommend this adventure path! My group is new to the Starfinder game, but we have been playing tabletop rpgs for years. We decided to give Starfinder a try and wanted a "pure" experience for our first foray into this exciting universe.

This adventure path provides a good mix of roleplay, combat (ground and space), and space-faring. It introduces you to general tabletop rpg rules and the unique Starfinder mechanics that are not found in Pathfinder or DnD.

Most importantly (at least to my group) is that the adventure path fleshes out the Starfinder universe and gives life to the various factions, races, and worlds discussed in the rulebook. (While the core rulebook gives some background on the various races and factions, I didn't feel there was enough information to create my own adventure that would stay true to the game designers' intent.) The adventure path also allows the GM/DM to easily run a game session and learn the rules of the game without getting too bogged down or confused by a new system.

While some people have complained about the quality of the story in this adventure, I believe it successfully gets everyone comfortable with the rules and setting. Also, the story definitely picks up in the 2nd and 3rd books!

If you are interested in delving into Starfinder this adventure path provides a great introduction and allows your group to quickly get into the action.

Great product. I purchased this so we could learn the system without having to worry about writing a campaign. It's a quick and easy read, and does a fantastic job of laying out the setting. Each step of the way it gives you the different options the players can take as well as what information they get from their rolls, and has the stats for all of the applicable NPC's easily accessible. As with any campaign setting, you're going to have to improvise as the GM, but it covers a lot of bases for different paths the players are likely to take

After running the first 2/3 sections of this book, I purchased parts 2-6 and will continue to run the story to its completion. The players have had a blast with the scenarios so far

Excellent quality. The binding is solid and the art is beautiful. This is the first in a series and already sets the stage for an exciting storyline I look forward to playing through the campaign. Prompt shipping as always.

I have played table top RPGs for years with a lot of various people and many engines and settings. I have played a bit of Pathfinder including the Rise of the Runelords. I am GMing the Dead Suns Adventure path with a small group as an introduction to the setting. I agree that this series of books is shorter than many of the previous adventure paths I do not believe that to be a bad thing. When Pathfinder first launched anyone could basically take anything D&D 3.5 and run a pathfinder campaign. RPGers where already introduced to the setting and most of the core engine. That is not true with Starfinder. there are enough changes in rules and setting for an introductory campaign to be necessary and the Dead Suns fits that need. It's immersive enough to get a great look at the new universe without taking 4 years to complete.

This Adventure-Path (episode 1) is an enjoyable introductory adventure for Starfinder and only asks for a GM familiar with the genre and setting-rules.

Although a bit light at the scenario level, this first opus is a good introduction for beginners.
The book is pleasant to read and well illustrated.
It describes a place (Absalom Station) where the adventurers will certainly return often.

I have already bought the two next opus for my players

Gives a good outline of the adventure path and what to expect with later editions.
I will be using this book just to kick start my universe, they get a unique ship with stats.
All the work to start off a universe is all here, you can branch off into your own thing or continue.
