Granted the game might become tedious for some but I have yet to reach that point for the game offers up a variety of things to do so the game won't get overly repetitive. The game offers story mode and within story mode comes more than a handful of missions for players to complete. Other than that, there's expedition mode which I have yet to venture into.
A unique aspect of the game are the characters you can play as. Each character has their strengths and weaknesses - therefore each of them are different in combat. I honestly can't pick one favorite character because they're all so fun to play as.
As far as I can tell, the max number each character can be leveled up to is 7. It seems like a small number but it takes a while to get to that point. Currently, I only have two level 7's: Levi and Eren. Also, each character has about 6-7 skill sets that unlock the more you play as a certain character.
Another great thing about this game is that you don't need to be a fan of the series to enjoy the game. In fact, if your interested in AOT (and just haven't gotten a chance to read the manga or view the anime) or just want to introduce the series to a friend, I would highly recommend this game. Even non anime fans will find the game highly enjoyable.
This is definitely my favorite PS4 game so far. If i could rate the game higher, I would give it about 100 stars!
UPDATE 09/03/16 - The game does indeed go past the point where the anime ended. Once you reach the point where the anime ended, you'll see the end credits which make you believe story mode is over. I felt a huge amount of sadness while watching the credits and an immense amount of relief when I realized there's more to story mode.
A really neat feature (in my eyes) is that once you've reached this segment (past the anime) you can choose any character out of the ones playable to complete the rest of story mode.
Once you get past the point of the anime, Eren's R2 move will turn him into a Titan. The only downside (which is a pretty big downside) is that you can only remain as Titan Eren til your speciality gauge dies down - it takes like 2ish minutes for that to occur. It would have been fun to just have Titan Eren be able to come out whenever with no time limit.
An interesting thing to note is that completing the last bit of story mode is no walk in the park. Despite playing on easy mode, the game makes reaching the end a challenge which can be frustrating for some but for me it's the complete opposite. Also, in order to proceed further in the arc, you now must complete certain missions. This allows you plenty of time to upgrade your blades and the rest of your gear before heading further into story mode.
In addition to completing missions, the game introduces requests. While in camp, numerous people will have requests that you have the option of completing. For example, one request will be: slice off 20 Titan body parts. Once you've completed a special characters request, it will trigger a scene of sorts. The scenes aren't anything special and are mainly there for your viewing enjoyment.
After you complete story mode (Attack Mode), you unlock True Attack Mode which is a highly more difficult play through of Story Mode. I am in no way exaggerating when I say this mode is infinitely more challenging than Attack Mode. I died dozens of times in just the prologue alone. Gamers who are looking for more tricker gameplay will thoroughly enjoy True Attack Mode.
I finally ventured into Expedtition Mode and its perhaps my favorite mode of the game. You basically collect resources to upgrade your gears and mounts.
All in all: the game is still highly entertaining. I'm hoping within the next couple of days, more add-ons will be added for the game other than the two currently available.

Pros:
It’s very fun to play as someone who has played Dynasty Warriors before I thought it wouldn’t work as Dynasty Warriors usually involves you slaughtering everything that moves in a two button combo, which wouldn’t work in Attack on Titan. Luckily it isn’t like that. The game’s movement follows the series famous steam punk esque ODM gear. You swing around as steam punk Spider-Man and it is so much fun. The titans while easy to take down are fun to fight and one shotting them when slicing there nape. All while playing your favorite attack on titan characters and getting/upgrading your gear. It’s cell shaded graphics look like the Anime and the cutscenes are nice it follows all of Season 1 of the anime and plus a little extra. It runs at a smooth 60 FPS making the action smooth. It was so much fun playing through this game.
Cons:
Despite how fun much fun I had it gets very repetitive after a while after you beat the game you get this epilogue as end game content and it’s pretty much padding that follows season 2. You also receive requests as you do these mundane requests from people from the Anime/Manga that involved killing x amount doing x amount of side mission getting an S rank it’s all done through the epilogue or scouting missions which are side missions for grinding or farming. So the game started to lose steam after beating the main plot. Another issue is there is no dubbing what so ever all audio is in the original Japanese . Now I know a lot of people prefer the sub over the dub so for them it's a non issue but for those who prefer the dub you don’t have the option. The game also suffers from bad camera angles and frame rate drops. I was play a mission a there was a swarm of titans and the game started to slow down and turn into a powerpoint. The camera went crazy during this and it ended up being just a giant mess that didn’t surprisingly in my death because the game is very easy. Yes whether on normal or on hard the game is very easy as juxtaposition to the anime where taking down titans was this herculean task. In AoT Wings of Freedom Armin could take down titans very easily.
Conclusion:
Attack on Titan gets a recommendation from me but with comes with a caveat of red flags to people because it isn’t for everyone. If you do not like subs this game is not for you. If don’t like the dynasty warriors formula of games then this isn’t the game for you. If you can get past those two things then Attack on Titan is a solid game. As a fan of the show it’s fun playing as your favorite characters (shout out to my boi Levi) swinging around and saving mankind from the titans. My hope for the future is we get an RPG of attack on titan and be able to create a customizable scout and explore the open world within the Attack on Titan universe. Until then Attack on Titan Wings of Freedom is a solid game that has shortcomings but at the end of the day it does justice to the Attack on Titan franchise.
Although, the formula is different, it is also simple. Given the variations in situations, this formula becomes very diverse. Whether you're fighting Abnormal Titans or trying to get a clear aim at the Titan weakspot, this simple formula can easily become very complex in a short amount of time.

This game might not be for everyone as it is repetitive and if you are a trophy/ achievement hunter the game then becomes extremely grindy.
I first originally played this on the pc (close to getting all achievements) I ended up enjoying the game for what it was.
I wanted to own a physical copy for myself to add to my collection. I've noticed not all the time there is a physical copy available on Amazon but you can always buy this game on the PS4 store.
Despite the games flaws I did enjoy it 😊

Yes it's a lot of monney, but hey, it's an video from the best anime and it's in japanese! Why not? (you have subtitles).
So, as a big fan my judgement is based on my love for this anime (or my fangirl'ing' over this anime) and I recommand this for Otaku's! ALTOUGHT watch the anime before playing it. it is spoiler filled. So, you have to see the anime before! And, following the manga is a bonus too.
So much fun, especially if you are a fan of the show or manga.
This copy was English subbed for me and took a little while to get used to the controls. Once you figure it out, which does not take to long, you are instantly hooked. Feels a lot like modern Spider-Man games, flying around and taking down Titans.
One thing to mention is that the game-play/missions are very repetitive .. you spend the entire game fighting the same enemies in mostly the same environment. Something to think about if you are looking for various unique missions.
For me, this was not an issue because the whole idea of flying around slicing titans was enough to keep me playing for hours and hours.
