Great Harness So Far!
Just got mine in the post today a very swift and prompt delivery. Kachina is a three month old German Shepherd/American Bulldog mix. Currently she weighs around 30 lbs and the medium harness fits great with plenty of room for her to grow. She is able to sit and move around the rear seat very well within the confines of the harness.

I was a looking for a nice dog harness since my cocker spaniel like to be inside my Mazda 3, normaly she doesn't jump in my legs, but when I stop the story is diferent, so I did a little research and this was the best dog harness for vehicle that I found, in their website (look in google for "Solvit") you will find the measures for every size. For spaniels medium size is more than great.

Now this is a cool set it includes a cheast harness and a cord belt that is attach from the harness to your car seat belt, My spaniel loves the front but beware since is dangerous and this product is best use in the back for safety issues of course.

Now you must be very careful in wich part of the belt you put the dog cord belt, since the place you put will define how much "liberty" your dog will have.

Just the Harness makes this a priceless offer, since is really great, fit perfectly, comfortable, and secure just what you need to protect your precious friend.

We've been using this for our dog for almost 2 years now. It works fairly well, it's easy to put the harness on the dog, but the connection of the strap to the seat belt is a bit convoluted, and in some cars (when we move it from one vehicle to another) are a bit harder to get the strap positioned correctly.

One of the plastic snaps on the harness broke after about a year and a half, so I bought a whole new unit and now we leave one strap in each of our vehicles. If we buy another system at some point, we'll get one that has a different setup.

After car rides, I clipped a lead onto the harness sometimes. One of the buckles broke when my dog pulled hard, just once. I don't really trust those buckles in a car accident scenario.

We much prefer this Solvit safety harness. It is easier to get on and off and is easier to adjust. The car strap is short-made to loop through existing seat belts in your car so your dog has some range. Our medium size dog likes to look out of the window/sniff. For her size the car strap has to be on hooked on one side or the other as the car seat belt + strap will not allow the range for her to be back and forth at both windows. But (hopefully) it will hold her in/against the back seat in case of sudden stops; not become hurt or become a flying projectile in case of an accident,
We will not be able to leave the harness on all the time as it prevents our dog from using her doggie door-the straps get caught on the sides of the dog door frame as she is a little on the hefty side...."Old people have fat dogs",
The other brand states on the package to add 2 inches to your chest measurement for the correct size but Amazon does not say that so we ended up with the wrong size. Amazon was great to credit our money back and said don't even bother to send the other one back .
This Solvit brand adjustments straps ends hang out - four loose ends - so I hand sewed the ends of the straps down-now she looks neat and tidy.
I wanted to get another car seat belt strap so we did not have to install and re-install each time we changed cars but my husband said it's no big deal to switch out,,,time will tell and I will check to see if a car seat belt strap is available separately.
We had procrastinated about getting a safety harness for our dog for years until we recently saw a TV show that showed a dog sailing through the car towards the front window of the car at the time of an accident...we ordered from Amazon that very day!

We ordered this dog car restraint when we brought home our newborn from the hospital, and car safety became a lot higher priority. But honestly, I wish we had done so years ago! It is awesome!! My dog is such a better car rider now!! He's calmer and doesn't move around so much, but can still easily do his laying down donuts. He even has enough freedom of movement that once parked, he can cross over to the other side of the back seat...but it takes more energy (he has to pull the seatbelt out and he doesn't seem to like that tension), so he doesn't do that while driving. I did a couple driveway tests with him - getting the seat belts to lock with a quick tap of the brakes - and it defintely held him in his seat when otherwise he'd be on the floor board. I feel much safer with him in the car now. Definitely a great investment!!
The only thing I'm not thrilled about are the fasteners...they are kind of cheap feeling, and there are two of them, which makes putting on the harness hard to do with one hand (while holding the baby in the other). They are kind of stiff and have pinched my fingers a time or two. The harness though seems like it's super comfortable. It has nice padding in it, and fits him well (he's about 45 lbs and we ordered the medium harness). It was also extremely easy to put on and figure out how to hook up. I feel so confident that this harness will keep my dog safe in the car. I can't believe we drove around for four years with him NOT buckled in! We love our safety dog!!! :)

I was shocked one day while driving to feel a wet nose on my ear. The belt broke at the seam. I may have had the product a month. Obviously this fails as a safety device for pets. I did some research and most pet vehicle restraints fail when tested in proper vehicle crash labs. I highly suggest you do a google search. I contacted Solvit and their customer service was excellent. They sent out a replacement for my original purchase, however, I wasn't willing to risk my dog's life so didn't use it.
