I bought this book and the companion workbook for Lent 2014. I was blown away. I had never and haven't since read anything that compares to Holey, Wholly, Holy. For the first time, Lent was made relevant and real for me. Tangible. I highly suggest getting the workbook as well. It really made a big difference. The book is great, but the book and workbook combination is amazing. As the book leads you through Ms. Camealy's journey, the workbook helps guide you through your own Lenten journey of self-discovery. From brokenness (holey) to submission and renewed commitment to Christ (wholly), to the glory of Christ's gift to us in death, resurrection and the forgiveness of our sins (holy). I am using this again for Lent this year and I plan to use it again for every Lent to come. I have also recommended this to many people and am even considering leading a small group study at my church next Lent. This book is a blessing. Kris Camealy is a blessing. Buy this book and the companion workbook and you will be blessed.

Disclaimer: I purchased this book and workbook via Kindle with my own money right before Lent in 2014. Ms. Camealy gave free copies right as Lent started in 2015 and I downloaded those pdf copies just to have them in a different format and bevause I had thought about printing the journal pages for my own personal journaling use this year (last year I just kept a journal and copied down the questions/prompts from my Kindle). I was asked to leave a positive review only if I thought the book deserved it, which I do. I do not know Kris Camealy (nor anyone who does know her) nor am I affiliated with her ministry, any affiliate of her ministry, the publisher or any affiliate of the publisher. I started reading Holey, Wholly, Holy with the prayer that I would be open to change and the refining that God might want to do in me. The beauty of the words in this book and the truth they contain impacted me in ways I couldn't have imagined. As I walked my own Lenten journey, I realized that God was answering my prayer. I was faced with trial after trial- the unexpected sort- and with each step, Kris's words drew me back to the Word of God.
Through this process, I discovered anew that our brokenness leads us to a place where God will receive the glory in what He is able to accomplish in us. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is seeking to change and to allow God to work out the refining process that only He can do. And while it was wonderful to use this book as a preparation for Easter, this is a book that can be read any time- and one that I will read again. I hope that Kris Camealy will continue to share her gift of writing, because I know that many will continue to be blessed by her words.

There is no question that Kris communicates from her heart and that she is a gifted writer, but does the book *breathe*?

That was my initial thought on cracking its cover.

I was floored to find words that not only pierce the soul, but also heal it. Kris writes in living color, each sentence bursting with meaning and image, while avoiding the dry, crusty theology that can smother even the finest flame. She offers her own spiritual journey at our disposal, as we, the readers, are encouraged to plumb the depths of one of the oldest practices in church history: Lent.

The meditations she provides pair well with her Scriptural references and other quotes throughout the book. Even the artwork seems to be more of a whispered prayer than a belligerent shout, causing readers to tip-toe, as it were, up to Holy Week -- encountering Christ in every page.

My only critique is that this book should be sold with candles. It lends itself so well to the quiet, living flicker of a dancing flame that you can feel heaven's exhale. As your own heart burns within.

While Kris Camealy wrote Holey, Wholly, Holy specifically for Lent, I actually read it after Lent and found it to be extremely beneficial in inviting me to focus on the holy work(s) of Christ ~ something we so easily lose sight of in the fray of life. Kris also wrote this gem as a devotional, but I couldn't put it down, and found myself reading through the entire book over the course of a couple of days. I then went back and read it the way it was intended, reading, praying and letting the message sink deep into my spirit. I highly recommend this book {for any season} for those who are willing to allow the Holy Spirit to draw you into self-examination and ponder the marvelous grace of Christ.
