Two couples. One in the present. One in the past. The one in the present: a poet and a med student. The one in the past: a young mother and a young warrior. And there are bears.

I’m primarily a gay writer, though some of my books feature straight people.

I used to say my books with naked guys on the covers were my gay books, but guys with their shirts off make for compelling covers, so most of the book covers now spotlight half-naked guys.

Except for the book about our dogs – St. Molly. Though somewhere in there is a picture of me in a bathing suit, crouching wet on the Texas shore. If you’re that desperate.

I write on a range of subjects, from easy mysteries to comedies of bad manners. I think I’m funny. My husband doesn’t. At best, he thinks I’m mildly amusing.

I'm a retired scene designer, having spent my career working in regional theater, television, and college teaching. I grew up listening to people tell stories, spent my life as a designer helping directors, actors, and other writers tell stories, and finally started telling some of my own.

I'm not expecting to get rich by writing. I'd rather be read. So if you happen to like one of my books, please pass on the good word.

Thanks.

Top review from the United States

Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2013
Richard Eisbrouch has written a modern mystery and a retelling of a myth: two books in one or, to be more accurate, two stories in one book. There is the present day story of Cory and Teri who, both being part Native American Indian, but from different tribes, decide to explore caves together in search of clues to Cory's, and possibly Teri's past. And then there is the myth that Cory is obsessed with: a tale of love, possible betrayal, and death, that he must either prove true or false to gain a balance in his life.
This novel tells both stories in alternating chapters that create both a sense of mystery and urgency to the tales. It is a masterful interweaving of stories that shows how the past often reverberates in the present and sets the tone for the future.
An intriguing book that holds your interest as you find yourself becoming as obsessed as Cory with uncovering the truth in the myth and the answer to his life.
