Product Description
To get right to the point, the new INCRA I-Box is the most advanced tool ever produced for creating a stunning variety box joints & finger joints. Its revolutionary design allows faster setup, greater versatility, and improved user safety compared to traditional jigs. At the same time, it's easy to use and the included 1-hour instructional DVD covers everything from basic setup to advanced decorative joinery. The I-Box is an evolutionary leap forward from conventional box joint methods - this single jig can be used on both your table saw and your router table, and the IBox's dual pitch lead screw mechanics easily micro-adjust joint tightness and provide a whopping 1/8-Inch - 3/4-Inch range of pin widths. It's capable of making good fitting box joints using any width cutter within that range into lumber from 1/4-Inch to 1-Inch thick. The advantages continue far beyond the basics: I-Box-exclusive joints like the Center Keyed Box Joint can be used to produce symmetric patterns rather than ending your joint with a partial pin as often required with other traditional box joint jigs. The Splined Box Joint is yet another INCRA-only decorative joint that's guaranteed to add wow-factor to your projects, and the I-Box can even be used to produce an unlimited variety of classic dentil mouldings. Nothing says "Craftsmanship" like adding solid wood hinges to your projects, and the I-Box can be used in conjunction with the INCRA HingeCrafter to produce wooden hinges in four different barrel diameters and in lengths up to 10". Works with the metric HingeCrafter, too. If you've been looking to improve your shop's joinery capabilities with a fast, versatile, and easy to use method for producing box joints of all descriptions, the INCRA I-Box is what you've been waiting for.

Pro
Solid construction and good heft helps minimize vibration.
Supports a wide range of pin sizes and continuously variable.
- so if you what to use a 15/32 plywood router bit, you can. (not sure why you would but you can)
Miter rail adjustable for very good fit in track (zero play makes for very constant pin fit)
Fence blocks (thick piece with re top in pix) can be adjusted in to match wood thickness
- Supports and holds your work piece. This works well enough that I find no need to clamp the wood to the
rear fence as shown in video
Excellent instructions and product video (On disc)
Micro adjustment for pin tightness
I find I can cut the two opposing sides at the same time with little to no loss in accuracy.
Excellent stability. I can start / stop / remove .. use my machine for something else .. replace jig, and restart cutting
more parts later while maintain a perfect fit. Not the normal thing to do.
Con
Not many - which they gave you more than one backer board. (do provide good drawing to make your own replacements)
Set up can be a bit tricky to it precisely dialed in to your desired pin tightness.
Now don't get me wrong, I have very quickly and easily whipped up boxes (1/8, 1/4, 1/2 pins) that went together ok BUT in some cases the final clearance was either a just little too lose or to tight for my liking. This is because the set up requires you to adjust the finger spacing so your test cut 'just' slides snugly over them. Just slides?? to snug or not snug enough and you have a fit that is a little lose or tight. With practice you do get used to a good snugness feel. Again, to be clear, I have NEVER built a joint that would not go together and usable, but (IMHO) were not ideal. Dialing it in is straight forward but requires you to make one or more test parts for a fit check prior to committing to your final stock. Not a real big deal and one you may or may not find necessary.
Recap: Excellent box joint jig but a bit pricy. Many lower cost options (not as robust) are out there, as are home made jigs. But is you do a lot of box joints, THIS IS THE JIG TO GET
During the past 40 years of woodworking I have used just about every jig imaginable, from dozens of shop built jigs to many "store bought" premanufactured, and VERY expensive jigs. Some are good, most however are clumsy, single purpose jigs and amazingly, some of the most expensive ones were the worst.
I bought THIS jig, with a jaundiced eye but the videos I saw on YouTube were impressive.
Like everything Amazon, delivery was lightening fast. They still amaze me at their ability to send things all over the continent within a few days, FOR FREE, to Premier customers. Just amazing.
But, as to the Incra jig.
This is, without a doubt the very best box joint jig I have ever used. It is easy to assemble and both the printed instructions and accompanying DVD are incredibly clear and easy to follow.
The unit is well engineered and flawlessly manufactured. It is bot rugged, yet retains the delicate side required for fine adjustments for tight fitting joints. On my very first cut, the fingers (pins) were too small and the joint was sloppy, but not exceedingly so. After a single adjustment (following the printed instructions), the following joint was flawless. And by flawless....................I mean FLAWLESS. Perfect. The jig is also versatile, enabling the woodworker to produce numerous different styles of box joints. In the end, this jig is FINALLY what I have been looking for. It works well on either the table saw or the router bench. I prefer the table saw but I've used it on the router table as well.
I love box joints. They are incredibly strong and very pleasing to the eye. This jig empowers users to produce a dizzying aray of different joints and it is FAST, and ACCURATE.
It is light years ahead of ANY jig I have ever used before, and I've used them ALL short of the hand made "gear advance" box joint jig seen on YouTube which is AMAZING!
I love this unit. Five stars. Hands down. Five stars.
