Shameless: A Small Town Single Dad Romance (Texas Nights Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
Brady…
What the hell do I know about raising a baby? Nothing. Not a goddamn thing.
Yet here I am, the sole guardian of my niece. I’d be lost if it weren’t for Katherine, the beautiful girl who seems to have all the answers. Katherine, who’s slowly finding her way into my cynical heart.
I keep reminding myself that I can’t fall for someone when we don’t have a future. But telling myself this lie and believing it are two different things.
Katherine…
When Brady shows up on a Harley, looking like an avenging angel—six feet, three inches of chiseled muscle, eyes the color of wild sage, and sun-kissed skin emblazoned with tattoos—I’m not sure if I should fall at his feet or run like hell. Because if I tell him what happened the night his family died, he might hate me.
What I don’t count on are the nights we spend together trying to forget the heartache that brought us here. I promise him it won’t mean anything, that I won’t fall in love.
I shouldn’t make promises I can’t keep.

Brady. I just fell completely head over heels in love with him. He makes my heart throb...along with other things. But what I didn’t expect was to be touched by him so deeply. After Brady’s brother and wife are killed in a tragic accident, he goes to take care of their farm, and finds out he’ll be taking care of his niece Isabella. When he meets her....oh god. My heart! And, well...my ovaries exploded! And it happened over and over and over again. I’m so swoony I cannot even!
Everything about Brady is to die for. The way he moves, he’s just so damn deliciously sinful. His way with words is unforgettable. He is so hilarious, my face hurt from laughing. How he acts with Katherine. My god. I swear I melted into a puddle of lust. I love Katherine! I want to be her friend! She’s a feisty thing and such a beautiful person. The chemistry between these two was off the charts! I felt engulfed within their flames. Their banter was priceless. And the three of them together was so endearing, I have tears as I write this. I am crazy in love with them! Everything about them was amazing!
This story had my heart doing all of the things! It fluttered. It swelled. It crashed. It broke. It soared. It healed. That is why I love Lex Martin’s writing so darn much. She’s got the literary mojo that gets you going. Her writing pulls you in, and never lets you go. You become invested in her characters and their story. You’ll laugh, you’ll gasp...in more ways than one, and you’ll love - HARD. You will enjoy every single moment! Shameless is an original, emotional and wonderful love story about family, sacrifice and hope and I won’t ever forget it!
Shameless is a super cute, romantic, and steamy read. Brady Shepherd leaves Boston after his brother's death to wrap up the things he left behind in Texas. Not realizing his brother's one-year-old daughter had survived and that they'd had a farm of lavender and animals -- Brady realizes his stay in Texas might be longer than a few days. Not to mention, Katherine Duran, a beautiful, intelligent, caring woman is living there and taking care of the farm and the baby. The more time these two spend together, the harder it is to imagine leaving.
I really loved both Brady and Katherine as characters. Both were so kind and warm-hearted. Baby Izzy and the animals were cute as pie. I was envious of the depiction of life on the farm, it may have it's troubles but Katherine is living the dream. Although I wanted to shake some sense into Brady sometimes, I absolutely loved these two. They are perfect for one another.
The writing in this book was really good. Easy to read and enjoyable. I definitely recommend this one if you are looking for a small-town love story with a tattooed, gentleman who's good with babies, a loving, hardworking latina woman, and farm filled with goats, kittens, chickens, a horse, and a mischievous baby raccoon.
Shameless brings us an emotional story that is more than a love story, more than a blossoming romance. Shameless is a journey for the characters, a journey to self-discovery and self-forgiveness, it's a story of living with regrets but not letting them rule you. It's also a story about pain, gut wrenching soul deep pain, and understanding that pain and how to deal with it.
Brady isn't exactly happy with his life, he had other plans and feels stuck in his current role because his brother left him to it, he's held on to anger about that for a long time. He loves his family though and doesn't want to let them down. When everything seems to spiral out from under him though, its time to face some hard truths and make some decisions.
When Brady leaves Boston, alone, to make the trip to Texas after a call about an accident involving his brother and his family, he believes he's heading there for one reason only to find himself in a totally different and unexpected position. Brady has to work through his grief and the guilt he feels for not being the brother he should have been.
Katherine was lost until she found herself on the ranch in Texas helping out her good friends and trying to get her life together. When her good friends die unexpectedly, Katherine can only continue to do her best at keeping things up and running on the farm while waiting for Brady to arrive in Texas. Katherine has no idea what she's going to do after that happens, but for now she's just trying to hold it together, for herself, and for Izzy. Most importantly for Izzy who's lost everything she knows.
Katherine helps Brady out in so many ways, he would be lost in a whirl of duties if not for her help and explanations. Brady never expected to find himself guardian of his niece, or responsible for the goings on around a farm, but he sort of fits right into the middle of it. They don't expect that feelings that begin to develop, they don't expect to fall into each other, but its inevitable.
I love how Lex Martin pieces this story together, from the humorous to the almost make you want to sob moments, to the lighter emotional scenes. From the sweetness of Izzy, the struggles of Katherine and Brady and the addition of the animals around the place (especially that racoon), this story is full of FEELS. The changes in both of the characters build up the story and really feel like you are watching it play out in front of you.
Shameless is an amazing story and I fell for it quite fast. If you haven't given Lex Martin a chance yet, you won't be let down if you start with this one.

Sweet and innocent Katherine, there isn’t one thing not to love about this woman. She’s the shining light Brady needed in his life. Watching their love unfold was heart warming.
So good!! I just wish book 2 was a carry on between Kat and Brady, however it's a good book!
I want Brady! Haha
“Holy six-pack. I should pull my hands back, but I can’t. Maybe the oxygen deprivation warped my brain because my head is screaming to let go, but my fingers have a mind of their own… and they start to squeeze the taut muscle.”
“’Would dinner help? You must be starving. You’ve been in here brooding since you tried to flash me your palm tree this morning.’
And then I do the last thing I expected at a time like this. I laugh. Jesus. This girl”
I loved this read. The author writes really genuine love stories that are easy and delicious to read!! I
