About this item
- [24 COLORS SET] ZIG Clean Color Real Brush is a brush type watercolor pen, so it can be used in a wide range of applications such as illustration, design, lettering, and Manga. Because it is a water-based dye ink, you can blur it with water or mix with other real brush colors or blender. The pens are not individually shrink wrapped.
- [DIVERSE APPLICATION] Hold the pen upright to draw a fine line or hold the pen at an angle to color wider areas. When combined with a water brush, you can easily express blurring. Wet the tip of the pen slightly with water to produce multiple gradations of one color.
- [REAL BRUSH] Multiple colors can be combined to create gradations. First, start by applying a darker color, and before it dries, add another color over it to create a color gradation. It is ideal for watercolor, fine art, modern calligraphy, crafts, Journaling, card making, and scrapbooking. In addition, you can apply a darker-colored ink directly to the tip of a light-colored pen to create a gradation when drawing with the lighter color.
- [Certification] Xylene-free, conforms to ASTM D 4236, ACMI-certified for safety, registered AP mark for sale in the United States.
- [HIGH QUALITY] Flexible nylon brush tip makes it easy to create both narrow and wide lines. Great brush pens for watercolor painting, brush lettering, modern calligraphy and more. In 1973, Kuretake developed "Kuretake Fude Pen" and has developed various brush pen since then. Since the development of brush pen technology also applies to the ZIG Clean Color Real Brush, it has become a high-quality watercolor brush pen.

1. These will be frustrating at first for at least most people. When I first got them I really struggled to use them and the biggest problem I had was the paper, I tested them in a coloring book, that was printed probably on like a 65lb index stock which these are not meant to be on, and I found them really frustrating to try and blend, they didn't take water very well and left all kinds of weird smuggies on my paper. But then when I tried them on a 140lb water color paper they were amazing! colors flowed much better, blending was cleaner, and they didn't smug after being given a few seconds to dry.
2. The dry brush effect, because these markers are watercolor style, when you try to color over large areas you get a very uneven dry brush look, and the main reason is the ink doesn't come out that quickly. These are not really meant to be a stead stream of color with out layers in large areas. So if you do want to have a really dense color straight out of the pen, these aren't for you. They will not color like any marker you are used to.
3. I like a lot of different color choices when I am trying to color, but I also didn't want to totally go outside my budget so I only bought the 48 pack. It has proven to be more than enough when it comes to coloring. My only big issue is that the colors are not 100% true to cap color, which I didn't really expect and doesn't bother me to much as the first thing I did with them was make a swatch chart. The two colors that really bother me are Mustard and oatmeal which should almost be swapped as far as ink to color. Mustard is more tan and Oatmeal is almost the color from woodys shirt in toy story. But thats just a personal issue.
4. The light shades are almost florescent and many can be hard to see unless you have dark contrast colors next to them. There are probably 5 different colors that I don't reach for unless I am doing brush to brush and happen to need a lighter shade to make a medium. I find very little use for them outside of that.
But when it comes down to it I would for sure buy these again; but maybe go for a bigger set.
I will say that if you are looking for control and drawing fine lines and you are a beginner these probably aren't going to be easy to use. The tips are very soft and these markers require a steady hand to get consistently fine lines. I would recommend these for someone pretty experienced in watercoloring, but I think they could be just as fun for a beginner assuming the focus isn't on painting fine lines!
Overall I love these markers and I can't wait to experiment with them more! I have attached some pics of some art I've made with them so far. (My instagram is @opalaque btw if anyone wants to check me out!)

Second, given their ability to make very small to larger, thicker marks, they are very useful for adult coloring books. And since they are water-based, they do not bleed through all but thin paper (e.g., copy paper or slightly heavier) paper.
Third--and I haven't heard this mentioned much (if at all), I really like these markers for doing brush lettering. That said, it does take awhile to develop adequate control of the pens. But hand lettering does take considerable practice to get proficient and that includes using these markers.
Another feature of these markers that I haven't seen noted elsewhere is the fact that they have the color on the bottom of the marker, which makes it very easy to grab the right color when they are stored upside down. And these colored ends have good fidelity with the ink color, unlike some other markers.
I have tried to point out features of these super little pens not covere (or covered much) in other reviews. I hope it is useful.

I’ve used them on 210gsm card and they worked well but when I used them on 300gsm watercolour card they were amazing. They cost a lot but they are pure quality so you get what you pay for I got the 48 colour pack and there is a really good selection of colours They blend beautifully together and the ink is so vibrant. I am very happy with them and would definitely recommend them
