Product Description
Product Description
The NETGEAR GS116NA Unmanaged Desktop Switch features 16-Port Gigabit Ethernet, ProSAFE Lifetime Protection and more.
From the Manufacturer
Now you can have a powerful, high-speed network on a small scale. Netgear's GS116 Gigabit Ethernet Switch lets you build a system that provides a full, dedicated 1000 Mbps connections so you can move very large files across your network instantly. The standards-based GS116 helps to protect your existing and future network infrastructure investments by painlessly integrating other 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps devices.
This potent switch is ideal for workgroups or quickly upgrading workstations to full Gigabit speed, plus it's packed with ease-of-use features to simplify your workday experience. Its compact design fits neatly into small work spaces and, since it's self-cooling without a fan, it runs silently and unobtrusively.
The switch is, chiefly:
Power-packed. Features 16 high-speed, auto-switching 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet connections. And because Copper Gigabit Ethernet is a full duplex standard, you can get up to 2000 Mbps on each port.
Versatile. Integrates 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps devices on the same network and will honor Layer 2 802.1p traffic priority tags. Every port automatically senses the right speed and full/half duplex mode, while Auto Uplink technology automatically adjusts for straight-through or crossover cables.
Accommodating. LEDs embedded in each of the 16 RJ-45 jacks make for easy monitoring. Space-saving dimensions are ideal for desktop or wall mounting in home, small office, workgroups, departments and conference room environments. Its durable metal case has no fan for silent operation. Compatible with either PC, Macintosh, UNIX, or Linux operating systems.
Solid. Providing plug-&-play simplicity with exceptional performance and reliability, the GS116 is a cost effective solution for your growing network. This switch is made to last and Netgear backs it with a solid warranty: switch: 5 years, power supply: 2 years.
What's in the Box
A 16-port gigabit switch, a wall-mount kit, an AC adapter, an installation guide, and a warranty/support information card.

First and foremost, this switch is incredibly reliable. I can state with confidence that after using it for a while, it has consistently and steadily handled my devices while maintaining a network connection. I had no trouble setting it up because of its plug-and-play functionality; I didn't have to deal with any difficult configurations or software installations.
The GS308's quiet functioning is one of its most outstanding features. This switch doesn't make any noise at all, in contrast to some others that occasionally make annoying fan noises, which helps to maintain peace and quiet at my workspace.
The switch's elegant, small shape also seamlessly integrates into my system without taking up extra room. I am confident that it will continue to operate dependably for many years to come because of its sturdy construction.
The GS308 is a future-proof investment because it has the most recent upgrades as well. It has shown outstanding interoperability with contemporary devices and allows high-speed data transfers, making it the best choice for tasks requiring a lot of data.
The value for money offered by the NETGEAR GS308 is simply exceptional. It is an affordable and useful option for both home and workplace use due to its fair price and great performance.
The NETGEAR 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS308) is wonderful, and I am very happy with it. It has exceeded my expectations by proving to be a dependable, effective, and silent network hub. Finding this model has been a game-changer after a negative experience with a previous brand. Anyone in need of a high-quality, trustworthy Ethernet switch should definitely choose the GS308.
Excellent price and quick ship. 👍👍👍
It doesn't have any management capabilities or user interface: Just plug your devices in and go.
If this sounds right for your use case, this is a good, affordable, durable option.
The GS308 is unmanaged which is a "why would I need to managed switch/hub" question that I've yet to find an answer for. There are similar models that cost more, the GS108 for example. But other than the warranty and the extra lights on each port to tell you the connected device speed, I went cheap.
I don't spend much time looking at the pretty lights blinking on my switches. Because I'd have to lay on the floor under my desk. :)
i replaced both switches and several cables. I bought CAT 8 cables, overkill but "future proof!" so I'm good for a long long time. The LAN /is/ "snappier" with 10/100/1000 switches and CAT8 cables.
In my experience, Netgear makes good stuff that lasts a long time.

The thing I would point out is for anyone ordering outside USA, the plug is a US plug and mine didn't like the adapter for a UK socket, the plug failed. I have replaced this with a suitable UK plug (Output: DC 12V 1A) and it is running without issue. Would buy again.
