Almost Perfect Messenger Style Camera Bag

Almost Perfect Messenger Style Camera Bag
I have different bags for different needs. I like the well-padded stuffy bags for storage or going from points A to B. For working out of, going to a hockey game, or party, I prefer something small and minimalist such as a holster bag. And I have bags for these purposes. However, a need I was looking to fill was a bag that could hold my life for 12+ hours during a busy work and school day. I work and go to school at Arizona State University. It's a big campus and I do a lot of walking. My wish was for a bag that could do and hold the following:* Lunch and snacks* School notebook* Laptop or netbook* Professional size DSLR* Point-and-shoot camera, scientific calculator, wrist brace* Miscellaneous pens, pencils, etc.* Be comfortable for a 1 mile walk from my car to office, to and from classes during the day, and back again at night.* Not be so gigantic as to be silly looking during the days where I don't take all of the above with me.I have a large book bag that I was using to carry all of the above, except for the DSLR. On the days I brought my camera, I carried it in a Canon Deluxe Gadget Bag 100EG on my opposite shoulder.I first tried the Think Tank Urban Disguise 50. This is a fantastic bag. For my particular needs though, it was too narrow for my Canon 7D. I didn't like the tight fit. The UD 50 version 2.0 has an expansion zipper but it seemed like a workaround, and I didn't like the look of it when expanded. The UD 50 is also more structured and business like. Not necessarily a bad thing, but in my case I thought it looked too much like luggage, especially in a classroom setting.I had resolved myself to either leaving my camera or laptop at home. Then I noticed the Retrospective 30 is actually wider than the Urban Disguise line! Hmmm?? I ordered one. I'm glad I tried it!The Retrospective 30 holds all of the above. When first filling it, I immediately found that my lunch bag was not going to fit in the main compartment with my bottles and camera body. But then!...I noticed just how BIG the two front side compartments really are: 8" tall, 6" wide, 3" deep. I can't my entire lunch (with ice pack) in one pocket, except for sandwich bread which I usually put in the other front pocket.I've uploaded a few photos to better illustrate my comments. The bag came with the following items:2) holster style inserts2) 7" x 6" dividers3) 7.5" x 3.75 dividers1) all weather cover.1) Metal spring hook key ring (attached to inner pocket)Note: the dividers are VERY thin. I've tried to show this in my attached photos. My only real gripes with this bag are about the the external and internal zippered pockets. Inexplicably, the external pocket does not come up as high as the top of the bag. Although the bag has the height to enclose a standard 8.5" x 11" spiral notebook, in practice the edge sticks out about one inch :( Similar issue with the inside zippered pocket. I never expected this bag could hold a laptop, and it's not advertised as such. However, I feel that Think Tank could not have made this bag more netbook friendly. It would have been sooo easy guys! A typical netbook is about what, 10" X 7" or so, yes? Unfortunately, the top of the inner pocket does not come up as high as the top of the bag. What could have easly been a 7.5" deep pocket is only a 6.5" deep pocket. Anyway, the saving grace for the two zippered pockets is that they are still usable for my needs; I just cannot zip them closed.I have one other pocket issue; I would have preferred one or two more small pockets for better organized storage of small incidentals. Card reader, eyeglasses, car keys, change, gum, office keys. These all get mixed together in one of the two inside pockets. And with no small pocket outside, it means I have to open the flap and search around for these items. All in all this is a fantastic messenger style camera bag. Not quite perfect (for me), but this is my favorite camera bag to date. I love the unstructured, messenger style. I like that it looks and functions great whether I'm carrying all my stuff or just some of it. The pinestone color is cool, kind of a "military surplus" looking olive. The comfortable shoulder pad is *moveable* along the strap -- big plus! The build quality is top notch (other than the small removable hand strap). This bag feels built to last.UPDATE 2014:So I recently got a Surface Pro 3. It fits inside the inner zipper pocket. OK now this bag is perfect! :)thanks,Cameron

This camera bag is absolutely what I was looking for. I'm a huge fan of Lowepro bags and own or have owned about a dozen of them. But I was looking for a more inconspicuous bag an none of the Lowepro bags I looked at fit the bill exactly. I accidentally found this bag while looking at reviews on YouTube and was immediately hooked. It's big, yes, but at least it doesn't scream, "PHOTOGRAPHER!" I can fit my 60D with a Canon 24-70 f/2.8, a 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM II, and a flash. On the two outside pockets I stash three diapers size 4 and 5 and on the other side some wet wipes. Although this bag is big I'd never fill it all the way because this thing can get pretty heavy.

My only negative is the silent mode. There's a built in system where you can cover up the velcro so you don't make a sound when opening but now there's nothing stopping your equipment from just sliding out. I guess I would use that feature if I had my bag stationary on the floor or a pew and need quick access to gear. It would have been great if maybe they added a small clip just in case.

All in all it is a great camera bag and I highly recommend it for work and play. Great material, great look, and practical storage system inside. Maybe it's time to move to Think Tank.

This bag arrived today, another in a fairly long line of "looking for the right one."
It's large and roomy yet no too big, on the shoulder it is very comfortable with three heavy lenses, flash and pro DSLR body. As advertised it looks nothing like a camera bag ( but I guess if we all had one, the crooks would figure it out eventually!) I like the ability to throw the flap open and get to gear easily and yet it still feels secure enough.

Overall I'm very pleased so far, I may update this after carrying it around all day on a shoot, I suspect the news will be good.

This is a wonderful bag. Just the right size for my camera equipment. I still own a $300 lowepro backpack but this one weights so much less and is a lot more comfortable. I was very surprised at the quality of the bag. very well made. I usually don't like this type of bag but man is it comfortable. I have 1 7d with 70-200 lens mounted, 1 5dmk2 with 50mm mounted, 1 580ex, spare batteries, and accys. all fit and very comfortable to carry. Love the padding on strap. Will recommend again and again.

I have carried this bag for a year and a half now shooting various festivals. I have no problem carrying my most needed equipment, pro-body, 17-35, 24-70, and 80-200mm lenses, along with one hot shoe flash. I can also fit my iPad, various cables, batteries, and dust blower and lens pen. With all my equipment, the bag can be pretty heavy, but the comfortable strap seems to ease the load a bit. I have never suffered from soreness after hauling my bag for 12+ hour days at music festivals and the bag seems to be wearing well. I have never had a issue of my gear getting wet in the certain event of rain shower at outdoor events. The bag protects pretty well with a lite rain, but for heavy rain, the built in rain cover is quick and easy. The Retrospective line is really a great line for working photographers.

I have a backpack, but as an old Photographer, I find something "teenagerish" about carrying it. For thirty years I carried a Domke shoulder bag until a colleague talked me into a backpack. After carrying the backpack for 3 years, I wanted a shoulder bag for quick photo sessions. So, I purchased the Think Tank, and I couldn't be more pleased. It fits under the seat on an airline, and I am able to carry it on short hikes and pull my camera out without taking it off my shoulder. I carry a DSLR and 3 lenses and my iPad easily. Unfortunately, I can't carry my very heavy 100 - 400 or my 70 - 200. I still use the backpack when I know I am going on big trips and using all of my equipment. However, for 70% of what I do this bag is the one. It is also elegantly constructed and it fits my old guy persona especially when I am wearing a nice hat while out photographing. This is far more stylish than schlepping a backpack.

This bag fit all of my requirements, including the less-important ones such as style and color. As a wedding photographer I needed a bag roomy enough for my gear and accessories (including keys/wallet/phone/etc.), comfortable enough to sling over my shoulder for long periods of time, with plenty of options for arranging my stuff inside.

The padded strap takes so much pressure off of the shoulder, even with the bag is stuffed two bodies, 3 - 4 lenses, a flash, and water bottle, and the shorter strap is handy for moving it around quickly. The added front pockets are perfect for keeping my charger, spare batteries (lithium and AA), spare CF cards, and a portable card reader. A large zippered pocket across the back would fit a slim laptop under 15", so perfect for all your small personal things like a tablet or e-reader, cell phone, keys, wallet, etc.

Small details like the Velcro-silencing option (very important during wedding ceremonies) and rain cover (which I used while shooting a downtown session in the rain, and it was perfect) add to the overall value of the bag. It looks like a typical messenger bag, so it doesn't shout, "Hello, I am filled with expensive equipment, please steal me." The canvas color, Pinestone, is a distressed greenish-grey that doesn't clash with anything.

I am so pleased with this purchase and would recommend to anyone in the market for a great bag. If you have more than 3 - 4 shorter lenses (100mm or below), or a 70-200 you want to keep on a camera body with more than 2 other lenses, you might need to go with a larger bag.

Best description is WOW! I was looking for a walkaround bag for the times I didn't want to take the backpack. I wanted one that wouldn't shout, "Camera gear found here." This is by far the best I've found. It will hold a ton of stuff, (more than you will want to carry.) I have a Lowepro Fastpack 250 and this will actually hold more and yet is surprisingly compact. Being the first Thinktank bag I've owned, I was glad to see it is built very ruggedly. Should hold up for years to come. I researched a lot of bags and couldn't be happier I chose this one.

Strong and very comfortable shoulder strap. Easy access to equipment and good and useful dividers provided. A waterproof cover is also included.

Noch eine 5er Rezension schreiben? Warum denn?

Also von mir klare Empfehlung
