Dia de los awesome!
I have a copy of Share the Love, the first coloring book published by Papeterie Blue, and I really enjoyed it. I had seen this Day of the Dead coloring book featured on Instagram and had to see it for myself, and it did not disappoint. The cover was incredible; very unique and true to the Mexican origins of this holiday and culture. The interior coloring pages turned out to be just as unique. I really loved how they gave a little history of Dia de Los Muertos and explained the meaning of the holiday. It is clear that this team is putting a lot of thought into their creations. This is not your standard shutterstock sugar skull book that you see all over Amazon; these are one of a kind illustrations. There is a good range of simple to complex designs, and I was pleasantly surprised by the number of female sugar skulls and day of the dead illustrations. The designs are printed one-sided, so you don’t have to worry when using colored pencils. I prefer markers and gel pens, and I would suggest some scratch paper between pages. My only advice to Papeterie Bleu would be to look into a spiral binding so the pages will lay completely flat, and if possible, add thicker paper, although obviously both of these changes will significantly increase the price of the book. At this price, this book beats every other sugar skull book I have seen. If this is the quality we can expect from Papeterie Bleu, then they have found a loyal fan, and I have already purchased copies of their newest releases Sugar Skulls at Midnight Volumes 1 & 2.

This book is so much fun! The designs look oveewhelming at first, but once you get into them and they begin to take shape, you begin to learn how to have some fun with them. I’m considering picking up more books from this line because the designs are clean and defined, but not overly simplified and child like. This has allowed me to explore some artistic creativity I didn’t know I had!

I've seen some reviews address the paper quality. Judging by the pictures people have posted, the makers must habe addresses this issue. I've had no bleed through, and the back of the pages are also printed in a black pattern. The designs in my book are different than many of the pictures in these reviews, they're really well done. I've only started 1 picture so far, but I love this so much that I bought another for a friend! I submitted pictures of a few different pages, as well as the back of the pages.
