Into the Tomorrows (Bleeding Hearts Book 1) Kindle Edition
I was born in sadness, which was just the beginning of a solemn and desolate life. I'm no stranger to pain—none of us are. The night I held my best friend's hand as she died, I understood true agony. And I never thought I'd feel happiness again.
But that was so long ago...
Moving to Colorado to be with Colin, my high school sweetheart, was the perfect way to start over and rekindle what had begun to fizzle. I wanted that spark to ignite, to burn in passion and desire. Instead, I found myself falling for Jude, my boyfriend's roommate. He’s the only person who understands my soul, who can breach the walls I’ve built. But I can't have him.
Because I'm Trista Kohl, and my destiny is sorrow.
PLEASE NOTE: Into the Tomorrows is not a standalone. It is the first book in a series. The sequel, Back to Yesterday, will be published on October 20, 2016.

I'm going straight into book two. Brilliant new author to me who I shall look out for.

He's so into himself he doesn't really see one one else. Trista is such a lost soul. How do you know what love is if you never felt it or got from the people who should unconditionally. She just wanted to be seen as Trista not as a someone's girlfriend, friend, or the junkies mom kid. She's always in the shadows never shining.
Her friend Ellie tried to get her to break out of her shell. Then one night a party her boyfriend hosted turned fatally wrong she lost not only her buff but everyone she loved after that she turned depressed and didn't know how to let go of that pain. She stronger than she thinks.
Moving to be closer to her boyfriend of 6yrs Collin to try to make their relationship better but she realized that that they just know longer had a connection the more she tried the more she felt lost. Collin didn't want her to go he felt he needed to watch over her. The secrets they both have but never tell. Trista starts getting to know Collins roommates Mila and Jude brother and sister.
Jude invites Trista on a hiking trip apparently Collin was going on and didn't invite her. Trista finally seeing with her own eyes who Collin really is and isn't. Jude is the only one who really talked and stayed with her. He's the one who asked how she was and questioned why she was with Collin. After Trista almost fell off the cliff if it hadn't been for Jude. Jude dislocated his shoulder saving her. She now had to return the favor of helping him and brought him to the hospital. While her so called boyfriend went home.
Days went by and no longer getting closer but farther apart. She and Mila came to know each other a little more and her and Jude also. Collin finally asked Trista on a date. Agreeing she thought she at least had to try she went but the ride to the movies proved to be disaster. They fought over her talking about Ellie and not letting her go after 3 yrs after her death. Collin hated she was so sad all the time. Trista hated Collin didn't know her at all and the pain and loneliness she held. He left her on that date and Jude picked her up. Only to find out her left and went to a bar. Trista finally had enough and broke up with Collin when she felt relief and not sadness she knew it should of ended along time ago.
Jude asked if she still want to go on his trip to Yellowstone to help with his job. She figured she had no where else to go. Plus she said she would help carry the packs because he shouldn't because of his shoulder. The more her and Jude were together she couldn't help the feelings she kept getting being around him. She was still trying to figure out Trista but slowly falling for Jude. One day on top of the mountain Jude was taking pictures and put his hat on Trista to keep her hair out her face. After the got off the mountain Trista asked to see the pictures when she saw the pic of her in his hat she was hit with a Big secret she had met Jude before he was the one who tried to save Ellie the night she died. Jude said he didn't want to tell her because she's so sad ready. So she told him No more secrets. There trip brought them closer than ever. Trista was ready to move on from Collin and for her and Jude to figure out what they are.
Little did she know after their trip all secrets would come out. Collin was in the hospital. Trista found out Collin had a heart condition that he's had before he met her and never told her. Plus that him and Mila have been dating for a year WTF slap in the face they all knew and no one told her. They all been keeping secrets and now Jude still has one more that Collin called him out on saying he was no better than him. That he knows them to like each other but he hasn't told her his secret of how him and Collin met apparently he has the same heart condition as Collin and that's why he needed help with the pack and why he has scars. It's all to much for Trista to take she does what she knows she runs. Going to Collins place grabbing Ellies box she leaves Jude a note saying to wait for her...Will it be to late.
“Time means nothing. Time is disposable. Time is the biggest thief of our lives, but only if we let it steal from us.”“Steal what?”“The moments we waste doing things that don’t make us happy.”

“I can feel your loneliness, Trista.” He was watching me, the moon reflecting off of his face. “It’s in your eyes, that hunger for something that digs past the superficial. You want someone to know you, but you’re afraid too. And you’re consoling yourself with someone who doesn’t want to know you because you know it’s safe.” He let out a breath, like he was absolving himself of some kind of demon. “ And f*** me if it doesn’t make me want to give you what you need. You’re hungry—you’re starving. And I wish it didn’t make me want to feed you.”
“My whole body is a story, and each mark upon it is a page. Sometimes things happen in a story that you don’t want—or don’t expect—because you don’t choose it. And then, some things happen because you’ve chosen them—wanted them. My scars are things I didn’t choose. My tattoos are things I’ve chosen. And all of it is me, my story. It’s the story that sits on my throat, begging to be told. And when you’re private to tell the story, you wear it instead.”
Every once in a while there is a story that is written that just blows your mind. The story is unlike anything that you’ve read before. From the moment you get it in your hands, all you can do is devour the words. For me, Into the Tomorrows, is one of those books.
Into The Tomorrows is unlike anything that I’ve read from Whitney Barbetti before and in my opinion, this is her best writing to date. Yes, you heard me. HER BEST WRITING. To say that this story has blown me away would be a complete and utter understatement. There are no words for what this story means to me.
Into The Tomorrows is real and raw. The emotions that this story pulls out of you are so unexpected. This book isn’t a traditional love story. Yes, there is some romance, but this book is about so much more. The characters are so complex and at times frustrating and not easy to love. Trista’s journey is not an easy one at all. Her story is heartbreaking and is one of loss. Her story will show you just how that loss can take over your life and make you a shell of the person you used to be. It’s a story of loosing yourself and clawing your way back. It’s about knowing when it’s time to let go; even if you don’t want to and moving on.
And I just have to say, that ending……The ending just blew me away. I didn’t see it coming. It was so powerful. It was so moving. It had me feeling so many things. My only complaint is that the story ended and I don’t have the next book in my hands. I have so many questions!! I am dying and I mean dying to know what happens next.
Whitney Barbetti has completely outdone herself with Into The Tomorrows. The writing is brilliant and gripping and it will leave you begging for more. This book has definitely earned itself a top spot on my list of favorite reads of 2016.
