Bengal's Quest (A Novel of the Breeds) Hardcover – June 23, 2015

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 2,023 ratings

“No one spins a story quite like Lora Leigh” (Night Owl Reviews)—and when it comes to her “highly charged and carnal” (Fresh Fiction) Breed novels, nobody does it better. Now, the #1 New York Times bestselling author tells a story of two Breeds who are united by animal desires, only to find it’s vengeance that stirs the mating heat…

He was a shadow, ever shifting and insinuating, able to blend in everywhere and anywhere. The elusive ideal conceived and created by the Genetics Council, he went by just as many names as he had identities—the last one being Gideon.

Now calling himself Graeme, he hides in plain sight, terrifyingly close to his goal. A rogue Bengal Breed, he has loyalties to no one but himself. And he has a need for vengeance that surges hot and swift through his veins.

Graeme plans to exact an extreme and ruthless vendetta against those who wronged him—Breed and human alike. All will suffer his wrath: those who created him, those who pretended to love him, and those who betrayed him.

That includes the one at the center of it all: a seductive, enigmatic woman helpless against the man whose desire is just as desperate as his need to destroy.

And he’s on her scent…

Lora Leigh lives in the rolling hills of Kentucky, often found absorbing the ambience of this peaceful setting. She dreams in bright, vivid images of the characters intent on taking over her writing life, and fights a constant battle to put them on the hard drive of her computer before they can disappear as fast as they appeared. Lora's family, and her writing life co-exist, if not in harmony, in relative peace with each other. Surrounded by a menagerie of pets, friends, and a teenage son who keeps her quick wit engaged, Lora's life is filled with joys, aided by her fans whose hearts remind her daily why she writes.

She can often be found daydreaming and plotting and planning with the varied characters that fill her imagination when she isn't planning her flower gardens, watching the horses romp outside her home, or spending time with the family and pets she fills her life with. Writing is her passion, her peace, and her lifeline. She hopes you enjoy the stories, and that you visit her website www.loraleigh.com often for updates and news on characters and upcoming books

A great follow-up to the last story. I absolutely love how Lora Leigh not only keeps the series going and cohesive, but how every story is stand alone but tied together. You get to catch up with old characters and gain insight into both the new and the old. As for this story, it was wonderful and as full of drama and suspense as usual. Also the sex was hot, hot, hot! There are plenty of twists and turns throughout the story that keep you reading well into the night. I definitely had a hard time putting it down once I started it. Of course, I've read every book in this series, but never once has Ms. Leigh let me down. Even her short stories are great. She is very good at setting the scene but not bogging you down with unnecessary stuff. If you haven't previously tried on of the stories in this series I'd suggest starting at the beginning just for your own fun, but you really can start anywhere in the series and not be lost. Ms. Leigh gives you enough background to seamlessly slide right in to any book In her series, something I really appreciate since there's usually a year long gap between new books. As for this book, I absolutely loved every minute of it! A rogue hero, a very reluctant heroine and so mant twists and turns it sometimes made my head spin. But I loved every minute of it. I try not to do spoilers in my reviews, so I'm sorry if you expected more but I refuse to spoil a book for anyone or anything. All I can say is read this story. Well worth reading!

Spoilers

Despite this being book #30 I am still hooked!

This was very good although like all her books it left more questions than answers at the end...

This is the story I have wanted from the moment they first talked about Gideon the crazy Bengal because something about him was sexy, tortured, and exciting.

What I didn't see coming was the way he loved Catarina or his Cat. She was his rock that one person who kept him sane and whole. Cat didn't know that and had no idea what she meant to him or the family who had adopted her.

They loved her but they didn't fight for her which led her to believe that she was alone in the world when that was far from true. The things I didn't like were that they didn't explain things that needed to come to light in this book because Lora seems to have a plan for his series but it also seems to never end...I get why but it's getting a little old. She should start reveal larger pieces of the main plot that connects the breeds and stop pussyfooting around the damned thing.

It was a nice touch to see her family pop up at the end and to only have one run in with the council. It was also nice to have an alpha who wasn't overly idiotic which has seemed to be a theme in her books until the last two or three. Don't get me wrong she is a brilliant writer who has held my attention for 30 books which is rare normally around book 15-17 I get bored and move on but with her I haven't so kudos to Lora for that.

All in all this was a EPE or five star read and likely I will reread it as I have with most of the books in this series...

He was a shadow, able to blend in everywhere and anywhere. He’s a rogue Bengal Breed hiding in plain sight. He has a need for vengeance and he has the scent of the seductive enigmatic woman who’s at the center of it all in this thrilling paranormal romance.

Cat is helpless against the man whose desire is just as desperate as his need to destroy and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the electrifying and seductive story as Cat and Graeme fight their way through the mating heat. The sizzling chemistry and fiery tempers between Cat and Graeme has sparks flying but this relationship is an emotional roller coaster as circumstances and the past has a colossal grip that won’t let go which has lots of emotional turbulence flowing from the pages and capturing the heart of the reader even causing a few tears. These strong, vibrant characters demands readers attention while they seduce you with their story while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of suspense, excitement, turmoil and romance.

Manipulations, intrigues and suspense keep readers on their toes with pulse pounding excitement building as Graeme puts his plans in motion and schemes take on a whole new meaning and adding to all that excitement is the unexpected twists that surprise readers throughout the story. The scenes are well written with vivid details that make it easy for the reader to become immersed in the characters’ lives as they live their story.

Jonas is up to his usual games but by adding Graeme into the mix, things just got more complicated and more intriguing because there is no way that I could guess to just who was what up to what and what the outcome of all their scheming would be and Cat lives up to her name and gives as good as she gets which really made me chuckle a bit. Once again, the Breeds held be spellbound from beginning to end and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

I love this series! And this was another mesmerizing story in the life and death of the Breeds. I throughly enjoyed Cat, who was unaccepting of being controlled, by anyone. Graeme fought the connection, especially since he was also someone else. An insane someone. This book kept me glued, a rollercoaster of excitement, danger and enough sexy loving to singe the edges.

Love, love, love this series!
My only regret is that I'm just about on the last book! I hope that Ms Leigh will continue on writing about the Breeds, and grace us with more books in this series!
She has the ability to bring us in to the world of breeds where we feel a part of the whole concept. I truly never want it to end!
I would recommend starting from the beginning of the series, at the very first book (Tempting The Beast), and continue on from there!
I love seeing characters from previous books interact with new members, especially ones you aren't quite ready to see go yet! Lol
Highly recommend this series!
