Have it plugged into the home network and it runs smoothly. We store our family pictures and home movies. It is great because we can access it from our smart devices as well. My IT guys said we would not need all the space until he saw all our pictures. We have it configured to mirror so we only have use of 6TB.
For those that have running older Windows versions, please know that you cannot back-up to network drives. I still have to backup to external USB drives. I understand that Windows 10 will be different?
I have not tried the cloud features yet and have not accessed it outside the home network. I will post an update if that should change.

This is a great idea poorly executed. The selling point is that you won't lose data because your files are "mirrored" to two identical 6 TB disks. The implication is that when one disk fails, it's a simple matter of replacing it, allowing the surviving disk to mirror itself onto the failed disk, and your work won't miss a beat.

Don't believe it. This unit failed within mere months after purchase. First one drive wasn't available and then the other. When I checked with WD I found that the drives are not user replaceable. The whole unit, all your duplicated data, has to be sent to WD and they give you a new unit. Your data is lost.

Since the failure of my unit was intermittent, thanks be to a higher power, I bought a second 12 TB Mycloud unit and copied all of the files to the new unit. Presumably because the original unit was failing, it took a full week to transfer files from the failing unit to the new unit. WD then gave me an RMA to return the failed unit. They don't try to save your data. Forget about. You disowned any security for your data when you signed the Accept agreement that flashed by during setup.

Instead of caring about my data, WD just sent me a new bare unit. I will use it to back up the unit that is currently working. Who knows where my data has gone? Anyone, even the NAS, can access all my personal files. Don't put anything significant onto one of the WD units.

My advice is to skip this altogether. The promised concept simply isn't honored by WD. Their customer service is good if your standard is that they answer the phone but it's terrible if you think that WD cares about the implied commitment that you data will be safe on a WD My Cloud Mirror. It's not.

Consider any data that you put on these drives to be fully at risk both for loss or for prying eyes.

The only reason why I do not like this product was that I had to have it connect to my router instead of connecting to just my computer. Other wise, I would recommend this product for those who want their files accessible to all your devices as well as to others.

Using in Mirrored Mode (6TB), can be set to Stripe or Mirror (12TB vs 6TB). User interface takes about 30s to come up, once up however jumps thru pages OK quick, noticed that the data access takes twice as long as my old 3TB My Book Live. Streaming movies from unit OK, has some nice features like email & SMS alerts as well as Cloud Access (Thru the web).

The Cloud mirror arrived per schedule and was as described. Set up was a little confusing and the types of files archived was not well documented. The web site referenced obsolute Windows operating systems. Initial backup up took hours and I have not yet checked the incrementals. I am still trying to set up multiple PC's.

I've been using a week or so and it is working well. I do not use the so called "cloud" technology. I use this only for internal storage and holding media for XBMC or KODI. I can easily FTP to and from and streaming is easy. I have multiple user accounts setup for various roles. The two WD red drives perform nicely.

The other customer reviews about this unit being a flawed product are true. I bought this unit and have had nothing but headaches with it. Spent time with WD tech support.

First off setup ran at 2MB/Sec. After extensive work with WE tech support, they got the speed up to 20MB/Sec. All of this on my home LAN which is a one GIGABIT speed network.

Reviews in PC Mag and CNET said they got 96 to 102MB/Sec from this unit. WE tech Support said I should be satisfied with 20MB/Sec.

I have worked in IT related areas for 26 years. I have built my own high end gamer level PCs and all I could get out of this WD unit was 20MB/Sec. Returned this unit back to Amazon. Will look for a more robust unit.

The WD unit has a very low level CPU, way too little RAM, poor instructions in the manual, and tech support that wanted me to live with performance at 80% less than what reviewers claim to have gotten out of this unit.

I was looking for a media drive wherein I could do not only my back up of all my compuetrs at my home but also put almost all my music ( which also include HD audio) , and , few days back, while doing my research at Amazon.com, I came across this 12 TB giant drive , which also offered flexibilty of of Raid 0 or 1 levels.
For more than a year I have been using the My cloud 4 TB drive , and being more or less satisfied with the dashboard ( as compared to Netgear ready NAS drive) , I immediately had a look at Amazon.in, and , wow, there was an excellent price being offered.

Now coming to the set up , well it took me just few minuted in downloading the set up software and then some 4 days of data transfer and now I am all set to listen to music even on my IOS devices. The IOS and android apps are equally useful .
The best part of inbulit software for backup either for a windows or a Mac machine.

Expensive , yes, but for guys who have lots of media on HD , nothing beats this !!
