Worked well for charging, but is falling apart rapidly
UPDATE:Anker came through and replaced the case so I am adding a star back. This one seems to be holding up very well after a month of hard use. I just traded in my iPhone for an Android, but handed the case down to my wife who will continue to use it.I really loved have the battery built in to the case and is probably the biggest thing I miss having switched back to Android. It really is a huge convenience I didn't know I needed until I had it.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------FIRST POST:I want to like this case, I really do, however it is starting to literally fall apart after about 6 months. To be fair, I travel a lot for work (which is why I wanted the battery case) and got tired of having to walk around the airport with a power bank and cord in hand all the time.On the plus side, it was really convenient and charged the phone very well. While the micro-usb connector location is not very compatible with any of my car holders or cradles, I can live with that. I have a ton of micro-usb cables from devices so this was not an issue. The weight isn't bad and I really like the feel of the case. My wife has a Mophie that is more slippery to me, and I like this better. I like that the buttons are exposed rather than trying to put them under a case. My sausage fingers don't work will with those sorts of covers. It does get a little warm in use, but that's to be expected. My problem is that after 6 months, it is literally falling apart in my hand. See the attached pictures. It started with the surround for the silent switch breaking and now the entire side, along the volume buttons has broken off. In addition, the area around the headphone jack has broken off exposing the circuit board. I'm going to stop using it as this exposed area could easily get water in it from a glass sweating on a table or in a cupholder in the car. I don't it shorting out and blowing up the phone, or causing a battery meltdown. These lithium batteries are no joke and not something to play around with (just ask Samsung). This really came to my attention after my kid spilled some fingernail polish remover on the counter and it almost went in the phone. That caused some of the case coating to peel, that that's not the fault of the case. Nail polish remover exposure is probably not a reasonable use case.It just seems like the case has become really brittle and is literally falling apart in my hand. There is a new crack in the bottom near the speaker vent now as well. For the record, the phone has not been dropped, all of this is due to wear from normal use on my desk in in my pocket.I really wanted to love it, I did, but I can't see paying for another one to last only 6 months.*EDIT 5/18/17*: Anker has reached out to me and appears to be sending a replacement. I have to give them credit for the good customer service. I'll update when I get the replacement

Writing reviews is not my forte, but I feel compelled to write this one. I've owned iPhones for years and have arm wrestled with their short-life battery issues, which have necessitated buying a battery charger case for each. My job includes considerable and frequent travel, so a phone with a dead battery is not an option. With many low quality cases on the market, I've always gone with the proven, tried and tested Mophie. However, the life span of their battery cases has averaged only about a year. At $100+ per case, this has been an expensive solution, and Mophie cases have their own issues, which led me to look at other options.

I just upgraded to an iPhone 6s and wanted to see if I could find a better battery case for it. I read all the reviews on all the cases (thank you Amazon!!!) and decided to give the Anker case a try. With a low price and a rating higher than a Mophie, I decided to take a leap of faith. Reading through the Anker reviews, I was concerned about the battery button and the case not fitting. Amazon sent the case quickly (actually delivered it on a Sunday!) and I immediately tried it out.

    Experience:
1.) Right out of the box it fit like a glove on my iPhone 6s ... actually better than previous cases I've used. So I'm wondering what other reviewers of this product are experiencing. Maybe they purchased a case meant for another phone.

2.) The battery button reviews are concerning, and honestly, I came close to not trying this case because of them ... but I took the chance and am glad I did. I tested the button issue many ways, in my front pocket and in my back pocket, without being able to recreate the battery button issue. Then I tried something different and turned the phone so that the battery button side went into my back pocket first. Then I sat on the phone and was able to turn on the battery. The case is curved right where the button is located, so if it's the first part to go in your pocket and you sit on it, you can accidentally turn on the battery. If you insert the phone into your pocket with the button going in last, there is no issue. So my suggestion is to insert the phone with the camera side going in first and you will avoid accidentally turning on the battery. My bet is that this is the way most people do it naturally.

3.) I also read that the case won't last if you drop it. Welcome to the real world. This is not an OtterBox Defender case. It's not meant for extensive abuse. It compares to the protection a Mophie gives your phone, so don't play football with it. The case is slim, built well for what it is, and the matte finish is great. It does provide protection for minor falls, and you won't be disappointed with this case unless you hammer your phone regularly. If you do, buy something meant for abuse. The logic here is you wouldn't buy a pickup truck to do the work of a dump truck.

**Customer Services is great!!! This is a huge benefit. Anyone who has purchased electronic devices knows the issues you can experience with customer service. Reading through the reviews of this product, it is evident that Anker's customer service is stellar. They stand behind their product and go the extra mile to fix any problems. What more can you ask for?

So here's my summary. This is a great case that's built well and performs well. It fits your phone fantastically, but it's not built to endure a construction worker's strenuous usage. The battery recharges your phone quickly and the battery button is no issue if you insert it into your pocket with the button on the upside. At $40, you can buy 2.5 Anker battery cases for the price of one Mophie Juice, and honestly, I think the Anker is a better overall case.

I've never had a battery charging case before. I've seen people use them, and I've thought "Oh, that's cool." Nothing more. On the spur of the moment, I decided to give it a shot, and bought this case because it had really good reviews. I am incredibly satisfied with my purchase. Although initially the Iphone felt a little bigger, it wasn't a huge difference. The case itself is well constructed, it feels solid and sturdy, and looks good. I absolutely love the battery on this thing. I used to have to charge my phone throughout the day, it would be dead by 1pm or so because I constantly use my phone for texts, web browsing, netflix and playing games that would totally kill the battery. Since getting this case it has never been an issue because this case will charge my phone up to full THROUGH THE USE OF ANY APPLICATION I've used so far. You don't have to stop doing whatever it is you're doing to wait for the phone to charge! Its quick and effective and I was pleasantly surprised, because I was not expecting that. I've actually recommended buying this case to a couple of my friends because its definitely been useful and convenient, and at $40 honestly, I'd say its a sweet deal, especially when they have cases for $30 that do nothing more than cover your phone. Pitch in $10 more and double your battery life? Yes please!

The one downside I would say, is the headphone plug in. The case came with an adapter/extender, which was nice. I only had one, and the headphones I was using had the little L plug in. However, this is a minor issue, as if you have the Iphone headphones or many other type of headphones with a straight plug in, it will fit right through the case with no issue.

The case also has a micro SD charger, not the Iphone one. At first, I was puzzled as to why they would do that. Then, I realized whether it was intended or not, it's a good thing. If I ever do need to charge my phone/case (this has not happened, I haven't killed the case's battery life until way late in the day when I had easy access to a charger, or the case died but left my phone well above %50 and I had more than enough juice to last the rest of the night), and I was at a friends house who has for example, an android, I can charge my case and my phone simultaneously because I can use the microSD. If they just have a lightning cable for the iphone, well I can just charge my phone.

    TL;DR

This case, awesome. Well worth the slightly bulkier Iphone and headphone jack inconvenience.

5.0 out of 5 stars nice charger for long trips
Reviewed in Canada on July 13, 2016
I had owned a mophie case charger before which was priced so high, this Anker slim charger case give Mophie a run for their money. This is slim and sleek looking and has a very nice smooth feel to it.
It comes with micro USB cable and a headphone adapter since most headphones jack wont fit into the deep headphone jack.

I wanted to charge it fully before I use it, as soon as I plugged it into the power adater with micro USB cable, the lights in the back of it came on, so the backup battery will come on as soon as you plug it into a wall adapter, it will charge your phone as well as the case slim charger.
The lights do stay on for the duration of the time the phone is getting charged.

I had about 5% charge and the case charger was full from an overnight charge, once I turned the case charger on from the back, it started to charge my phone, there are 4 LED lights on the back of the charger indicating how much is left, so after fully charging my phone too 100% (my phone is an iPhone 6S) there were still 2 dots lefts, which means about 50% or less remaining which was amazing. This meant that I still could charge my phone another 80% if it was close to end.

The back button to turn on is hard to press, it is a good thing since to turn it on, you have to hold it down for few seconds to turn it on. Pressing it once will give you the LED light and show you how much is juice is left on the battery backup.

I owned a similar case also like this which was 2-piece, and the top piece came off really easily, this Anker slim battery case has a very tight seal, when you insert the phone inside the case, it goes in with an effort and the top part to click in is also little tight, so not to come off accidently.

I had little trouble handling the phone since the case I usually use is a very slim case and with this battery case it made my phone unbalanced, it takes a little practice getting used to the case, but once you are used to it, its a breeze to handle it, the case itself has a very smooth velvety feel to it.

The speaker grill is facing frontwards with microscopic holes with a black background which makes it look really high quality product. Camera holes were fine and did not interfere with the camera. Other people have complained that their charger case accidently turned on while they had it in their pocket, I did not have that issue yet, hopefully I wont, but I have used it for about 2 weeks heavily and did not get that issue.

It charges the iPhone really fast and still have juice to spare. You dont have to charge your phone during the day at all if you have this case with you, Even if you use the phone heavily, still you will have have some juice left by the end of the day

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product and Great Customer Service
Reviewed in Canada on January 8, 2016
Update - After my review, Anker contacted me directly to see if they could assist. I hadn't reached out to them before, having thrown away the defective unit. I told Anker this and that I had already purchased another of their chargers because I liked them so much -- when they worked. They said no problem and that they still wanted to send me a free replacement unit for my troubles. They went above and beyond what I consider great customer service and have won a repeat customer in me. Thanks Anker for showing that in this day and age companies truly can offer great service!

    --

Update on my review - 6 months in the case no longer will charge the phone by its battery anymore. The case shows that it is fully charged through its indicator lights but won't charge the phone unless is plugged into the wall directly. Too bad -- it was great while it worked. Reducing my 5 star review to 2.

    --

I really like this battery case. Works well and fits my iPhone 6S perfectly. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to double their battery life while out and about. The price was very affordable as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Overall pretty good case
Reviewed in Canada on June 13, 2015
Overall pretty good case. At first I was a little disappointed at the thickness, length and weight when the iPhone 6 is added. But after awhile it grew on me. The length could be shorter but the weight is ok I like feeling the phone so it doesn't bug me. Only thing I dislike is the headphone jack. I am not going to carry the very long adapter around as it looks silly and to plug your apple supplied headphone in takes quite some effort. Sometimes I have to remove the case to plug it in. Seems like Anker cheaper out on integrating the headphone jack.

Other then that the battery is pretty good. Having the extra charge when I run low is great. Never really concerned about running out of power.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing product with one improvement needed
Reviewed in Canada on November 2, 2015
Great battery pack! Super slim and long lasting which will get me about 8-12 hours of moderate/heavy usage before reverting back to my now 100% internal battery which carries my through the rest of the day without any wall power.

One improvement that can be made is keep the charge indicator LEDs off when it's charging. It's unnecessary for it to be on all the time as my old battery packs I can just turn on the phone to see if it's charging and/or press the button on the pack to see the charge for a few seconds. Being in a social or professional atmosphere I try to keep the phone out of side but if I must have it on the tabletop, I'd rather have it facing down so alerts aren't always turning on the screen. Now I must keep it face up as quick multi-second alerts aren't as eye catching as constant glowing blue LEDs. In extreme cases, I will just turn the battery pack off so there is no light glowing.

This is an updated review: not 2 days after posting the feedback below and purchasing a new ANKER, their customer service specialist, Sharon, reached out to me. Smooth process, gave her the serial # of the old defective model, ANKER immediately saw I purchased a new one via Amazon and offered a full refund on the defective model. No hassles, no issues - product may fail but as a retailer, I know business is about people and how you make them feel, how you take care of them. So far my new ANKER is humming along nicely but I know, not only should there be an issue, ANKER will take care of it and they have gained a loyal customer. A big thank you to them and to Sharon because companies are made of people who make a difference.

I purchased this item Jan 31, 2017 via Amazon. I loved it at first...could get 2 charges and saved the problem iPhones all have of depleted battery in cold weather. March 27: the item died. All 4 lights on, no charge whatsoever...started buzzing every 10 seconds. Turned it off...re-charged it...no go. Does Amazon sell items that only work for 6 weeks?? Very disappointed. Had to buy another because I need the extra battery but want to let buyers know: it could also be a lemon....Amazon: the ball is in your court. What will you do? Thank you.
