About the only thing to watch out for when using it or carrying it with you ARE the magnets -They are very strong for the size and shape and you don't want to just casually grab and pull if you're resting on a loose object. I set it down with my camera mounted on top of a mid-tower sized PC weighing about 18 lbs and discovered it had no problem moving the whole cabinet before it released. I'm guessing the 11.5oz rating has more to do with what the flexible leg joints will support before the camera starts to shift a bit in some orientations rather than what you can hang via the magnets. Just keep it away from things sensitive to magnetic fields or get the original non-magnetic version which is also available in a beefed up SLR version.
The only other negative is the price which is a little high IMO, given what you can find the original, non-magentic version selling for that now has competition in the market. Still, it's just a great, flexible (no pun intended) accessory item that deserves a spot in your camera accessory bag. I give it a 5 star rating 'cause it does what it's supposed to, does it very well and will probably outlast the cameras I use it for.
I really wanted to like this product. In fact, I wanted to LOVE it. I still do.
However, I have owned and replaced several of these, and all of them have failed in the same manner: the joints of the legs quickly wear out in two ways: they simply wear down so there is no friction in the individual joints, and they develop micro (or macro) cracks which also make them floppy. And the 'tripod' simply doesn't work when the many-jointed legs are floppy and constantly falling out.
The JOBY GorillaPod is one of those very good ideas that simply fail to deliver, at least not in these smaller sizes. Maybe the larger ones have more durability, but I remain sadly disappointed in the several of these which I have purchased. I bought it to hold my various smart phones for photography - usually of the Samsung S7 variety, which it would do when new.

Puntos a favor:
Fazit

I had the old one for 4 years and I used everywhere even in the snow and at the beach buried in the sand and water. I only had to buy another one because I used the tripod too much and the joints were getting loose and the rubber of the feet were coming out. I am not surprised this happened as I use this a lot is very harsh conditions.
This is one of the best products for cameras. I take it everywhere in my bag as it is light and small. The magnetic feet allow me to attach the camera almost everywhere. The only downside about this is that if your camera has a large lenses or is not 100% compact it may be difficult for the GorillaPod to keep the camera stable. I just bought a new camera and this happened to me but is not something that worried me.
For bigger cameras I would recommend the GorillaPod Hybrid which is slightly bigger but is not as easy to transport as the magnetic.
I have both so I can choose what tripod I require for each occasion. But if I was only to get one tripod I would definitely choose only the magnetic as it can be used for everything.
