About the author
Bruce lives just outside of Philadelphia with his wife and four children. In addition to writing, he enjoys baseball, playing guitar, reading, church, cooking and being a dad.
Bruce grew up at the Jersey Shore (the picture is at Point Pleasant Beach, where Sands of Time is set) and graduated from Admiral Farragut Academy in Pine Beach, NJ where he first became enthralled with reading and writing. From his early influences Bruce was introduced to and fell in love with Shakespeare, Marlow, Henry James and Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Bruce has published the vampire thriller Sands of Time, the paranormal murder mystery Towering Pines Volume One: Room 509, the heart-warming story of how God selected The Star of Christmas, has a story in the horror anthology Bump in the Night 2010 and 2011 -- plus the Kindle only offerings -- the historical mystery of Sweet Nessie, the story of the undead performing at the Walnut Theater The Show Must Go On, and the top selling short-story Best Friends Forever about two friends who have been kidnapped by a secretive cult.

I started this book on Vacation at Disney World . While the kids were going crazy all over, I just wanted to open a book and relax.
The story of Lance Carter, and his, at first very hesitant desire to help his client, was an attention grabber. There were no low points in the book. Lance was described in such detail that I imagined I could meet him on the street .I also imagined that he would be someone I personally would punch in the face for his constant cocky bravado. At any rate, for any book to make me feel those emotions means that the book has the character description that makes me WANT to read more.
The novel had twists and turns and there were some points that you KNEW were going to happen, just because that is the way that most stories are written. However they do not taint the greatness of the story.
As far as negatives go, the only negative I had was geographical location. I have been to Philadelphia, but so many distinct locals were listed that it was a challenge in my mind to "map" where I was and where the protagonist and his associates were going. Had I not been in a spot with limited Internet access I might have drawn up a map to understand the story of location as it really is the secondary protagonist of the novel.
If you are looking for a nice read that draws you in and makes you WANT to finish the book... this is a great book.
Sarte's Lance Carter is, as I said concerning Philadelphia Story, reminiscent of Detective Phillip Marlow, but with this second installment Lance Carter develops much more character depth. The Insider's Story further establishes Bruce Sarte as a top notch author and leaves me wanting more from this series. Is it the perfect Detective story? It's about as close as one can get without getting their own detective's license and working the biggest case of their life.
As a side note.. I wanted a Turkey and Swiss from Old City throughout the book thanks to Mr. Sarte.. Philadelphia is a little out of my driving range..If I were less honorable I would deduct a star for making me want a sandwich I can't get my grubby little paws on. As it stands, I am honorable and grudgingly give Insider's Story 4.5 stars out of 5.
